I've been a YogaSource member for about 7 months now and I'm such a huge fan. The classes are…read morechallenging in the best way and their instructors are so encouraging. My favorite classes are vinyasa yoga and pilates with weights. Linda, Leroy, Sam, and Jordan have really taken my fitness to the next level with their pilates classes, though. Always sore but happy after :)

DO NOT FORGET YOUR GRIP SOCKS!! Seriously, if you take one thing from this review, do not forget…read morethem lol. First, the positives. The new studio is beautiful, super clean, and the facilities are great. Every instructor I've taken has been kind, motivating, and welcoming. I especially love the Reformer classes and Hot Pilates. I feel genuinely challenged in both and have really enjoyed the workouts here. My only complaint is the grip sock pricing. I forgot mine and figured I'd just buy a pair at the studio, which normally isn't a big deal. Their YogaSource branded grip socks were $27 and some change, which honestly surprised me. They felt pretty thin and inexpensive for something that costs almost $30. They also had a few pairs from SOULS, so I ended up getting those instead for the same price. Those at least felt like really nice quality socks that I'll use for a long time, although I believe they normally retail for around $20 elsewhere. Obviously forgetting my socks was on me, and I don't mind paying a little extra for the convenience of buying something at a studio. I just think almost $30 is a pretty steep markup for grip socks, especially the studio branded ones given the quality. So learn from my mistake and BRING YOUR GRIP SOCKS Or grab yourself a nice pair somewhere else beforehand. Other than that, I've had a really positive experience here. Beautiful studio, great instructors, challenging classes, and a really nice facility. I just wish the grip sock pricing was a little more reasonable!

I am one of the Los Gatos Spenga's founding members. I've been going here over four years and…read morerecently celebrated my 500th session. This means that this review is about three and a half years late. I first joined Spenga from a gym that did a lot of HIT workouts. The workouts were decent, but there was never time given to cool down and stretching. I heard about the new Spenga opening up in LG and was immediately interested due to the yoga. Spenga is a whole body work out-- spin/strength/yoga (20 minutes of each in an hour long session). If you have never done the Spenga work out-- it is HARD. Every single time. Because as you get stronger and stronger, your "sweet spot" (power output on the bike) gets higher and you are encouraged to lift heavier weights and do stronger yoga poses. The combination of spin/strength/yoga goes by quickly, especially as there's so much you have to pay attention to. But the reason I have stayed so long at Spenga is the instructors and the community. Some instructors (Marina) have been there from the start. She recently celebrated her 2000 session. Chloie-- also an OG-- celebrated her 1500 session. Having the same instructors mean they get to know you personally (which is a double-edge sword-- they will push you to work harder!!) One of the co-owners, Dan, is a regular-- he is often at the front desk or taking a class with us. The instructors and the front desk team make you feel welcomed. You are greeted by name (unlike other studios I've attended where they work hard to ignore you), and the instructors even ask you to introduce yourself to your neighbor in the work out. As I take classes at the same time every day, I get to know the other people in the class. We cheer each other on, especially during the tough workouts. There are lots of celebration moments-- check out Spengalg's instagram accounts to see pics of the clients hitting major milestones, working on their birthday, etc. Spenga attracts all kinds of people. It's a workout that has something for everyone. Whether you are looking to get back in shape, get into a shape you have never been, or wanting variety from your current routine, I'd recommend giving Spenga a visit!

