We are so thankful to have found Michael! He's photographed a few of our events (a brunch bash in…read morean apartment building and a red carpet movie premiere so far) and they've been our favorite eventphotos in a long time. We've used his past photos for our marketing as well. Michael's incredibly professional and brings proper lighting to make the photos come out perfectly, despite your venue's lighting situation. He's calm, kind, and easy to get along with, so we love having him around based on not only his skills, but his personality as well. He shares event photos within 24 hours and they're always flawless. Our attendees are always thrilled when they come out and tend to share them more than anyone has at past events. Excited to keep working together. His rates are reasonable and he also leads photography and videography classes if you're looking to learn from a pro.

We worked with Michael on personal branding and food photography for our Apricot Sun food company…read more Michael is a great person to work with. He understands the complexity behind food imagry and has a clear vision of what he's "shooting" for. The flow went really well and we covered so much in just a few hours. Michael went above and beyond to deliver a great experience with 10s of images that are of the highest quality. Apart from the time we assigned, he took the product to his studio and did more shots, working extra time to do the product cut-outs. Michael charges very reasonably compared to the market. I usually dread food photography projects because of how much prep they involve. Michael made this project easy, light, and fun just like the person he is. Check out Apricot Sun- Mediterranean Food Bar website for the "out of a magazine" images that Michael shot!

White Pine Wilderness Academy - The yurt

White Pine Wilderness Academy

I just really hate the outdoors. Especially the outdoors in Indiana, because there are a plethora…read moreof insects that can sting you, or infect you with various diseases, or just get up in your face and annoy you. And then there are deer that look nice but carry ticks, and geese that are mean, and tornadoes, and unpredictable weather ... I could go on, but you know what I'm talking about. I'm probably the most indoorsy person in the Midwest, but I feel like this is not a character train that I should pass on to my children. That's why I seek out places like White Pine Wilderness Academy, so that my children can experience the outdoors with people who ACTUALLY love the outdoors, and not people (like me) who complain about it. We did the weeklong summer camp here, and my kindergartener was surrounded by camp counselors who were knowledgable about all-things outdoors and who shared their love with all the young campers. The camp was daily, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., which was just enough time for this age range. During camp, the kids hiked, paddle boarded, waded in the White River, started fires (while supervised), whittled sticks, foraged for berries, played in the mud, made s'mores, climbed ropes and rocks, shared stories and generally just pushed themselves past their comfort zones. I have to say, I didn't know what to think about this place, at first. Having my child do all these potentially dangerous things while not under my direct supervision really tested me. (He's my first-born, so cut me a break.) I kept looking at my phone, expecting someone from White Pine to call saying that my child was at the hospital with a broken bone or a concussion. But I think having my child at White Pine was good for both me and him. He gained a lot of valuable lessons, such as respecting nature, learning independence and knowing that he's capable of a lot more than he thinks he is. And I learned that it's OK to let my child go do things that might mean that he will get hurt ... but that will also mean that he will learn a lot about the natural world and himself. On the last day of camp, all the campers and their families sat in a circle and had a small closing ceremony. One of the parents expressed how grateful she was that White Pine exists, because when she was young, spending all day outdoors -- getting muddy, running through the woods, traipsing through the creek -- was just an everyday part of childhood. But now, it's something that doesn't happen anymore, except at special places like White Pine Wilderness Academy. And as much as I hate the outdoors, I have to say that I agree, and somewhat yearn for the slow days of spending long days just looking at the horizon and waiting for the sun to set, or listening to birds chirping, or whittling rocks into sharp points. So I'm glad that White Pine exists and offers these small, slow, natural treasures to everyone who passes through their doors.

I've always loved the outdoors and survivalism, and have searched my whole life for a place to grow…read morein my knowledge of nature. I first joined White Pine for their teens camp, and fell in love with it. Now, I'm going to the after school programs and loving every moment.

The Vogue - Aimee Mann on stage!

The Vogue will always hold a special place in my heart. My first concert at this venue was a doozy…read morefor me: Aimee Mann! She was being her funny and skinny and calm self, playing some of her songs from her Lost in Space album, which, at this point, is like an appendage of my body in musical form. Her album is a part of me. The Vogue is a small venue, but not extremely so. There is balcony seating, and a bar in the balcony, but you need to pay extra for this area. General admission is downstairs, and it's standing-room only. I know on the website it says that a general admission ticket grants you access to the upstairs, but when I went up there, I was immediately told that the tables were for people who paid extra. I considered paying the extra however-much-it-costs so I could sit down, but I decided to thug it out and found a corner downstairs, on the side by the stairs, to post up. Even though I was standing to the side, I still had a great view! I've seen Aimee Mann in concert one other time (she played at Royce Hall in Los Angeles with Rufus Wainwright, a long time ago), but I had never been this close to her. It was an amazing experience. There's a big bar downstairs, and they were super quick to get me my plastic cup of Moscow mule. FYI: This is not the place to get wine! They have a couple of cans of wine, but nothing in a bottle. They mostly have beer and mixed drinks. Before the concert, I was looking at all of the photos lining the walls of the bands and musicians who have played at The Vogue. It's impressive! This music venue has a long history. Lots of people have played at this humble place in Broad Ripple, which is pretty cool.

My friend and I came here for the Jesse McCartney concert and had a blast…read more The room is spacious but there are no seats at the lower level. It's all standing so you can feel like a can of sardines. They were offering upgrades to the second floor which we happily took. The upstairs is very spacious and has a bar so you don't have to go back downstairs into the crowd. I do like how there is a bar to sit your drinks at the railing so you can sit and have a more relaxed time. I will happily come back to the Vogue
