I've purchased several appliances from Decker over the years. Most recently a whirlpool refrigerator. Said refrigerator is in need of repair. Looking at their website, they claim under Service & Parts: "We pride ourselves on superior quality and excellent service. Our team of factory-trained technicians are happy to help with all your service needs". Upon calling Decker to schedule a repair I was in formed they have "limited parts and we don't provide service". I mentioned their website and was again told "we don't provide repairs". Don't go by their website, and don't buy anything from Decker as they don't stand behind their products. You're on your own! read more

My boyfriend and I were in the market for a new fridge and wanted to try to support a local appliance store vs a big box place like Lowe's. Decker's is very close to where we live, so we stopped in and were greeted right away. The main showroom is nicely laid out but we were taken into a separate building with more refrigerators. The employee helping us was on one hand helpful, but also seemed like they didn't really seem to be listening when we kept explaining that the space we have available for a new fridge is VERY specific. They told me, "When you want to have a family, you will need a bigger fridge." I thought this was a really strange thing to say since this person had no idea what my family is like or if I've experienced multiple miscarriages or if I never want to have kids. I don't think comments like that are ever really appropriate but I do think it was a generational thing. Just not something I'd personally ever say to a customer. We got some printouts and information but ultimately decided to go with another local appliance company. It seems that many appliances are still backordered or suppliers are having issues getting them so that's something to be aware of. read more

Ordered a microwave two weeks ago and paid for it. Had it installed 2 days later paid for it. It was installed incorrectly. It was not level. Called the installer that night never received a call back. Called the store that weekend, person said they would contact the install company on the following Monday OR Tuesday. No calls returned that week. Called and spoke to the store manager, explained the problem, emailed photos with a level showing it was way off. He never responded. Called two days later. He said they would call this week. No calls. I went to the store today spoke with the manager who continued to defend the installer. I said I would like my money back. He said he could send out a different person. He said may have to be next week. The new installer came today and corrected the problem with an attitude. No apologies from the store. Would like to shop local as had recently bought a refrigerator from them but NOT going back there for sure. read more

Let's start from the beginning, the lady in the office is cool. I ordered a regular dishwasher, they lost my order and didn't care to check or call. Finally two weeks later they show up with the dishwasher. The installer shows up and said I ordered the wrong dishwasher. Ok fine I order another one more expensive but doesn't need installation. Then they lose my order again. After not hearing from them, I call and tell them you have 24 hours to deliver or I want my money back. They do it and show up with the dishwasher he looks at my kitchen and says you ordered the wrong dishwasher..... you can use your imagination. I've used them before but will never again use them and I wouldn't recommend wasting your time. read more

Just had a delivery of a new washer and dryer. We received great help from the salesman at the store and he was quite knowledgeable. The guys that delivered the washer and dryer within a week of purchase were on time, polite, picked up after themselves and also tested the system to make sure it worked properly. My washing machine died so I "went local" and visited Decker's. I asked for the washer they had on their website. They told me it was not in stock, and could not get it for 4-6 weeks. He farther explained it was a high demand model and that I should purchase a more expensive unit. He farther expanded that even if he could get it they could not deliver it for two weeks. TA DA ..... Here comes the SUPPER HEROES !!! Nawara Brothers. I drove straight from Decker's to Nawara Brothers on Fulton. They had the exact washer I was looking for in stock and delivered it the same day. They also delivered and installed, as well as hauled away the old machine for free. Decker had a charge for all of those services. read more

Sold an oven as self cleaning that did not work. in fact the Aqualift self cleaning had lawsuits in thevworks when they sold it to us as a self cleaning oven and stove. Very deceptive. Could not receive the fridge we ordered after over 6 month and had to settle for something different. Salesman did not warn us of supply issues at the time which was before pandemic. read more

