Best Dj ever and not up for debate!!! Deejay Al was our wedding Dj and also brought a percussionist and it was beyond perfect. A month later, and my friends are still messaging us about our wedding Dj and how much fun they had dancing ALL NIGHT! My wife and I have a very eclectic taste in music where we wanted Arabic, Persian, hip hop, electronic and fun wedding songs. As you can imagine, we were a little worried since most djs do not have this type of range but Deejay Al not only has the range but the insane mixing skills to keep the party going. A friend of ours said "you know the Dj is great when he can mix Nancy Ajram with "teach me how to Dougie" without skipping a beat." To say the Deejay Al was perfect would be an understatement. He listened to what we wanted, played our "must play" songs throughout the night, and threw a banger of a party! I don't really hire a lot of DJ's for weddings because I haven't gotten married more than once. If you plan on hiring a DJ for your event, look no further. Our experience with Deejay Al was phenomenal. The old Persian Jewish women raved about him. The younger Persians had a good time, and the white people even danced their hearts out. To say it was successful wedding and dance party is an understatement. Deejay Al made our wedding one of the best parties according to our friends (a completely unbiased group.) Uplighting, CO2 gun, perfect timing in processional/recessional, drummer, actually spinning great songs from rap to Persian, and the most underrated skill, being an awesome MC so that everything moved smoothly. What more can I add? How about that he put together an amazing mix for our first dance, and was so easy to work with. He made the process as painless and as transparent as possible. Deejay Al was our wedding DJ a few days ago! I have so many guests in town and so much to do after the wedding but I feel like this take priority! He was incredible! We are all about dancing and until 2 am our dance floor was never empty thanks to him! He had a few fun tricks here and there to get the people back on the dance floor through out the night. Not sure what these other reviews below are talking about, I heard about Deejay Al the first time from a family wedding that I couldn't attend to unfortunately. All I kept hearing from family members was how fun the wedding was because the DJ made it a blast. A few months later I met him for his birthday party and he was DJing at On Broadway in San Diego and was verrry impressed by how he got the crowd dancing! I got to know him and was so excited by how diverse he was. He has all types of music and can speak many languages. During that time I was engaged and so I felt it would be WONDERFUL if I could book him. My husband and I come from very different backgrounds and I knew DJ Al could bring the different cultures together. When I told him I was interested in having him for my wedding he was nothing but AMAZING!! He said yes to all my requests :) This guy was friendly, professional, helpful, understanding and went above and beyond with what is on his contract. He played Afghan, Persian, American, and Indian music and made my diverse guests dance the night away!! He had music from all types of genres and all the hit songs. He is so NOT outdated. I have been to many of his shows in San Diego over the last few years and every experience has been awesome. By far my favorite DJ to go see. He seems very comfortable in both large venues and small events. He is not some cocky DJ that just plays whatever, not paying attention to the room. Deejay Al will get any party started and keep it going! Probably the best investment we made for our wedding! I normally hate dancing but even I couldn't resist the dance floor. My husband left a review here too and he said it all. He really is as good as everyone says he is. At first I was apprehensive on getting a high end DJ and thought they would all be the same. I am glad that my husband put his foot down and went with Al. Because I hate dancing, I never thought twice when I went to a wedding and found no one dancing. But WOW does it make a difference seeing everyone at your wedding having the best night of their lives. We picked DJ Al for our wedding after going to a friend of mine's wedding [Persian wedding] a few years ago. The energy among the crowd was so great & everyone was having so much fun he was definitely at the top of my list for our wedding! Before the wedding, he answered all of our calls, e-mails, and concerns right away. Also, a couple nights before the wedding he called us to go through the entire list of songs/music to make sure he plays everything that we requested. If you're looking for someone who can do mixed weddings, he is your guy! [ ours was 1/2 Persian 1/2 Lebanese wedding ]. He did a GREAT job mixing Arabic/Persian/American music throughout the night & kept everyone on the dance floor. Also, a great MC! He followed every request we had, played songs from our playlist and added his own mixes, which was great! I would definitely recommend him again and again. Deejay Al *made* our wedding night. Everyone I talked to for weeks after our wedding have been telling me non stop that our DJ turned the night into an unforgettable party. I've been to a lot of weddings, but I have not seen a wedding as popping as ours. We might as well have been at a dance club with how lit the dance floor was throughout the entire night, from the first song to the last song. The way he engaged everyone was priceless and really kept the dance floor packed the entire night. I found myself crowd surfing probably 4 times throughout the night on the dance stage (seriously when have you been to a wedding where people are crowd surfing on the dance floor?) I want you to look at the photos I posted, notice the one showing the amount of people sitting vs on the dance floor. I have NEVER seen that ratio before. All but a couple people out of 170 guests were on the dance floor. That is crazy! I cannot stress the importance of a good DJ. The success of your wedding (or other event) is LARGELY attributed to how active and engaged the dance floor is during the night. You don't want your dance floor to have to much empty space at any time. Nor do you want your DJ to just play songs like Cha