This place is a good course to play if you can get on. Sometimes it's in great shape, others times it's not, but it's definitely challenging and fun. Getting a tee time is impossible even with a city card. Certain groups already got caught cheating the system to where the same people were getting the tee times. And I think it's still happening The last person caught with having bots and a system that took up all the tee times was Korean and it may still be happening because 95% of the groups with tee times out here are Korean. So the city needs to really look into it again, because the city card is pointless if you can't get a tee time even if you're logged in at the exact time they come out. But yet they charge you for the card, that really gets you nothing... BUT you can always come out and wait to hours and get on, then end up behind those groups that hit it short 150-200 yards, but pkay from the blue tees and blacks tees. Six hour round, plus two hour wait, ends up being an 8 hour round. Can't get tee times online! Long wait if you show up! Long round if you get on! There's no Marshall, there's nobody managing the course. So everyone is on their own, taking all the time in the world...people say "it's the city" but why does our city not care? I'll keep trying to get a time, but I've been trying for years.... read more

We stopped by to hit some balls on the driving range and practice our putting on the practice green and had a lovely time. Even though it was a Sunday, it was not too crowded and we found a stall at the driving range right away. They don't accept cash anymore for the driving range ball vending machine & a small bucket is $8. No charge to use the putting green and more than one of them available, a chipping green is also available if you need to brush up on that. Probably the lowest green fees of any 18 hole golf course in LA ($41 weekday). Wilson is the better and longer of the 2 Griffith Lark courses and is pretty wide. Not too many bunkers of hazards in play. Very walkable course. Relatively easy to grab a tee time online or you can hold out and get on the waitlist if a spot opens up. Times do fill up and this is a popular course to okay. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun course. read more

I played the Wilson Course last weekend and was disappointed. The course is in terrible condition. Most of the golf courses in Southern California are in good condition due to the rains last winter, but the golf courses in the city of Los Angeles city golf course are so poorly maintained. They should be ashamed. I can't understand why the Wilson course is so expensive when it is in much worse condition than the Harding course. If I have to go, I'll go to Harding Course. read more

A b'ness associate invited me to play golf at Wilson. I said okay bc I have never played here, even though it is 44 mi away from HB. Its located in Griffith Park, off the 5 and Griffith Park Dr in LA. Wilson is a very good course. It is "old school" with fairways that bend to the R or L, there are plenty of mature trees, it has some elevation changes, and the course is long. The first hole looks like you are headed into the forest. Lastly, the price is reasonable for a public course, at $66 w/ cart on the weekend. However, what I did not like is that my cart was acting up. I called the clubhouse on the 6th hole, and a replacement cart never came: That is shitty customer service regardless if the course is public or private. Luckily for me, the cart did not break down bc it was 110 degrees. Secondarily, #4 & #5 are of similar length. Its like playing the same hole twice, but back to back. Lastly, they have a 75 cent surcharge for using a credit card. I have never paid a fee like this at a golf course. In addition, in these COVID times, who uses cash any longer?! I wish I played here when I worked in DTLA. Now it is too far for me to come on a regular basis. In addition, the lack of response on the cart, and credit card surcharge turned me off also. read more

What a crap show. At one of the busiest and most lucrative driving ranges in Los Angeles yet Griffith Park driving range cannot employ a full time driving range attendant. Practice balls constantly go empty, no baskets, no warnings, you just lose out on your money and then need to wait for a range attendant to come refund or refill the ball dispenser. Or you can go to the starter and wait in that line so they can refund the money you lost from the machine without golf balls. There are a ton of customers, tons of golfers from all over LA, yet the city of LA can't hire 1 range attendant to come pick up the range balls and refill the machines. This has happened twice in the last week. read more

