I completely understand the frustration that can come from playing a 5 1/2 hour round of golf at a course in LA, but each time I played DA BELL, the only thing I can think about is 'why aren't more people here golfing'. The course is an absolute blast to play, it's a quick play, and the people you play with are typically really, quite fun. I can't recommend this course enough and for the price, in LA, it's unbeatable. read more

Management does not control unruly and aggressive guests. I live in the neighborhood and was walking my dog along the outside of the course this morning (as I often do) when I encountered a loose dog that came at mine. I have a big dog and he responded in kind. They were separated by a fence that's older and has gaps in places and I didn't want either of the dogs to get hurt in a fight. I kept calling out: would somebody leash this dog? Nobody responded as I struggled to pull my dog away. About 40 feet away is a group of four men playing golf and as we got nearer to them and I keep asking for the dog to be leashed, one of them said: "he's behind the fence you stupid fucking broad." My partner told him not to talk to me that way and this lunatic raced toward the fence and climbed halfway up it holding up a large wooden club in a striking position, threatening to assault us for asking him to leash his dog. One of the other guys backed the lunatic. The others stayed quiet. I walked away and once the guy got off the fence, my partner followed. We got to the clubhouse about 10m later and my partner went inside to complain. The girl behind the counter shrugged and handed him the manager's card and told him to write an email, allowing the golfers to play on and not giving him their names so they could be held accountable for their inappropriate behavior at any point. He asked her to call whomever was in charge today or get the Marshall over there to, at the very least, instruct the golfers that they can't have an unleashed dog or, in a just world, take their names and suspend their privileges for a period of time for threatening the neighbors. Zero response. So if you want to golf at a place that upholds general decency, I'd go elsewhere. Shame on you DeBell. As a property owner and resident of this city, I expected better. read more

We had a tee time (booked a week ago on the De Bell site) for 12/26 for myself, wife and son who was home for the holidays, but were disappointed once again by staff who had let the course get overbooked by third party services. I knew there was trouble when the guy ahead of me checked in and was told his tee time would be delayed 40 minutes. One of the staff added to the misery by saying "you won't finish today", almost half hoping he wouldn't book. I complained that this was the second time in the last month where an overbooking situation has occurred and the response from the same guy was "well, I guess you won't be breaking that streak today". Really? We called Westlake Golf Course and got on in 45 minutes. It is such a frustration that a nice course (and one that is less than a mile from home) has to be saddled with a pro shop that can't get the job done. We'll try again when it's not so busy for them to deal with. read more

This golf course is great! This was me and friend's first time here. It was a little tricky getting here because it's located in the mountains of Burbank, so you have to drive up the hills around here. The course offers a well-maintained putting green, a driving range, and a beautiful clubhouse with a small pro shop. The driving range needs some maintenance as the hitting mats seem old and uneven to hit off. Other than that the course was great. The golf carts seem well-maintatnied (but needs an on-screen GPS or some sort of GPS upgrade on them). There was a slight backup on certain holes, but I was able to finish 18 holes in roughly 5 hours. The fairways are lush green and well maintained. The greens here are very tricky with a lot of slopes up/down, so be prepared to be challenged. Overall a great place to play golf, I will be returning here in the future! read more

Well have to say, whenever I hear the word public golf, I usually think the worst. However, 'De Bell Golf Course was a lot of fun. Not a difficult track, but at the end of the day, it had a lot of fun little holes. However, if you have a handicap under 5, leave your driver and 3 wood at home. The course is very short and position is key. But if you want to have a great time, this is a great place to tee it up. Have fun and play well. read more

Played here a little while ago with a foursome. First time playing this course and amatuer golfer. Very narrow fairways and accuracy is a must. Definitely need to bring your game with you if you expect to only use one sleeve of balls. Overall great landscaping and challenging doglegs. Great cart girl and beautiful remodled clubhouse. Will definitely play this course again. read more

Started at 3pm for a twilight round and didn't finished the front 9 until 6:15pm. I'm not sure it it's always this slow, but I wasn't having a lot of fun and there wasn't a marshal in sight. After the front 9 and seeing 3 groups backed up on the #10 tee, we got an ok from the Starter to play the front 9 again. It took us (2-some) 1:15 to finish. This is an interesting course. It's not long, but it has a lot of dog legs and beginner could easily get into a lot of trouble. If your drives aren't very accurate, teeing off with an iron would be a good idea. The coolest thing about this course were the animals that started showing up at dusk. We saw a bunch of deers on the fairway, and a baby bobcat the size of a medium dog. That gave it an extra star for me. read more