Cha Slide or those other pre choreographed type songs (such a cop out and so tasteless). Deejay Al instead uses actual talent and his own vibrant personality to get everyone moving, and it made all the difference. Everyone, both young and old, danced their hearts out. People who had never danced at a wedding in their entire lives were spending hours on the dance floor. It was unbelievable. Also, we had the benefit of having a half Persian wedding. Persian music = everyone (including Americans who have never heard of Persian music) to have the TIME OF THEIR LIVES. I keep smiling thinking about how crazy the night was and how much everyone enjoyed themselves. If you are having a half Iranian, half American wedding, I would fly Al across the states to get to your wedding. He's that good. He teaches Americans how to Persian dance, gives good commentary to speeches, improvises when people are not ready. Listen, you're going to spend a ton of money on any wedding, DONT F*** IT UP by going cheap on the DJ. If you do you risk ruining the entire event!!!! Spend the extra money, get a talented DJ and enjoy hearing how you had the greatest wedding or party anyone has ever been to in their entire lives. Go with his recommended schedule (trust me, your schedule is not better than his), facetime with him before hand to show the lay of the land, and have the time of your life. The first time I contacted this DJ he sounded offended already. He came across as arrogant. He told me that he does not just cater to a certain cultural community (Iranian) and that he also does "American" venues too. He also said that he will get back to me but also warned me that his schedule is too busy. So I waited and I did not hear back from him. I ended up calling him again and he said that it was too early to talk about the event that I am planning for. He said that 'we have time' , but as a client and promises I had to the event that I was helping, they needed to know who the DJ was and how much they should set aside. This DJ was not giving me any answers. He just said he was available that day. I had wanted to meet with him in person to talk about the type of music to play but he said that he is very selective on what he plays because he knows what he is doing and that it is at his discretion what he will play and that he will not play the music that I request. So note that he is not opening to playing your requests! at your event! Then he went on to boast about how he is doing so well in the industry and also has his very own radio show. I didn't ask him about his background as I trusted the reference. But he had the need to correct me and tell me how well he is doing for himself. It sounded like he had a complex or that he is 'rising up' so quickly that the smallest 'fame' he was bragging about was such a big deal to him. Coming from a family with alot of business contacts and buisnesses I know how key it is to keep clients and contacts happy. One bad experience with a local will set a trail full of talks to other friends and groups about the terrible experience you had. But he came across as if he does not need new gigs or new events. He seems to be doing quite well as far as bookings so I would not contact him because he does not have the time or has enough business. He certainly does not need the clients either. I think that he took offense to me because he did not contact me and I honestly do not know why. He called me another moment and I did not want to avoid his call even though I was dealing with two crying and wailing kids. I didn't want to be rude and not answer because he is so hard to get a hold of. I had to get off immediately but he took offense to that, perhaps. He always spoke to me abruptly and that he cannot talk a certain day or was just too busy. I asked around for another DJ prior to all this and found DJ Farid - he works with DJ Al. So since the affiliation, I would not work with him either since DJ Al does all the bookings and is in charge of the finances. I was looking forward to working with him and little does he know the vast recommendations I had lined or even would have liked to work with him for my own big events on a constant timeline. I'm sure there are misunderstandings and tones that were interpreted wrongfully but at the end this was my experience with him. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND WORKING WITH DJ AL AT ALL. read more

This guy is the real deal. Let me preface by saying I wasn't able to work with him but how he treated me as a random caller speaks volumes about his dedication. I was planning a surprise anniversary party for my parents from the Bay Area and kept running across his name online. I contacted him and unfortunately he was booked however what proceeded after that amazed me. My budget was low but deejay al not only made me not feel in the least way bad about that, he actually helped me find someone who fit into my budget! When planning my Persian/American wedding, I knew one of the most important things would be finding the perfect DJ. I wanted someone to be able to play the right mix of music, and be able to engage both cultures. I was also planning my wedding in San Diego from Hawaii. I had no idea who was the best in that area and I also didn't have the luxury of meeting everyone in person. Deejay Al was recommend to me by my cousin, who had heard of him from events he did in DC. I did a little research and he seemed to fit what I was looking for. When I contacted him, I was impressed by how personable and friendly he was. From what I know, he is a very popular and busy guy. He hosts radio shows, does weddings, and travels for various events. Despite his busy schedule, however, he always made sure to get back to me and address any concerns that I had. He also worked with me to make sure everything stayed within my budget. A few times before the wedding, he went over everything with me and made sure that he had all the correct songs that I had requested. He was also great at giving me advice and recommendations for the songs that I needed help with. When the big day came, I was so pleased with how everything turned out. The crowd was a mix of different ages and two different cultures. It was a tough crowd to please, but Deejay Al did an amazing job.