Well this review is really just for the driving range. I never thought that I'd be interested in playing golf, which to be honest at one point in my l life I said I'm not going to be one those people chasing that stupid white ball but TADA...Here I am practicing every week on the range to help improve my form and drive. To be honest, I really don't have any issues with this practice range as some of the review does. Yes, I'm a beginner but come on. it's cheap, it's within the city, it's convenient and open late, for beginners like myself I find this place alright and a nice after work spot to release some work frustration or hit some balls with friends. We like the second level at night except when the tee's decide to fly down to the ground, the slave machine could be serviced often and better, not only it doesn't accept cc's but now there's only 1 dispenser working. The course looks fine, but the greens are very slow to recover from the aeration in early April. However, the big issues is the fairways and rough are in such terrible shape. There are so many goffer holes and dirt clumps everywhere, the fairways and intermediate rough almost unplayable. Either your foots in a hole, or the ball is up against a clump of goffer-dirt. Even pushing a golf push-cart down the middle of the fairways reveals the rough condition. Sad because it's supposed to be a premium LA City course. read more

This is a lovely course with nice people working there. The problem is the overall management of the place. We golf there often and have received carts that were not charged and died on the course now 3 times. Meaning we were the earliest team time and someone isn't charging the carts. They have a call button to get rescued. Don't hold your breath no one is coming to help. On the range - their top tracer is consistently broken. Ask for one to be opened after paying and someone comes about 20 min later into the hour you paid for. The driving range might be the only range I've ever seen without yardage. They have colored flags but no yardage signs? Come on. Do better. Rooting for this place just hope there's better effort put into the service. read more

I played this monday 9-30-24 and I had my Blue Tees Bluetooth GPS speaker magnetized to the golf cart .We had a 3pm tee time and didn't get to finish because it got dark which is understandable I drove my cart to the return area and my speaker with still attached attached and I forgot it by accident cuz I focused on my Bag and cleaning the cart .When I got home I realized I forgot it but was CONFIDENT the cart guys would return it to the lost and found and GOLF "etiquette "which they didn't .It's a good course but there has been always shady activities with people selling Tee Times and now the staff stealing which is a F****** shame . read more

Me and my girlfriend went to golf here 2 days ago. When we arrive the elderly white man at the counter told us it was too expensive for us, and said we need go somewhere else. We said kindly asked him not to assume we cannot afford 60$ fee. Some of the other customers who had witnessed the unacceptable treatment spoke up and told him to stop harassing us.. He proceeded to shout at them, warning that he wouldn't rent out to them if they didn't keep quiet. While in line I assume something was off because when i smile at him he said I better smile. While I do not want to accuse him of microaggressions or racism, it was completely evident that was the case. Feeling insulted and uncomfortable by this clearly outdated racism, I noticed the white men behind us all spoke out about his behavior as well. Having the audacity to think I can be accommodating by such poor racial treatment I decided to make complaint to manager Paul Nason and to To my surprise, he told us that he was actually doing us a favor by renting us clubs after 4 PM. When we said it was too expensive, he suggested that we weren't going to be able to play long anyway and that we were wasting our money.. I asked him to explain the comment " Do I even know how to golf" and Paul excuse his comments by saying you girls obviously new because more people want to play more holes and stay longer. Paul said he know his character and he was being a grandpa to us. Paul obviously defended his prejudice and did nothing to try and make our experience better. Other than him, all the other staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Further more all other employees I experienced gave great service. read more

The guy who is answering the phone, checking people in, on Tuesdays working the morning shift (11:45-12 pm was the exact time i was there), he's probably in his 50s with long beard wearing a cap has a REALLY BAD ATTITUDE and he is the RUDEST HUMAN BEING i have ever met in my entire life. I was lost and trying to pick up my son at 12 noon. I walked in the store and he was yelling "12:20 once, 12:20 twice, 12:20!! for 3-4 times without looking at my face who in the hell would understand that you were talking to me!! At least greet people like, hello there how can we help you today? would be nice! And yes, there were more people in there. It was my first time picking up my son, and apparently i was lost. I was supposed to go to "Tregnan Golf Academy " My stupid GPS took me somewhere else. I politely asked him if i'm at the right place and asked if my son (gave him his name) was done. And i also "TRIED" to ask him if the address that was on my phone was correct. He did not even bother looking at my phone or even listen to what i have to say, instead he gave me this RACIST look, with his annoyed voice and said "he'll be out a little later than noon and told me to wait another 20-30 minutes." | waited til the time. My son hasn't showed up so I walked back inside and told him to look at the address I have. He looked at me like i was just another stupid asian, then he said oooh you're at the wrong location. If this ...... guy were to LISTEN, I would have not be late to my son's class. Stop being racist and stop acting like everyone around you is stupid. read more