I'll keep this one short... The course is REALLY DIFFICULT if you're not an accurate golfer. If you can place shot's you'll have a great day because it's not too long... BUT If you tend to spray the ball I'd stay away, as almost all poor shots will be punished with a lost ball... The course is on a side of a mountain with almost no adjoining fairways, and it's really narrow for the most part. You could easily loose a dozen plus balls here if you're a typical weekend golfer. Maintenance is typical of a municipal course... Not great, but not horrible. The greens are in good shape for the most part, but the fairways can get a little ratty here and there. The clubhouse is brand new, and really nice. The food is great! The range kinda sucks. No turf, only crappy beat up mats. It's also really short. I'd say the range is good for warming up before a round but not much more. Book on golfnow.com, as the rates are significantly discounted from the rack rate. read more

*Driving Range Review* Driving range was nothing spectacular. I guess if you want to get a few swings in before you play a round then it does its job. However if you're trying to fine tune your game or work on a few things then this is not the place. First of all I hate hitting off mats. I like to see my divots. That tells me if my club head is square or not. All the stalls have mats. Second the range is mostly weeds. You don't get any roll. Once again only important if you're working on a few things. Third, The distance markers are about 10-15 yds off. That's just from eyeballing it, but I had to club-up to reach the markers. Could be my fault. Finally, I like to enjoy a stogie when hittings balls. There are signs marked "Smoking in designated Areas Only". I understand it's near the mountains, but c'mon guys, golf is the only sport where drinking and smoking are not only lawful, but encouraged as well. read more

I can whack a ball a good 225 yards, and I enjoy doing so at De Bell! Tucked high up in the mountains of Burbank lies De Bell Golf Course. You'll be able to get some peace and quiet up there, as it is away from the roads/freeways. Along with a fantastic view of the San Fernando Valley, De Bell also offers great facilities, a nice lunch spot, and a good amount of parking spots. The driving range here tops all the others I have been to.. I was just there the other day, and I was reminded of just how much I enjoy an afternoon at the driving range. Definitely check this place out... read more

Very nice outdoor view of the course! It is on top of the mountains in Burbank. The older Asian man working their is awesome with very polite customer service. This will be my home base golf range! Side recommendation* its $10 for 120 balls read more

The golf was great, if I could rate it separately I would give it 4-5 stars. The grass wasn't perfect but for $30 it was well worth it. Pace was good, fairways are tight, layout was unique. The course gets 3 stars because of the food service which by itself should be a 1-2. We played on fathers day and at no point did they warn any players that the food services stopped 2 hours early. You had a course full of angry golfers because at 3 there was no food or water or anything available. I try to be a good patron and buy my food/beer on the course and this time that really bit me in the ass. we ran out of beer by the 6th hole (no cart girl was working) and by 9 were all starving. We ended up ordering Domino's and having it delivered to the course. To add insult to injury it was my birthday. Not that beer made or broke my birthday but I had envisioned a great day drinking and golfing (we even brought a DD to be responsible) with my close friends. The lack of food and beer made everyone cranky and really brought the day down a few notches for me. read more

I've played a few rounds here, and have consistently found it to be a fun, well maintained course. For what your getting (course quality, cart, views), De Bell is reasonably priced and a nice spot to go have a casual round with the guys. Keep that in mind and you should have a great round on a pleasant course. However, if you're the guy who seeks Country Club amenities, pro circuit fairways, and gets belligerent when soft golf etiquettes are occasionally bypassed - I would recommend passing on this one - for everyone's sake... read more

I was extremely impressed with this golf course! I bought a Living Social deal here, thinking "it's probably a dump, but I haven't golfed much lately and maybe this will get me out there." I'm certainly glad I did! As relatively-cheap public golf courses go, this place really can't be beat. It's a pretty short course, especially the front 9, but with the dog legs and blind corners and big hills, it's pretty challenging and a whole lot of fun. The course is extremely well-maintained and well-spread-out, so the holes aren't right on top of each other for the most part, like so many other public courses in LA. And it's right up against the mountain, which makes for some brilliant views, as well as some challenging greens (hint: look around before you putt; if there's a mountain sloping towards the green, play just a bit more break away from it). The clubhouse and restaurant are gorgeous, and it has a great country club feel without being an expensive, snooty country club. There's a beer cart going around constantly too, which adds an extra star to any course in my book. I never understand why courses won't invest in that small amenity, which pays for itself 10 times over, even on a slower day. Anyways, I'll definitely be back here. It's a bit of a drive, but what I'll spend on extra gas money, I'll save in greens fees. And I'll escape the frustration that comes with having to play a crappy, boring, torn-up LA municipal course. read more

