This is 15 years too late but since I am new to using Yelp I wanted to warn others against DeckMasters. We just sold our house and were reminiscing on all that has happened here and this incident was discussed.
At that time, I was young, and my mother (a single mother) was doing a major renovation to our attic, creating a third floor and adding 4 rooms and a dormer. She hired Bill Moore for the job and it started off fairly well. The dormer was done, and the rough framework for the stairs and rooms was assembled. He had all the drywall delivered and put up, (not mudded or sanded) and then DeckMasters never returned to the job site and would not return phone calls. He manipulated my mother into taking out the permits in her name, had her pay most of the costs upfront, and abandoned the job site not completing the work she had paid for.
We had to pull in additional contractors and the job took 4x as long as originally estimated. If my mother went after him we would have had to pay legal fees and at that time, especially in the middle of an addition, that was not feasible. read more
