Im a cookie person and tried their famous chocolate chip w/ walnuts and OMG it was wonderful!!

My cookie craving led me here. Upon arriving, my sight went straight to the massive cookies that were inside the display case; they're huge!! Lol. Was a little overwhelmed with all of the flavors at first, but ended up getting the white choco cranberry, Oreo choco chip, and peanut butter choco chip. 3 for $5; sweet deal considering how big these cookies are. For the white choco cranberry and Oreo choco chip cookies, they were very hard and were a bit messy to eat as each bite made a bunch of crumbs; they may have been in the oven for a tad too long?? The peanut butter choco chip was a real winner though; chewy at the center, crispy on the edge, peanut buttery and chocolatey goodness. Definitely get that one if you stop by here. Overall, the cookies were a hit/miss for me. The staff was friendly and the place is small and cozy though; I went on a Sunday afternoon and there were locals dining in for brunch (they serve other food items here too). Parking was easy for me as some of the stores who share the tiny parking lot were closed at the time; parking might be difficult during the weekday.

We had lunch in IB today following a doctor appointment. I checked the website for Deb's Cookie Jar a few days ago and was pleased to see they would open at 1:00pm as that would be a perfect time to go after lunch. We arrived at Deb's a few minutes after 1:30 and even though the "open" sign wasn't on, I got out of the car and went to the door. Locked. As I was getting back into the car, the shop door opened and a man propped it open, yay! I went in and the man was handing something to a customer (apparently the cookie shop shares the space with a printing business). He glanced at me and I asked about cookies (the shelves were empty). He told me "she" would probably be there at 2:00. I get that some small businesses run them a bit more casually than others but it's just not cool to post hours on their door and online and then not adhere to them. This isn't the first time this has happened...one time I drove from Chula Vista specifically to go here. The others times, I was in IB for other reasons so it wasn't a big deal. If nothing else, why not show your hours as (eg) "1:00ish or 1:00or so." ? Anyway, I officially give up and the one star rating isn't for the cookies, which I've wanted to try for years, but instead is for the unprofessional way this business is run.

I love this place. Deb always makes me feel welcome and takes the time to come out and greet me, no matter how busy she may be. This little family bakery makes the locals feel right at home, and the un-locals feel like they're locals! The cookies are HUGE. I usually get the regular chocolate chip, but today I went for the Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip, and the Blueberry White Chocolate Chip. Oh-My- Gah freakin good. Paired with the hot coffee & creamer, I'm in heaven. As usual, the cookies are fresh, and bursting with flavor- the butter... the blueberries, the dark chocolate, salted caramel ...with the slightly crisp outer cookie, then you bite into the soft middle. Just the right mixture of taste and textures to keep you coming back for more! Yes, I ate both kinds at the same time. I couldn't restrain myself. I originally came for a breakfast bagel this morning. I had the scrambled eggs, bacon, and pepper jack. Very good, and good size portions! Stop in here for your next sugar fix, or breakfast, you will not be disappointed.

Deb is quite possibly the nicest person I've met since moving here to California. I found her shop by accident while driving by one day on the way home. It's in an out of the way place. It's a small unassuming shop. The cookies are absolutely delicious and if you go in and you're wondering which one to try make sure that no matter what you try the one called the dark side. It's absolutely delicious and chocolatey without being too sweet. But even better than the cookies are her cupcakes. I haven't had cake this good in years. It doesn't have that heavy texture that a lot of homemade cakes have and her buttercream is light and I could literally just eat a bowl full of it. She's pretty much the best thing about Imperial Beach so far.

Thank goodness for yelp! I came down to Imperial Beach to visit my parents in their new home and we were looking for food and the search results came up with this place and the high rating and the word "cookie" easily got me interested in checking it out. I was originally looking for a sushi or taco place but wanted to grab cookies before the place closed. After getting a glimpse and a whiff of the cookies and the rest of the menu I wound up staying. I saw the Deb's Massive Monte Cristo and thought "challenge accepted"! Ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, cream cheese, jelly, then more cheese inside two pieces of French toast :: drools :: amazing! I wound up splitting it to make room for the cookies which were also very fresh and delicious they sent well with the iced coffee. Service was fast and friendly and I could tell there were several people that were regulars there. I'll definitely be going back to try some other menu items and cookies!

Such a cute store with a very friendly environment! MUST TRY the almond chocolate chip coconut cookie (which got featured in San Diego's magazine in November 2018) and the white chocolate cranberry!! I'm not a big fan of coconut and cranberry but the cookies was amazing! I also tried the white chocolate butterfinger cookie which is also interesting to try. They gave my friend and I free samples which was nice! We got a dozen and the good sir that helped us gave us two free cookies (: I really admire this business and excited to come back to try the different flavors of cookies.

