Dungeness crab
Julia N.

Truly the best seafood plug in the bay! They have extremely fresh and high quality seafood as well as Asian fruits and vegetables. They also have the best prices. Must get's: - Dungeness crab ($3.99/lb during crab season !!) - Maine lobster (also great price) - Manila clams - Hokkaido uni - Lychee (one of the best lychees I've ever had, they're so sweet) I would highly recommend going to ocean empire for the best quality & priced seafood!

Such awesome service and such a wide variety of seafood! O R D E R E D - Hawaiian Longan - Australian Lychee - Santa Barbara Uni V E R D I C T I love exotic fruits and I'm so excited Eric has the best in stock! He always updates his customers of his latest inventory via wechat, instagram and his website - then you can go directly to his website to order and then pick up in in person. His South SF shop isn't hard to find, you just need to look out for the big seafood flag outside of his shop then park alongside it. I've seen so many of his customers post the dishes they make form his seafood, I can't wait to buy some next time and make dishes of my own as well. He's also at the Millbrae and Burlingame Farmers Market on the weekend.

4.6 stars Ocean empire has some really affordable seafood for sale! $3.99/lb crabs!! Wow!! (2-15-23) all the seafood are fresh!

Made salmon Poke with the sushi grade salmon

I stumbled upon Ocean Empire through an Instagram ad and for once, I'm so glad to have been targeted! I've only gotten their sushi grade salmon and beef bones here and I am OBSESSED with the salmon. It melts in your mouth! I make poke with it and it's so hard for me to not eat it all up while cutting it. I also used the beef bones to make pho broth and it turned out delish! It's a fraction of the price you see at Ranch 99. If I have other seafood needs, I'm definitely checking with Ocean Empire first. My first pickup was on Thursday and it was a very awkward pickup. Being my first time there, I wasn't sure how the pickups were supposed to work (and I still don't). The guy there must not have been in the talking mood because he didn't walk me through it either. There was a lot of "um ok, so what do I do?" muttered from me. Nevertheless, I got the goods and will endure as many awkward moments as needed, as long as I can keep getting this salmon!

Crab they sell!!

Please check your crab before you leave,, they will give you a dead one and starting to smell BAD!!! And of course they will also give you missing legs.

Messy homemade salmon/avocado rolls -- looks doesn't do justice to the sashimi grade salmon from Ocean Empire, but sooo delicious.

I drive out to Foster City every Thursday just to pick up some super tasty sashimi grade salmon! Such amazing quality (and great price) that I feel a bit bad mangling it with my non-existent knife skills. I've used it to make sushi, sushi rolls, and also been caught eating it as I cut right from the fillet -- it's that good. The sellers are also lovely people who sometimes give complimentary beef bones or have meaty salmon bones for sale, great for soups/stock!

$5/lb crab!
Chris L.

Saw the $5/lb Dungeness crab advertised. Got 3 crabs for $28! The crabs were a bit on the smaller side but still delicious. Great for a crab feast! The head/brains were inedible but we found that with other live crabs we've purchased recently are in similar condition so must be the time of year. These were excellent and we'd get them again!

I ordered from Ocean Empire for the first time about two months ago during the pandemic. And, I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted their Uni and their sushi grade salmon. If you get a chance to order from them, don't hesitate to do so. Their seafood is really fresh and reasonably priced. I hope they continue selling seafood wholesale once the pandemic ends.

Kusshi Oysters

Eric is very knowledgeable about his seafood and was able to answer all my questions. He recommended the Kusshi oysters for Father's Day. Everyone in my family loved the oysters. They were very sweet and fresh. We also got it for a great price. I highly recommend to everyone. I'll definitely order more seafood to try in the future!!!

Salmon Sashimi

Affordable and FRESH salmon sashimi?? Say less!! It was so easy to order and pick up. Service was great!! Eric, the owner was so kind. He had shared with me different ways to prep the salmon since it was my first time. I ended up having the salmon sashimi with rice and seaweed at home and it tasted delicious!! My craving satisfied. I highly recommend. I can't wait to go back and try other seafood on the menu!

I recently made a purchase at Ocean Empire and I was really satisfied with how fresh all the seafood were. I am a fisherman myself and I expect high-quality and freshness from my seafood. Ocean Empire offers just that. The sashimi grade salmon literally melts in your mouth. The Dungeness crabs were crawling and the live oysters were the best I have eaten. For the quality that you get, the prices were very decent. The staff was also very kind. I would highly recommend giving Ocean Empire a try if you are looking for high-quality seafood.

My favorite way to buy fish! I visit almost every Thursday at their open air stand at Edgewater and love the sushi grade salmon for our weekly Friday rolling sushi at home parties. These guys offer a grand variety of fresh and frozen seafood, and it is always fresh. Just stay away from the oysters - I want them all for myself ;-) Dee from Foster City Moms

The shopping experience collectively is rather odd. The entire store is very dimly lit and it's a strange experience. At first, it feels like an upscale food court, filled with upscale large kiosk throughout the store. They have an amazing Sushi counter, and amazing meat counter. Almost anything you could possibly think of can be found, or freshly cut to order. Just as you're walking around, there's small areas where you might find fresh noodles, or some definite, unique food finds like fresh tteokbokki. Yes I needed to buy this! They have an entire beauty section that's filled with the variety of products, many of them overpriced, but also hard to find in the average marketplace. The fresh fruit area is small, but abundant. This is definitely worth a visit, if nothing more than the experience. You will find some amazing and unique items that are usually only found abroad.

I did find a place where no meat would be available in SF . Once I started thinking of this place I started to map out hella meal possibilities with me creating dishes like San Francisco's native dish Cioppino and also making some salmon dishes along with some okay shrimp dishes like fried shrimp, skewer shrimps on the barbie, and scallop ceviche. The real feast on Good Friday would be getting the Dungeness Crab paired with some garlic noodles . This place has been a Mission District seafood institution and it's called Sun Fat Seafood company ( a former employee started Basa Seafood Express on 24th street). On a Spring stroll on Mission street between 22nd and 23rd streets I went inside a fresh seafood market. Inside you will see live lobsters in a tank. You will also see Dungeness Crab during crab season and also find of variety of fresh oysters selection along with scallops. You will also see sushi rolls when available along with different types of fishes. This place was the solution I was looking for to replace meat cravings and replace with seafood during Good Friday feast. This is definitely the place if you like it crustaceans and fish cooked or raw in SF. Inside Sun Fat Seafood you find some raw fish "fillet" to make your meal for " Good Friday" as some will "pray" and enjoy the fresh catch of seafood in San Francisco city by the "Bay" It's almost Good Friday so I feel "bless "I am alive and remembering those who passed away in peace may they "rest" I walk the streets of the Mission I "reminisce" and honor them on Good Friday feast as I eat some crab that's "Dungeness"