We had a wonderful experience shopping at Deckers. Todd was fantastic. We went in to by a refrigerator and ended up with a microwave and a dishwasher also. All three appliance were delivered and installed the next day. We experienced great customer service. The service people who came to install the items were great also. we have purchased from deckers on several occasions and we have no had no problem. We will definitely purchase there again. Bought appliances at Deckers and Son. The Kitchen Aid stove with Aqualift cleaning was recommended for us. The Aqualift cleaning for the oven has been a known issue (it does not clean) for years yet the salesman never mentioned this. There is even lawsuits regarding the false claims of the it being a self cleaning. The refrigerator we ordered has not been delivered after more than 2 months. When we bought, they claimed they had it and it turns out they did not- no mention why. I thought buying from a local appliance store that has been around for many years is better than a big box store- Seems the service is a lot worse than dealing with big box stores. No wonder the brick and mortar is going the way of the dodo bird. read more

Being from out of town we relied on the internet to find this place and we are so glad we did. From the second we came in, Dana was warm and welcoming and helped us through our search for a whole new house's worth of appliances. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, flexible, and patient as we weighed all of our options and asked many questions. He truly made the experience feel like a breeze and not the pain we anticipated. The prices were fair, with special Labor Day pricing that made it even more worthwhile. I was recommended to come here by my interior designer. I was told the place has awesome costumer service and I trust my I.D. So I went to check on getting a television. Because I like to price-check before I go to look at any electronic, I was aware of the price listed on their website. When I talked to the worker who is the "television person" he did not seem very interested in working with me. He quoted the television $300 higher than what was stated on their website. He tells me that it would take a few weeks to get in, as well, because of freight costs etc. All things I understand, but the website said it was also in stock- other televisions I looked for states if they had it or not. He surprised me with the price because I gave him the EXACT model number, and I don't know why the price would be that different. I told him that their website states $699, and he seemed perplexed. Then he looks it up and says "did you mean the 6500 or 8500" I told him, I don't know what number computer but it should be the model number I gave you. At any rate, he checks and then says it is priced at what I said, but it could still be weeks to get it in... so, I asked him what does he have I'm stocked.... I guess because the television I asked about was curved, all he thought about was curved and he said nothing really. I had to then TELL HIM it doesn't have to be curved... he takes me back and just nonchalantly shows me a few TVs. I said thank you and just left. Long story short I have NEVER felt so disregarded by an employee as I did walking into this place. I wanted to shop local...but, I guess my money doesn't matter. I wouldn't recommend anybody go to a place where they feel unwanted so I won't be going back. read more

Stopped in August to look at getting a new stove not really thinking that COVID had made getting an appliance more difficult. Soon found out that they were having difficulty getting appliances and the saleswoman made that clear. I get that, not their fault at all. Ours had a broken cook top but still functional. She was less than motivated and at one point ask if I could grab a sign off one of the stoves we were considering as it didn't appear she wanted to get out of her chair! We ordered a stove and were told it would be at least 2 months probably longer. They finally called after about 5 months to tell us it was in and we made an appointment for delivery a few days later. The day before delivery they called saying they had made a mistake and our stove wasn't in and they didn't know when it would be. They did offer they had a similar stove available that we could have. We went that afternoon to look at it and although we didn't like it as well decided to take what we could get. Never was there a " we are sorry for the inconvenience ", "sorry for the mistake", nothing. I get their predicament and respect that but they didn't recover well. Probably will go back to our previous appliance dealer next time. read more

I have never fixed anything mechanical in my life, until today. See, the couple busted on my Whirlpool Washer, and I had to replace it. My project was made much easier because I used Yelp to find an appliance store in Grand Rapids. Decker's was the first to pop up because it is closest to my home. Not only did I get the part I needed to fix my washer, Dave spent 20 minutes explaining how to complete the project. He congratulated me for taking on the project and saving myself a lot of money on a service call. Great customer service. read more