The driving range is really unreliable. Very often I arrive before 8PM and it's closed when it's supposed to be open until 8:30. No sign, just closed. I drive 30min to get there so I've wasted an hour of my time for nothing. You can try calling ahead but they rarely answer. Very frustrating. read more

The Driving Range at GriffithPark SUCKS. Every other day the Range is closed due to Maintenance, no help and generally only one person can open the range whether he or she is late or lost. It's a hit or miss if you want to practice or warm up before you play. I know from now on I should call before going to practice at GriffithPark. read more

This review is for the DRIVING RANGE. The Good : Cheapness :). A bucket of balls is not too expensive and a bucket is good for 2 or 3 novices. The view is really nice and enjoyable, you have the mountain in the background and it's lovely to look at. The Meh : The driving range is beginning to look a little run down. I mean, I know it's just a driving range so you're not actually shooting the balls off it so the ground doesn't really matter, but still . . put some grass seeds down. It can get hot on the top level, there is no shade. Bees. Ick! The bathrooms are far (in the golf shop, on the second level). Not too good for old people. read more

The course is in excellent shape. The greens are challenging and the speed adapts with the Griffith Park weather. The fairways and tee boxes are also in pretty good shape. They are doing a good job handling their new covid restrictions and I felt safe around the grounds. I really appreciate them spacing out the rounds better. The driving range was little hectic and the machine ran out of balls. The plus on the driving range is it takes cash and card with no human interaction needed. I've been golfing here since I was a pup and the best part about Griffith is the nature and animals. This latest visit didn't disappoint as we saw deer, coyotes, and squirrels. My only advice is to follow the golden rule and don't play slow. PS. Fix your divots also Fam!!! read more

This review is for the lack of security in their parking lots. Wilson and Harding courses are in good shape after the winter rains, but it was a bummer to come back to my car and see my door lock and ignition torn up because someone tried to steal it. Reported it to the Rangers and apparently there was another car stolen that morning as well. Rangers were professional and did a good job, but that parking lot needs some cameras to keep the break-ins down. Cameras are pretty cheap these days, but its LA City, so we won't see them anytime soon unless they can pawn those useless freeway electronic notification billboards to advertisers.... have you seen enough "click-it or ticket" warnings for a lifetime... oh well, sorry for the rant. read more

Lots of good. Lots of bad with this place. The good: The course itself was in pretty great shape. The greens were nice. Fairways and tee boxes were well manicured. There was a ton of awesome wildlife in the course. We saw a couple coyotes. Tons of deer and lots of beautiful birds. The area is pretty amazing. It's not close to freeways (most holes) pretty quiet and relaxing place. The bad: First and foremost (the reason my group will never come back back) is the guy named "Mike" in the pro shop. Complete and total douchebag! He was totally combative and rude to me while I was buying a logo ball after paying at the starter window. He was so over the top we had 2 separate other pro shop workers apologize for the way he acted. Dude should be fired or suspended because the person in the pro shop said he aways acts like this to customers. I hope management sees this. Totally unacceptable. The course is pretty expensive for what it is... $59 to ride. Eh. There's better courses for a little less but not going to complain too much about the price. The snack bar is after hole 10. They only hot food offered there is a $4 hot dog. Everything else is cold and pretty expensive. (The woman working the snack shop was a complete sweetheart though. Loved her!) Lastly, finding the course is a little challenging. The gps will put you in the middle of the zoo parking lot. Just keep driving up the hill, stay to the right and follow the signs as best you can. read more

