I went to one of his spin classes and I felt in love on how he made us push ourselves to reach that tough incline and pedal faster all the way to the finish line. I decided to start working with Johnny because of all the positive Yelp reviews and now it is my turn to write my own. I want to go over three points: 1. Why work with a personal trainer. 2. Why work with Johnny Debut specifically. 3. My experience. 1. It takes a lot of time and energy to get and stay healthy. Most people only have a small window of time to focus on their health. Taking the time to research what you need to be doing to get healthy just makes that small window of time even smaller--and there's no chance that you are going to be able to learn everything that a certified trainer (like Johnny) knows. If you work with a trainer you get someone that knows what they are doing and what you need to be doing and you get to spend 100% of your time and energy on working out with full confidence that you are doing the right things. This may not be a universal truth for all personal trainers but it is definitely a fact for Johnny Debut. 2. All of the other reviews point out what a great person Johnny is. That is all true and it makes a big difference. Johnny is a great person BUT, Johnny also knows his sh*t! His experience and training gives him an edge over other trainers. He doesn't just regurgitate fad workouts or make all his clients do the same workouts. Every person gets a workout that is part of a larger plan that he has for you and your goals. That kind of long-term view and planning is so beneficial and it's crazy that we (Debutants) get that kind of attention. 3. My experience: I am 6'3" and I weighed 250 lbs when I started with Johnny. I was in a combined rut of pandemic weight-gain PLUS I am also recovering from a catastrophic motorcycle accident that has affected my hips and mobility AND I am an avid cyclist (I ride 4-6 days/week). I was still overweight and I knew I was shorting myself on exercise and not doing things that would make me feel better. I just didn't know what I needed to be doing. So, while I am not a typical case, look what kind of complicated mess I brought to Johnny to work with and he picked it up like it was nothing! I signed up for the ten session intro thinking "I'll figure out what to do and do it on my own." Hahaha! That was 18 months ago! From the VERY FIRST SESSION I felt great! Like, so good. Over this period of time I have lost weight for sure (about 40 lbs). But most importantly I have felt great the whole time. That's huge! That has been a tangible benefit since day one. There's no way I can replicate what Johnny does and for what he charges, there's no reason not to work with Johnny. I could go on for another 10 pages. JOHNNY IS THE BEST!!! I was so nervous to see a personal trainer as I A. hate working out, and B. have a really bad neck injury. I chose Johnny because his fee is WAY cheaper than other personal trainers, and I knew it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg to see him twice a week. Johnny made me feel comfortable immediately, and really listened to what my goals were. He altered workouts for my neck injury, gave me a basic nutritional food plan, and kicked my ass in the best way. He will push you in a loving a way, and will keep you inspired and motivated. I live up a steep hill in Silver Lake, and I will never forget the day I walked up it and had no problems (usually I would huff and puff up the hill, take a break, and feel like dying).