I went to Decker Appliance to buy my new range because I wanted to buy from a small family-owned business who serviced the appliances they sold, thinking I'd get better attention and service and wanting to support our local businesses. First I was told they had their own service department and service the appliances they sold. They do not. When my brand new Jenn-Air convection and induction range broke down within a couple months of purchase I called the store and they said they could not service this Appliance. I did however get a certified service technician out who declared the appliance dead. Decker was good at getting me a new Range before Thanksgiving, but not until after I made a ruckus about not having my Appliance to make Thanksgiving dinner. Fast forward to this year. I go to clean my self cleaning oven for the first time according to the directions. After the cleaning cycle I open the door and it is filthy inside. I run another cycle and again no improvement. The grease and burned on food on the glass cannot be wiped off. I called Jenn-Air who informs me my oven is not self cleaning but just has an aqua lift system that just steams the inside causing the grease and burned on dirt to turn to goo. The oven has to be scrubbed manually using toxic oven sprays. I called Decker because I was told specifically that this was a self cleaning oven, which I had specifically requested before purchase. The gentleman told me at the time I purchased my Appliance they did not carry any ranges that had the true self cleaning feature so they just told me what they had was self cleaning to make the sale after all it was close enough. I was lied to. I do not recommend nor will I ever again buy an appliance from Decker and Sons. Anybody want to buy a $3,000 range without a self-cleaning feature? I have one for sale. Next time I will go to Best Buy, if I'm not going to get what I want. They have better prices and they have always been accommodating when I've had issues with a phone or a computer. read more

Very good place to get appliances. Good selection and helpful sales team. Scott helped us pick out an entire lineup of appliances for a kitchen remodel. He went out of his way to help us match things up and get the best look and performance for our new kitchen. He even incorporated a floor model to save us a few bucks and threw in an upgrade kit for it to match the same series of appliances across the kitchen. Highly recommend here over your traditional big box retail center. read more

I called Decker Appliance to order a TV and have it installed at my aunt's home from my home in California. They were very nice on the phone, took my order and delivered the TV on time. A confession: we used to buy all our appliances from Deckers but then we were lured away by the prices of those big box stores. That was a mistake. No love from the big box stores, just promises never met and far too many phone calls with no follow up or action taken. This time when we needed a new washer, dryer and dishwasher (yes, they all had a meeting and decided to quit working during a two week period) we went back to Deckers. Did they listen to our problems/concerns? Suggest the perfect appliances for our needs? Meet the prices of the big box stores? Install those appliances like a boss? Yes, yes, yes and yes. Recently decided to replace a 15+ year old working Whirlpool dishwasher since we were updating the kitchen. Wanted to use a local retailer rather than big box. After purchasing a similar new Whirlpool dishwasher, I learned from the salesperson not to expect the "new" dishwashers to last like they used too (the old one never had a problem). Okay - delivery and installation was scheduled and I was told to pay the installer directly. Installer came and installed but could not test the unit because "water in the drain may be frozen from factory testing." With first use I noticed an unusual sound, so I called the installer who said to close the supply valve in increments until the sound stopped. It did not. I called Decker's back and was told they would send Whirlpool tech out, but if the problem was not the dishwasher that I would be charged for the call. Okay. Also, Decker was not involved directly with appliance problems after the sale since they outsource the installation (so now it's my problem). Whirlpool said there may not be enough pressure in the supply line. Installer said there may be too much pressure in the supply line. The noise continues. I've given up, but can confidently say this has been a poor experience and I will probably not return to Decker's. read more

