So, when I say that Midtown Neurology and specifically NP Marissa Torres are my favorite medical professionals/office to visit I really really mean it. I've been coming to Midtown Neurology regularly since 2021 and every time I have to have a visit the experience is always pleasant and stress free. From the front desk to the medical assistant to my provider, Marissa Torres everyone is friendly, helpful and kind. They all go above and beyond to make me feel welcomed, heard and treated with kindness and respect. Marissa especially has been amazing. She is by far one of my favorite providers and that is saying a lot because I probably see about 10-15 different providers across specialties. From my first visit Marissa has been amazing. She listens and takes all my medical issues into account before coming up with a treatment plan and unlike some medical providers she has never made me feel unheard, dramatic or gaslighted me which I really appreciate as a woman with multiple health issues. I always leave my appointments with Marissa feeling hopeful about my health and confident in her treatment plan. I highly recommend Midtown Neurology and feel so lucky to have found such an awesome medical provider.

I have been a patient at this practice for several years, but unfortunately my experience has been…read moredisappointing. While the medical care has been adequate, neither the providers nor the staff have been particularly personable or welcoming. Over the years, I have consistently felt like just another number instead of a valued patient. The biggest issue occurred with my neurology appointment. In May, the office called to tell me that my health insurance was not active for my June appointment and that I would not be able to be seen. This made little sense because my June insurance premium had not even been due yet. I explained that my health insurance is on AutoPay and that my coverage would renew as it always does. I was told the office would verify the information and call me back. To the best of my recollection, I never received a follow up call. Because I had been told there was an issue with my insurance, I later called to reschedule my appointment. That is when I was informed that I would be charged a no show fee. The missed appointment was a direct result of the incorrect information provided by the office, not because I simply failed to show up. I escalated the issue and explained exactly what had happened, yet they still refused to waive the fee. It is incredibly frustrating to be penalized for an administrative error that was not my fault. If patients are expected to be accountable for their appointments, the practice should also be accountable when its staff provides incorrect information and fails to follow through on promised communication. After being a patient here for years, I expected better customer service, better communication, and a more compassionate approach from both the providers and the staff. Instead, I was left paying the price for the practice's mistake. Unfortunately, this experience has left me questioning whether this office truly values its patients.

Fast forward to this week, I wanted a professional evaluation and went to go see Dr.Kim. The office staff were very welcoming and kind. Dr.Kim and the other nurses listened to my words. I have seen Dr. Jenny Kim twice and find her to be an excellent and knowledgable Otolaryngologist…read more I was able to book an appointment to see her the next day after calling her office the previous day. She is absolutely kind, knowledgable, caring, helpful, and does a very excellent job of treating all of her patients. I came to her with severe nasal congestion and nasal drainage. She examined the inside of my nose on my very visitation with her as well as ask me if I had any sinus pressure, ear pain, or headaches. I told her that I did not, and she explained to me that I did have a sinus infection on my first visit. So, she prescribed me a strong antibiotic and a nasal spray. I have taken all of the antibiotic that she has prescribed me as well as used the nasal spray and it helped a whole lot. I started to have relief just after two days. When I went back to her for a follow up visit, she inserted her nasal light up inside of my nose and then irrigated (suctioned) each one of my own sinus cavities. She also sprayed the inside of my nose and then to a sample culture for testing. She called me back Friday afternoon with the results and told me exactly what kind of bacterial sinus infection that I had and to inform me to take the remaining antibiotics. I have done just that. When she suctioned and irrigated both of my nasal cavities, I had a lot more immediate relief. I have also continued to take nasal spray afterwards as she advised and recommended. It has been close to a whole week and today I am 100% better and free from my own sinus infection and it is all because of Dr. Jenny Kim. She has sped up and shortened the duration my suffering. Dr. Kim has never rushed through any of my own appointments and visits with her at all. She has always taken plenty of time with treating and not rushing at all. Dr. Kim truly is an excellent, knowledgable, and wonderful Otolaryngologist with a true passion and a true love for the kind of medicine that she practices. She also treats all of her patients extremely well and with lots of care. I absolutely do highly recommend her. She is simply the best!
