    Steamed shrimp with old bay

Found this hidden Gem while spending a few days here. Seems very local and everyone knew everyone and treated you that way even if they didn't. Everything was delicious. There was only outdoor seating d/t covid but they make the best of it with patio heaters and outdoor fire pits. Highly recommend. We ordered a lot of food and it was all delicious but the calamari and seafood Mac & Cheese were the hands down favorites!

Spent a long weekend at Deep Creek Lake and came to this restaurant after doing some Yelp research. This restaurant is kind of tucked up on a hill. We walked in and were seated immediately. The restaurant is very cute with a large fireplace in the middle of the room. It's a relatively small restaurant and feels very intimate. They have different types of house wine for $4.50 a glass, can't beat that! I ordered snow crab legs and it came with a side of potato salad. My only qualm with my food was that I felt like the snow crab legs were a little overlooked because the shell was soggy. It's kind of disappointing when you don't get that satisfying crack of the leg! The meat itself tasted great though, and they definitely don't skip on the portions. All in all, a solid dinner. The manager/owner (not sure which) came over multiple times to check on us which was very nice.

Most importantly the food was good (4.5 stars). The crab legs and fish and chips were greatly enjoyed by members of our group. I had the seared ahi tuna which was tasty, but over-seasoned. The seaweed salad with it was sweet and cut the saltiness of the tuna. Our group also had crab cake sandwiches, the calamari appetizer, the pretzel with shrimp dip, and the shrimp. The pretzel appetizer was my favorite dish. 5 stars for that. (Also beer was $3- that's great!) Our waiter (who may have been the manager or owner?) was super friendly and trying hard to impress (unfortunately to a fault because the service wasn't exceptional). Nice guy, but had a few fumbles with our large group. Forgivable, sure. The place itself must get super busy in the summer for lunches or weekend dinners. It's VERY casual. Monopoly board game was lying in the corner near the fish tank. Felt a little stark inside. Overall, it's probably the best you can find in the area for a hearty meal under $30. Enjoy the Maryland seafood vibe!!

I was craving seafood and ended up in one of the few seafood restaurants in deep creek. My experience here was mediocre in regards to the food. The seafood is not fresh, it seemed as though it may had been frozen and thawed. I didn't particularly like or hate anything. I spent about $70 for 2 people on food only which felt high for the food quality that I received. The serve overall was poor. The waitress seemed frazzled and provided us with in correct information which left a sour taste in my mouth and normally I'm easy to please in terms of service.

I'm not big on fried foods that often so I ordered the Captains Platter broiled. It was $41.49 and came with a crab cake, three shrimp, three scallops, a piece of unidentifiable fish and some steamed broccoli. It was absolutely not worth the price paid. The fish was practically inedible, awful flavor and texture. The shrimp were standard and the scallops were small. The crab cake really didn't have much crab in it. I wouldn't get it again. My second mistake was ordering steamed clams for $14.99...I doubt it was even half a pound. They tasted boiled. The bread that came with it was the best part of the meal and sopped up the juices pretty well. You get better clams from a Chinese buffet on a weekend where you get a meal for the same price as the clams. The salad I got with the platter was also pretty good, very standard. Hard to mess up a salad. The place is very tiny inside and not great for groups. We waited a couple hours to seat six people. It's decorated like an old Hooters and has that kind of feel. Service was 3 stars. It's super loud and noisy inside and she was trying to take our orders from across the table at the other end and I couldn't hear a word she said and she seemed offended when I asked her to come closer. Either talk louder or move closer, not sure what the problem is with that. Would not return again.

I've eaten crab cakes all over including several famous MD crab cakes and I work at a fresh seafood market where we make our own crab cakes. So when I say I know my crab cakes.... I know my crab cakes. Talk of the mountain: this is a super cute and friendly small restaurant located on Main Street. It is very local friendly and the kind of place the staff/owners would know your name and your regular order. I LOVE that. The staff are warm and inviting. You can watch them breading your food and chat with them as you eat. I loved watching. We got the crab cake with fried oysters and shrimp plate with Mac n cheese and fries and hush puppies and another fried shrimp plate with their slaw. It was pretty pricey but we expected that when buying quality seafood. The fried shrimp were absolutely incredible as were the fried oysters (minus the pearl my son found in the one he ate... but again not too much of a surprise). The taste was great, the cook time was perfect, they were delicious! The fries were seasoned and tasty as were the hush puppies (nothing to scream about but definitely good!) the slaw was good (according to my son... I'm not a slaw person). The Mac n cheese was definitely different but not exactly mind blowing. I felt indifferent I didn't love it and feel like I needed it tomorrow, but it wasn't bad. I honestly didn't have an opinion either way on it but I did eat it. The crab cake. The good: this was literally packed with crab meat. Obviously we seek out places that Jam Pack their crab cakes with actual pieces of quality lump crab. Talk of the Mountain certainly does this.... In my opinion to the extreme. When they say zero fillers, they MEAN IT. So does zero fillers make a good crab cake? In my opinion not this way. It was not my cup of tea and I love crab and crab cakes (obviously). It seemed like their formula for the binder was a mustard based concoction and then it was solid crab. The flavor left a lot to be desired and it didn't feel like eating crab cake because there was no filler at all. Making crab cakes is such a delicate balance, a true art in my opinion and while TOTM most definitely is serious about ensuring you taste the crab in their "cakes" the end result was more of a pile of lump crab with a sauce. All that being said I would absolutely eat there again. They were fabulous and I truly applaud their style. This is just my personal perspective from the one visit. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! Rating: my knee jerk is to give this a 4 because I really am not a fan of the Crabcake and would not order it again, however everything else and the people were 10 stars so I feel like a 5 star rating is deserved. If they ever modified their recipe I would try it again happily AND will def eat there again. The shrimp and oyster was phenomenal.

Shortly after our waitress stopped by for drink orders and another large group of women were seated right next to us. We could barely hear each other. The entire rest of the room was empty! But they got seated less than 2 feet away. I know they were having a good time, us, not so much. Hostess tip: in this type of instance don't stack people on top of each other. There was plenty of space to spread us out. We ordered appetizers and dinners. appetizers were delicious: peel n eat shrimp, spinach artichoke dip and calamari (my grandson wanted it!) Dinners ordered: Beef Wellington, salmon (ordered blackened), Cajun chicken Alfredo, child's beef tips and chicken basket. All the dinners were great, as well as the asparagus, BUT, the salads greens were brown. I even pointed it out to the waitress, but they didn't seem very concerned. I even thought they might offer a small discount, it was that bad. For the five dinner with tip was over $225. You certainly can eat for less, beef Wellington alone was $50. All in all, beautiful setting, cozy dining room. Friendly staff. We will go back sometime.