Nice local, family-owned business. The Decker sons pretty much run the place, to be candid they're maybe not beaming with warmth, but they're steady types and seem like good guys. They will dicker with price, just be sure to talk to one of the Deckers. I've bought appliances for my last 3 homes here, including refrigerators, stoves, washer & dryer, dishwasher, big screen TV. Service is good. The only bad experience I had was with one of their regular salesmen - not sure if he even still works there - he has a very prim appearance - knowing the store will budge on price a bit, I asked him about coming down a bit on the price. He surely knows the store does this, but he looked at me feigning shock, and with a vinegar tone said, "Oh no! We don't do that!" - acting really quite haughty like how dare I ask (I dare, believe me). I just walked out and went back later and dealt with someone who did deal. Don't shop here!! Had a HORRIBLE experience with them. We wanted to try and buy locally but definitely regret it. Went into the store with our family and our first impression was good - friendly and helpful workers. It was Saturday, September 8 and we ordered/paid for a fridge. It was supposed to be delivered to the store on the following Thursday, then delivered to us on Friday the 14 between 8am-12pm. I had to take work off to be there so I called Thursday to see if they knew more specifically when ours would be delivered but I guess they don't do the route until Friday morning. So I called first thing Friday morning and they said ours was going to be last and it'd be closer to the 12:00 time frame and they'd call half hour in advance so I could be there. 11:45am rolls around and I called to check the status and it turns out, a fridge didn't even get delivered to the store Thursday to get put on the truck for us Friday. They knew this when I called Thursday AND when I called Friday morning, yet no one told me there wasn't a fridge to deliver so I waited around the entire morning for nothing. Then they said they could give us a loaner but they couldn't get it to us until a few more hours so I wasted an entire day waiting for this fridge. The loaner fridge they gave us had a door that doesn't shut. The people I spoke with made excuses - they were busy, short staffed, etc. etc. etc. but that's no excuse. I finally spoke with the owner who also said the same, and that the fridge was back ordered from the manufacturer so there wasn't much they could do about it. That's fine, but the fact that no one told me was horrible communication and no one owned it or took responsibility. The owner then told me that the fridge would be in the following Thursday and if it came in the morning, they would call and deliver it to us later that day, otherwise they'd schedule it for Friday again. The following Thursday came around and no call. So I called them on Friday to check the status because I needed to plan with work and still no fridge. And it's not scheduled to be in until October 16. The owner specifically said he'd call me Thursday when it got in, and when they knew it was still back ordered and wouldn't be in, they should have called and told us because again, we were expecting a fridge that Friday. He again blamed the manufacturer but that's no excuse for his lack of communication. They didn't even offer any sort of compensation or anything for the inconvenience and horrible customer service - I had to ask what they could do for us and they ended up knocking a little off the price which wasn't nearly enough and I'm still not pleased with. Over a month later and we still don't have a fridge, besides the loaner with a broken door. Moral of the story - stick to the big guys that know what they're doing like Home Depot and Lowe's. We ordered a washer/dryer from Home Depot last year and even during their busiest time (Black Friday) had a great experience and had a new functioning washer/dryer within a few days. read more

I needed to replace a dishwasher and had an exact price and model through a home warranty that I wanted to check on.. The customer service person Debbie was wonderful in helping me an alternative appliance that came (including installation) within $20 of what I was being given through the warranty. She provided two additional websites so I could view the features of the new machines before making my decision. She confirmed and scheduled an installer immediately and had the appliance installed within 2 1/2 days from my initial call. The warranty replacement offered 7-10 days from arrival in stock. The installer was friendly and knowledgeable. I love my new dishwasher. Excellent experience. read more

We were looking for a new fridge and thought we'd give our support to a small business.The price was right, but we have had nothing but problems. We were suppose to get our new fridge in 3 days, then they decided to send us the display model with dented doors to use temporarily until they could get us new doors. This was not what we paid for! I demanded they give us a new fridge the next day. They did but there was a scratch on the door. It took 1 month to get a new door. The repair man set up an appointment Sat. morning to change the door, instead he showed up on Friday the wrong day to install it .I wasn't home. He was mixed up. Then he forgot to give us the cap that covers up one of the screw holes. After complaining for a week, they dropped it off at our house and we had to put it on ourselves. When we opened the package, the cap was the wrong color. It would have helped if they were apologetic, but they weren't. I believe we were bothering them. Next time I will head to Lowe's or Best Buy. read more