My Fiancee & I Simply Love This Place! Not only The Most Bomb Diggity Cookayz & Food, But The BEST PEOPLE WORK HERE! Example: When I moved here to Imperial Beach after getting engaged, I really was looking for a place in Imperial Beach that made you feel like Family. From the first time I visited to the last time I've left Happier than when I had arrived. Deb is So Honestly Polite & Melanie is a Breath Of Fresh Air! Anyways, Once again the Cookies or as we call them "Cookayz" are Bomb Diggity! The French Toast is Simply Scrumptious! My Fiancee loves a Croissant Sandwich with tuna salad! (IF SUPER HUNGY THEN TRY THE MONTE CRISTO! OMG!!) So if both you & your Family want to support a local Imperial Beach Bakery/Restaurant then Go Here! You won't regret it! Not only do they have yummy giant cookies, but a classic American breakfast menu. I never would have thought they'd have food options other than cookies! They have both breakfast and lunch sandwich items. I simply ordered bacon, hashbrowns, and eggs for breakfast. I also ordered their mixed coffee option, they mix their coffee with carnation milk, cocoa powder, and chocolate syrup. Coffee was yummy and the sweetness was surprisingly not overpowering at all. Deb's cookie jar has been open for about 2 years now, I would also see her family selling her cookies at the IB farmer's market and their actual shop is a great spot. Many locals grab breakfast here and are super friendly to everyone who comes to Deb's. Their seating inside is pretty small so I ordered my breakfast to go. I'll definitely be back for their lunch sandwiches. read more

I have been waiting for this place to open. Whenever I work in IB and drive by I always look and think, "Is the cookie place open yet? Is the cookie place open yet?" Well, today I noticed that it was! I was in need of a cookie at mid day so I pulled in. The place is small, but decorated very cute. Very clean and cozy. Two very friendly women were working and chatting with customers. There were about 8 different types of cookies available. These are classic style cookies recipes. No butter, bacon, cherry cheesecake kind of things. I wanted a coffee, and they didn't have decaf available, but one of the women offered to make me some. Nice! While I waited I looked at the cookies and made my decision, then sat back and read the menu. They have a simple, but great breakfast menu. Five bucks for biscuits and gravy and a side! Yes, please! Healthier stuff like bagels, fruit and yogurt, and oatmeal are only three bucks. Wow. Pretty cool, and good to know. When I ordered my cookies they gave me the coffee and one cookie for free! I tipped them and left to stuff my face with cookies - Sea salt chocolate chip, Butterscotch chip, Snickerdoodle, and a M&M chocolate chip. Tasty. I will be back for breakfast. read more

I was across the street to grab burgers from swagyu and they just so happened to run out of brownies. I walked over to Debs to see if I could grab a dessert for dinner while waiting for my order to be made. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with this wonderful and enthusiastic lady. Turns out it was Deb! She was insightful and helped me pick out which treats to get! She had ran out of the brownies as it was late in the day & she didn't have to but she threw in a free cookie! Supporting a local business, and the wonderful costumer service would have been enough to bring me back in to Debs cookie jar BUT the cookies I got tasted great! Now I have three great reasons to come back and get cookies from Debs! read more

Deb has updated menu to include more savory sandwiches. I tried the chicken milanesa sliders and what a treat! Chicken was tender and sliders had the right amount of grilled peppers and onions. Makes for a perfect lunch. read more

Swung by here the other day. Looking for something sweet cuz I had a sweet tooth. I walked in and it's kinda tiny inside the store. Some elderly gentleman greeted me and the baker lady in the back waved and said hi. I was looking at the menu 1 Cookie was $2 and if you get 3 it's $5. Mind you these cookies are huge. So I got three: snicker doodle, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip. He ask if I had a cookie club card? I said no what is that? He said if you buy 9 single cookies you get the 10th one free. If you buy 9 dozen you get the 10th dozen free. Nice little cookie store beats going to nestle troll house cookies. Lol this is just as good and it's local. Not only does Deb's make a killer breakfast, but the hospitality is incredible. It's like you're in an episode of Gilmore Girls. It's got that quaint diner feel & everyone is talking to everyone. (mostly about how good the food is.) My daughter & I go in whenever we get the chance, because it's her absolute favorite spot in IB. read more

Wow! I found this bakery on Yelp and was not disappointed! Due to Covid, Deb met me at the door. She has a menu posted outside. I ordered cupcake which was one of the best I have ever had, and a cookie which was delicious too. Deb also gave me an extra cookie to try and I am saving it for tomorrow. I have a huge sweet tooth and I will be stopping by Deb's every time I am in the area! read more