This is a really lovely course. I saw a lot of fowl who were not afraid of humans and even a coyote/wolf roaming on the sidewalk inside the golf course. It seems very quiet to play here and you don't feel like you live in LA. My BF played here before and saw lots of deer! Aside from this course, Angeles National is also a nice one and the one in City of Industry is pretty nice too. Rancho Park Golf course is very run down. read more

This course has so much potential and it really has a really nice layout and it really is very beautiful. However, tee times are very over booked, especially on weekends. Expect 5:30 hour rounds. The course is not very well maintained, or maybe they are just too overbooked. Greens are pretty slow and bumpy, lots of divots in the fairways, and uneven tee boxes. But the food at the club house is really good, especially if you compare it to other golf course food. The people at the pro shop are nice, friendly, and helpful. They could really turn this course into a really nice course if they took some time and took good care of it....... read more

Been playing/practicing here for over two decades but my game is still equivalent to Jarmacus Russell's performance with the Oakland Raiders. Back in high school, this was our home course. Plus it's a short drive from home, so it's the closest range available to me. What's great about this place is that there are two, normal regulation 18 hole golf courses to choose from (Wilson & Harding). And just like what everyone says, Wilson is the more challenging course. If you play here and you're still prone to shanking/hooking, then bring extra golf balls. When you send that ball into the woods, you're deep in Jason Voorhee's territory. The par 4s and 5s can be challenging because of the long lengths. Typically the courses itself and the greens are well taken care of. If you get a chance to play here, you will find yourself one with nature. Watch out for the squirrels, they're not really afraid of you. They're fat for a reason, they steal goods out of your carts when you're too busy fussing over that missed 3 ft putt. The courses are always packed. Walking on to play might be a while unless you're a solo player. I highly recommend reserving a tee time. Also, expect a full day on the courses because everyone here seems to think they're a pro and take their time playing like one. ZzzZzz...Zzz...... The clubhouse serves up some decent food. I recall their sandwiches and fried chicken wings being quite tasty but then again this was a while ago when fast food was my bff. Once upon a time, I saw the infamous OJ Simpson casually sitting outside on the patio having a beer. This was after the his trial and I was still in HS. I remember thinking to myself, "It's the JUICE!!! If the golf glove doesn't fit, then he didn't do it." Let's talk about the bad... the driving range. I swear the other day when I went to practice, it seems like they're still using the same golf balls as when I was still playing for my HS team and that was over a decade ago. Come on, you're charging an arm & leg for a basket of range balls already, least you can do is upgrade them. I feel like if I whoop out the driver, the balls would disintegrate into dust. The stalls are always full especially the downstairs. At least they have some decent practice putting greens and a place to chip. It's the closest golf course(s) and driving range to me, yet I find myself going farther to play/practice. The place is indeed busy and some of the services needs a major face lift or upgrade. With all the money they're banking, they could have easily done this. Unless someone in my group has a reserved tee time, I won't generally come here to play anymore. I like Wilson. A lot. It's a beautiful course and there are always deer and wildlife wondering around that don't really freak out when you get near them, so they are fun to take photos with. That said, it's annoying when one of them decides to straight up photo bomb you for no reason...but I digress. The course is well maintained. It's longer than Harding, and I don't really ever feel pressure to speed up nor do I feel held back by the people in front of me. Fun to play your hybrids and experiment with your irons around here. Anyway, if you are looking for a good round and a great way to spend the afternoon, I definitely recommend Wilson Golf Course. 4 out of 5 stars. read more

Drove up here and had to wait in line to find out the Range was randomly closed as they didn't have anyone to pick up the balls. Twice in two days. Bummer as we liked the range the first few times we came but can't make a trip over just to find out if they are actually operating during the middle of the day. This golf course has long history and excellent lay out! Close to freeway and park. Start with down looking par five hole! Looks great!! But when you step on 1st green, you will be disappointed!!! SLOW!!! Bad green!! I think green keeper is on vacation for years.. And as you keep playing, you will see really bad conditioned fairway!! Feel like waking in nature park!!! This is very busy golf course and should make money! I don't understand why they don't care course conditions!! PS: even snack bar lady is REALLY RUDE!!!
