The job included designing/redoing our frontyard bed, installing downspouts, building a 330 square foot backyard patio bordered by a dry creek, installing natural stone steps leading up to the patio, and designing/executing new backyard landscape beds. Our backyard - which is on a slope and not a huge space to begin with - looks out onto a shared driveway. Given that, my wife and I struggled with how to create a sense of privacy in our backyard without having a fence installed. Of all the professionals we met with initially, Ben, our Project Manager and Connor, who did a lot of the design work, had the clearest vision of how to get it done. Both were mindful and in tune with what was important to my wife and I. Both were creative in working within the parameters of our space to deliver what is in my opinion, the very best job that anyone could have done. Big credit to the the teams that came out and did the work as well, Cheto included. The results are stunning and my wife and I couldn't be happier.

Independence Landscaping was contracted with VDOT for snow removal in the Lorfax neighborhood…read moreduring the January 2026 snowstorm. Snow removal was difficult due to the amount of snow and the icing that followed combined with extreme cold. Lorfax streets provided additional challenges. I had the pleasure of meeting Eswin Yanes Perez who was working as a plow operator. Eswin, despite having worked long days under difficult conditions, committed to clearing Wells Road. Eswin took pride in his craft and cleared the road all the while taking care not to block in driveways! A fantastic job by Eswin, and Independence Landscaping. As a realtor in the area, I have opportunity to recommend companies to clients and often find myself in a position to recommend landscapers and similar professionals. If the entire company is as good as Eswin, Independence is on the top of my list!

I am very pleased with the service provided by Riverbend. The arborist (Brian) came out, listened…read moreto my concerns, and provided a good plan. I had quotes from two other firms, and Riverbend's quote was very competitive and, more importantly, didn't try to upsell me. Brian was also the only one who suggested delaying some of the trimming until my vegetable garden was dormant since it would be difficult to do the work without the risk of having the workers step on my garden plants to do the trimming. The crew was efficient and did a fantastic job of cleaning up afterwards. The crew chief (Benjamin) walked me through the work before they started to make sure everything was addressed, and walked me through the work after completion to make sure all was done to my satisfaction. It was a pleasure working with him. Another distinguishing point is Riverbend's office staff. I was able to get to a real person quickly when I called (a rarity these days). Everyone I spoke with was polite, efficient, and very helpful. Riverbend is an excellent company and I would highly recommend them (and plan to use them for all my tree work from now on).

We received several estimates from 4 other companies in the area, and New Earth's was right in the middle. The reason we chose New Earth is the honesty that the owner, Jon Runger, put forth. We wanted to go with ideas for plants that we saw online. Jon knew each of the plants we wanted, and informed us that they most likely would not last in our changing environment here. He gave us other suggestions and we would still get the same look we were after. His suggestions also lowered the price. Another thing that sold us was the organic part. We needed 3 yards of soil brought in, and there was no charge for the dirt itself. Jon informed us that they make their own organic dirt, and because of this it wouldn't cost us! WOW! Lastly, we had seen the 2 negative reviews left on this site, and then also looked at the Google reviews. We concluded that the negative reviews were not in line with what others had stated. We actually found Jon and his team to not only be friendly, but very courteous and jovial. Not once were we pressured to do more than what we wanted, and their clean up was meticulous. Overall, we are very, very satisfied with New Earth, the owner, and their quality of work. Definetely will use them again as needed.

The full service I contracted for was: trim the crepe canopy back by 1/3, full yard mow, leaf clean up, and flower bed clean out. Bottom Line Up Front: I was not pleased - but this company came and made things right by me within 12 hours. While their attention to detail could use a little focus, their customer service is fabulous - and the reason I will stay a customer. The day of the scheduled service I was at work, but watching the service via my security cameras. As I watched I saw the crew working on the tree. I frantically called the office, and explained how it looked to me that the crew was removing the tree, which I did not want. Patiently, the man on the other end of the line informed me that this was a proper prune for a crepe myrtle - a fact which I did not know as I have never owned a property with this kind of tree before. He did contact the crew and advise them of my concerns, and while they did complete a proper full pruning (which - to be fair - is not what I asked for, but needed to be done and will ultimately help the tree) they finished with the tree. When I got home, I noticed they did not clean out the flower bed, as per the agreed upon quote. And here is where they won me over. I took a picture, sent and email and called. The following morning, two men called and came to my property. I spoke with Michael, showed him the flower bed, and the confirmatory email I had sent specifying exactly what I wanted. He agreed that I had requested the service, and they did not perform it and they immediately took care of it. Michael wasn't defensive, he didn't have an attitude, he wasn't impatient. He was apologetic, professional, and fast. They got it done. At the end of the day, you always have to communicate clearly. But even when you do, things sometimes get lost in translation. I greatly appreciate working with a company that truly WANTS customers to be happy, and takes the time to respond professionally to concerns by making things right. Thanks EP Mowing!