I moved back to imperial beach and I knew I had to check out this place. It's small business but you can't miss it . I ordered a dozen and did a bit of everything , cookies were very good and size portions were big. The service was good , very friendly, my son and me arrived maybe close to closing time and yet our options were good . All the cookies were good I love cookies what can I say !! read more

Been coming to Debs since her last location on palm. My weekly routine was ice coffee from Debs before work every day during the week and on Friday I'd treat myself to a cookie or two. Love at first bite! The cookies are exactly what you'd want in a cookie. Big, chewy, never dry, and just plain delicious. When you make a cookie that good no theres no going back to any other. And thats just the sugar cookie. The chocolate chips are next level! Besides all the amazing cookies (and desserts!) Deb and family are just wonderful people. Always a smile always a "How ya doing" and even remembering names of customers to make them feel welcome. Debs is an Imperial Beach staple and you don't have to be local to get wonderful service! Give them a call and get some cookies. We all know we definitely need some right now. And since you're there why not pick up a couple authentic I.B logo t-shirts too. read more

I'm not really sure any other way to explain. We (My kids and I) came in to grab a few cookies and have been back 4 times since. Cookies are always soft, moist, simply delicious and the size of my hand. We will keep coming back. Definitely one of my favorite little gems. read more

The parking sucks but other than that these cookies are bomb. Found Deb's on Yelp because my mom wanted to bring cookies to the hospital Staff where she gets radiation treatment. I wanted my mom to bring really good cookies so I searched Yelp. The cookies are huge!!! I bought a couple of peanut butter and snicker doodle cookies just for us and yum!!!!! We will be back again! My wife and I love having breakfast here great food great atmosphere and the best cookies I have ever eaten Deb and all of her help are very helpful and curtious I highly recommend it to everyone but hurry on in 7-21-2019 will send this be the last you can eat breakfast here but cookies will be available a cross the street not Sure what date so check out her shop at 1002 Palm Ave in imperial Beach CA.91932 read more

Must be a place for cookies,not for the breakfast! Not much for brown gravy & hamburger, ill try it again but with the ham on the side . Great staff supper friendly just s little salty for me , was afraid to try the cookies next time with a hangover& a good attitude. read more

The absolute BEST cookies in all of San Diego! Deb is the kindest person, makes it easy to order special requests, she is a baking QUEEN and you should do yourself a favor and pick up a dozen cookies from her shop. Her cookies were a hit at our baby shower and at birthday parties. I love the classic chocolate chip, and my husband's favorite is chocolate chip with pecan, to die for! read more

We love DEB'S!!! The food is always good. The service is friendly and quick! Make sure you get yourself cookies! My husband always gets the pancakes with bacon and a side of fruit. So we have tried this Place out 3 times and felt it was time to Yelp. Pro's: - Friendly owners - $1 cookie of the day -Quick and attentive -Cookie size is now bigger -Now offering ice cream sandwiches (Thrifty Ice Cream. Vanilla, Chocolate, Green Tea) Cons: -Very few selections of cookies offered but you can wait 1 hour for a selected cookie flavor or pre-order. -Breakfast not always available. -Cookies are just mediocre. Sadly, Deb's cookies are not better than store bought cookie dough that you can plop in the oven. The cookie consistency is crispy, crunchy and airy. I prefer a decadent cookie to have some substance about it. Crunchy on the outside and a bit More dense on the inside. Most businesses that specialize in a product leave you wanting more...I can't say that about Deb's Cookie Jar unfortunately. I hope they are able to survive and Produce a cookie that will have me wanting To return. So I will give them a try in 3 Months to see if they've made yet another improvement in the quality of their cookie. I'm all about supporting a local business. read more

We love Deb's! They always make us feel like family and the food is delicious! Hands down the Best breakfast around! They are a beautiful family who run this place and they cook your food with love. My daughter always gets the French toast, my husband always gets the bomb (biscuits and gravy with a whole bunch of sides) and I usually get the scram bowl and never have we been disappointed! There vanilla iced coffee is delicious too. Oh, and you can't forget about the cookies! So dang good. Definitely check this place out, you won't be disappointed. read more

If you see a cringe TikTok of me saying the food is good, I am actually under duress. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego so far.

I thought this place was closed because I passed by it recently and didn't see it. I must've mistaken the location then, but I'm so glad it is still open according to Yelp! I used to come here about 5 years ago when I would get a coupon in the mail for a free cookie. I would get a free cookie and I would buy another for my mum. The staff has always been friendly and their cookies are always on point. If I'm ever in the area and have time to kill, I'd definitely stop by here. read more

This is as good as it gets - delicious food and fantastic cookies! We had breakfast (egg sandwich and french toast and it was so great, but we met several people (locals) who told us to come back for the biscuits and gravy (which we did and it's to die for - best I've ever had!)