This place is a joke! I made a reservation earlier this week. I was trying to make a morning appt but when I mentioned I had a groupon, the guy told me that I could only use the Groupon after 12 o'clock-so I scheduled for 12. I started feeling sick last night, but I knew I had a reservation, so I got up and drove all the way from Woodland Hills to make my reservation. When I get to DeBell Matthew tells me that today Nov 28th, is a holiday and that I can't use my groupon. This place is a scam - bait and switch- the worst kind! He tries to make me pay the twilight fee in order to pay. Matthew/DeBell are terrible business people if they would rather lose a customer than honor the reservation that they made and the groupon that they put out! Rediclous & unacceptable!! read more

Played the course for the first time today. The pro-shop charged me $33 for non-resident walking. He did not mention the greens were aerated and sanded. Something about the course that did not feel well maintained. The bare minimal was done. Many other better options in the area. read more

Sometimes being a member of a private club ruins it for public courses. Look I'm not saying this course isn't playable because it is. But it's not maintained like resorts and private courses. I guess that's how public courses are and if I have to play them when I travel I need to get used to that. The greens are in good shape the layout was interesting but short and I don't see myself returning. If you're looking for value for your money this would be a place to choose. read more

Great course, even despite some rain and heavy fog when I played. Great layout of holes, many dogleg's here, although many opportunities to cut corners. Greens and tee boxes were very nice, and for the price, this course is well worth it. Fun place to play. Although foggy and wet today, course is in excellent shape. No cart girl around, but Marshall showed up 5 times. Pace was perfect. Never waited on a hole, although we did go out pretty early. just over 4 hours. Just about all putts break toward downtown Burbank and away from the mountains. » Close read more

Have played here twice now, and all I can say is... It's not my favorite course in the area, probably because it's the whole target golf thing. Don't be dumb and use your driver on every hole. Staff is nice. The restaurant above the clubhouse makes a great stop after a round. Food is tasty too. read more

Great course but the service is ridiculously slow at the bar and restaurant. If you order a beer and mixed cocktails it takes forever to get even when you are holding and trying to get back on the green. Very inconsistency on billing. Ordered the sane thing from two different bartenders and the female bartender charged me $3 more, wow! read more

For $30 a round including cart and this being a public course, a perfect 5 stars! Well maintained, narrow fairways, soft yet fast greens and all in a public course is amazing. Not the easiest course but with there being no water not the toughest by any means. There's a very nice cart woman who comes around a few times in 18 holes and they serve beer and snacks and have a half way type stop after 9 that serves burgers, hot dogs, chips, etc. Best LA public course thus far that I've played and I'll definitely be returning! read more

As municipal courses go, De Bell isn't bad. Burbank has dumped a ton of cash into this course and its adjacent properties over the past few years. The grass is kept nice and the newly rebuilt clubhouse makes the perfect spot to wind down and relax after a game in the Southern California summer heat. The course is short but fairly narrow because of its location nestled into the Burbank hillside. There is a slight elevation to the course but it's nothing unmanageable, though people with knee and/or hip problems might want to consider a cart. The serenity and quiet of being located in the hills makes it a great relaxing Saturday morning play. read more

The course is in great shape and not very crowded. It was really challenging though, and you should definitely ride a cart unless you're the hiking type. The range isn't great though. read more

De Bell proved to be quite the challenging course, especially considering my novice skill level... I think I went through at least 3 sleeves of balls. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon with a 1 pm tee time. Parking was fairly easy though the lot is small, so keep that in mind on the weekends. The staff's demeanor was typical of any golf course with a friendly pro shop staff and a fairly average clubhouse staff; our server was actually quite moody, if I recall correctly. The holes here are fairly short, rarely requiring a driver (if at all, depending on your skill level), and extremely narrow. This will really test your ability to hit straight/accurately, so take your time! The cart girl came around once throughout our game, which is definitely not enough considering my poor play that day ha! Apart from that the views of the mountains, and the surrounding areas, on the back 9 are amazing. My only disappointment came from the amount of players present that day, requiring us to rush on some holes as we were 4. Hopefully management spaces it out more next time. read more

