Terry De Armond, building contractor. He does it all, folks. Hook, line, and sinker. And you better believe, he is one of the best. He has remodeled three areas of my old 1912 home, and done the most incredible job. I am deeply indebted to him.
Terry was recommended to me by my son's best friend, after another contractor referred to me by a friend had not returned my calls. I was desperate to get someone in to repair 101 years (no lie) of evils lurking in my cute little, 1912 post-Victorian house. And I needed it done immediately for my son's pressing medical issues.
First, Terry responded to my call of desperation within the first day. He came out the next morning, and was prompt and dependable as a rooster crowing at daylight.
My house was not a pretty sight, "decrepit" comes to mind, but Terry listened to what I needed and how soon I needed it, and did not flinch. The only thing slowing us down was ME, myself and I.
I needed to move out of the downstairs so he could do his magic. He suggested renting a Pod. That worked out magnificently. And two weeks later, Terry proceeded to practically move in.
What do I love about him? Why is he so deserving of 5 stars?
He came every morning, early and ready to work as long as it took.
He talked with me each and every morning, so I knew what was going on, what he needed from me, and listened closely when I would change things around. He immediately set to doing what I asked.
When I was confused or "on the fence" about a decision, he gave me excellent advice and reliable guidance.
He called my attention to, and fixed, some major issues that were not apparent until the house was gutted. He probably saved my life a couple of times, with things like rotting gas lines, old wiring, bringing things up to code. My insurance company thanks him.
Every one of his sub-contractors was just as dependable, efficient, and focused as he was. And all really nice, drug-free folks.
And they treated my house with the respect and sensitivity that a 1912 house deserves.
Terry does a lot of big, commercial construction, new and remodeling, all over So Cal. But he is also in demand for a lot of high end residential work. My home is not high end, more middle class cute, but he has no snobbery there. He is a likable, easy to talk to guy, very reachable by phone at any time, reasonable with his bids, and the quality of his work, and those he sub contracts with, is outstanding. And that is why I hired him to do more work on my house after he finished his first job. I trust him and know he will push to make sure everything is timely in completing.
I feel so very lucky to have easily found him and not have to suffer with the proverbial "kiss a bunch of toads before finding my prince"!
I would, and will, hire him in a heartbeat. read more