I initially chose Spanga as a substitute class in addition to my Pilates and cardio. I had really…read morehigh hopes, thinking a 60-minute class combining spinning, strength, and yoga was a great concept and a well-diversified combination. After taking the initial trial class, I decided to buy a 10-class package to really try it out. Unfortunately, after taking a few more classes, I found myself really disliking it. The studio itself is really nice, and the staff is very kind. The spinning and yoga portions are pretty standard and totally fine. What I really dislike is the strength portion (the resistance and weight training part). It is held in an open setting with a maximum of 26 spots. The instructor gives a set of exercises and then lets members work at their own pace with their own selected weights. I found it not only very messy and unorganized, but also lacking in discipline and correction. Proper posture and choosing the right weights are extremely important in weight training. With 26 students doing their own thing, everybody is trying, but many have incorrect posture. This makes it ineffective and prone to injuries. Almost no corrections were given by the instructor. There are a couple of small TVs on the wall showing demonstrations of the assigned exercises, but they are quite small, and sometimes what is shown on screen differs from what the instructor demoed. There is another 60-minute class called Reps, which is pretty much pure strength and weight training. I took that class twice and had the exact same experience: it was messy, unorganized, and lacked discipline and form correction. One of the rap classes I took had 2 stripper-type ladies wore high heels dancing in the class. I think it was meant to boost everyone's morale... maybe ? but it totally weirded me out. Seeing 2 of them wearing tights and skimpy clothes, shaking their butt and booty, just looked weird and inappropriate to me. It totally weirded me out. If someone is already highly experienced in weight training and knows what they are doing, maybe this class works for them. But for the general public, based on what I saw, about 80% of the people have form problems. In some ways, this kind of setting defeats the purpose and can do more harm than good.I really want to use up the classes I bought. But every time I think about going, I feel resistant. Right now, these leftover classes are just going to be a waste of money for me.

UPDATE TO MY previous 5 STAR REVIEW. Had a really…read moredisappointing experience with coach Karina. I was 2 minutes late to class because I had to drop my baby off at the Kids Club after my husband unexpectedly couldn't watch her. My friend was already in class and had even put my towel and water bottle on the spot I had saved. When I arrived, just 2 minutes later, someone else was already using my spot. My friend told Karina I was literally one minute away, but Karina told someone from the waitlist to take my spot anyway. When I arrived and asked what happened, she told me, "If you're not here by the start time, I give your spot away." I'm sorry, but is there no grace period at all? I pay $670/month for myself, my husband, and my child, and I've never experienced a gym that wouldn't allow even a few minutes of grace. I've trained at many different places, and 5 minutes is usually the minimum. What made this experience even worse was Karina's attitude. She was extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming, not only toward me but also toward my friend. Im pretty sure the class wasn't even full and there was some unregistered participants. Most of the coaches at this gym are absolutely wonderful, kind, and welcoming, and I'm there almost every day for Body Shop. I have absolutely no interest in taking another class with Karina. This was completely unacceptable and honestly left a really bad impression.

I tried a slow restorative yoga class, but it was neither slow not restorative, but rather fast paced and pretty intense! We didn't really hold poses long at all, and it was a cardio workout. The teacher was nice enough, but fairly perfunctory. Overall, it is a good choice for more advanced practitioners and those who want a cardio workout. When looking at the pictures of the studio here on Yelp, I was a little creeped out noticing studio photos apparently taken in the back of the class by Yelp posters during class. Cell phones should not be permitted in the studio, and, worse, no one should be taking pictures of classmates and posting them on Yelp. It seems a violation of privacy. The owner was thanking people for posting these photos. I haven't seen anything like this at any other studio's Yelp page....

I found Almaden Yoga through the Mind Body app - it's within 5 miles of the house - so decided to give it a try. The class that worked with my schedule was Wall Yoga, which was described as a class where you'd use the wall to help work on alignment in your poses. I worried that it would be a pretty mellow class but signed up anyway. My concern was completely unwarranted, at least based upon the way Anuja taught it. Using the wall meant not having to worry about balance - an issue for me given an arthritic left big toe and a chronically sprained right ankle - meaning that we could focus upon fuller expression of the poses thereby requiring greater strength. I was literally dripping sweat by halfway through the class. It's a beautiful studio, conveniently located near my childhood home. I'll be sure to come back the next time I am out for a visit.

It's too bad this seems to be the only yoga option in the area.