Golf is a relatively new endeavor for me and I am lucky to have learned at DeBell. The course is challenging (narrow fairways with varying hills and valleys) and it makes other courses seem easy. More importantly, most of the golfers that play here, along with the staff, are much more relaxed than at other SOCAL courses. I give it four stars because my golf partner and I were reprimanded once by the curator of the new club house (different entity than the golf course) for using their empty outdoor table to eat our lunch. While we fully intended to snack in our cart while we played our game, the starter screwed up our tee time and we had to wait 45 minutes to an hour! I can see that he'd be upset we didn't buy clubhouse food, which we often do as regulars, but it was virtually empty in and out of the restaurant. Live and learn. I'll still continue to play there. It's a nice change from the LA Muni courses. read more

This course is an amazing GEM found in the city of Burbank! The course is a challenging course that makes you think about your golf-game. You can take risks for big rewards or play it safe and still maintain a good-score. The fairways and greens are well maintained; however, do keep in mind there are wild animals in the area and a deer can easily ruin a green in the middle of the day. The front 9 is a good challenge, but the game definitely picks up in the back. A couple weeks ago, I unfortunately had the luck to get stuck behind the group of death. I've never played behind such slow golfers, the Marshall tried doing what he could, but these guys shouldn't have even been let near the par-3. When I directed my concerns to the PGA professional on the course, he was more than willing to help and ensure my time at the golf course was appreciated 100%. Guys like Scott, make coming out to DeBell fun and enjoyable! Kudos with the good work and keep it going! See you soon!! Handicap: 18 read more

Used to have fun playing here as a local. Probably played 20x here. When you play an inexpensive golf course you are going to get paired with all kinds. I have played with some nice people here, but at this point, far more randoms. NO ettique WHATSOEVER. Since there is no marshalling, this can and does ruin your day. Trust me on this one. Used to also like having lunch in the clubhouse. Now the service is crap and the place is always untidy. I won't be back. Shame. The course itself was fun to play. read more

Nice course but abysmal pace of play and management. 10am tee time...got it pushed back 30 mins due to overbooking. Took 4 hours to complete the front 9...yes 4 hours to finish only half the course. Waited on every tee and every fairway to take next shot. It was a marathon experience...in all the wrong ways. Back 9..seemed like many groups just gave up and went home. Even one of our foursome had to bail before teeing off on the 12th. Total time for the round...6.5 hours. By the time we left the sun was low in the horizon and the shadows were long. Driving range got mostly commandeered by instructors. Which I'm cool with classes, but when there are 3 instructors teaching classes together in groups on a Saturday morning?!? They left about 6/7 stalls for other customers to warm up. Not cool. Also, the mats seem like they've been there for years...worn down. read more

Damn those doglegs! I have a serious problem with slicing my drives. I think I lost a sleeve of balls at De Bell. The fairways are pretty tight, and those doglegs . . . damn those doglegs. Overall, a fun little course to play at. Nothing fabulous - just a muni. The greens are pretty nice. It surrounds a residential area, so you won't get any exceptional views. I guess I would describe it as your typical neighborhood course. read more

This review is for the restaurant event for Mother's Day Brunch held on 5/12 (am). Brunch itself - the food was very satisfying! Cheese platter, deserts, omelets, salads, meats, mimosas totally tasteful. Presentation was beautiful, place wasn't crowded, ambiance was fun! Service on the other hand was just unpleasant, horrible, and hate to think they were RACIST. I am sure we were the only Latino family attending this Mother's day brunch event (maybe there could have been one more but I highly doubt it!) We were greeted by this gentleman in a nice blue suit with salmon colored shirt who took our PRE-PAID tickets and were seated to our table outside was our preference and they were accommodating. Now, he is was very NICE I asked for a glass of orange juice and when the lady came with my glass it looked dirty but I dismissed it. I started to really look at it and it appeared to have a lipstick mark on it! She served me a dirty glass, I mean really. So, I told the server about it and she was like oh okay how did that happen blah blah blah. You would think after that she would be a bit more service driven with us after that incident but nope totally wrong- very nonchalant. I asked for a hot tea, it never came. Towards the end I was pretty bothered and asked for the tea again and then finally it came. So the lady left us our bill- which ended up reading $199 total balance due $0.00 probably because IT WAS PRE-PAID. So we left, took our bags and started taking pictures near the fire pit and she hurriedly comes towards my party and tells me "Oh, you left without paying, blah blah blah", I explained to her very annoyed that it was pre-paid then she told me to hold on and wait until she checked. So she came back to tell us that the meal had been paid for already and she had verified. At that point she had ruined our Mother's Day and picture taking time! Service was just plain tacky for such a classy joint! I'm over it but had to write a review because WTF lipstick on my glass and I seriously felt we received crappy service because of our nationality! read more

This was the perfect venue for my party! I had 100 guests, which the indoor and outdoor space easily accommodated.
