Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I love to go out for breakfast and I love trying different places. I've been to this restaurant three times. I've tried to give them a chance and I really wanted to love them. No love from me. Restaurant is clean. That's the one star. Cleanliness. Food was meh. Service was ok but the lady owner had rude. It's funny how an establishment has been successful with such a rude owner. Saw her going back and forth with another customer and found that so unprofessional. There are better diners in the area. Very friendly staff, excellent food service and wide selection of meals at reasonable prices. Ordered their chopped steak and eggs over-easy and hash browns with rye toast and coffee. Portion was generous and I took half of it home for later. Recommended. read more

Been eating here after discovering it months ago. Breakfast always good, adequate portions. Nice, homey atmosphere and seasonal decor. Service is acceptable, though they seem rushed and short staffed (aren't they all) at times. Recommended to you if you want a nice, quiet hometown diner experience. This little gem is located on the edge of town. You will find it impeccably clean. My wife and I dine here at least once a month. The portions are large and reasonably priced. For breakfast you can choose pancakes instead of toast. The pancakes are a no brainer, they are delicious. The soups are homemade and they usually have more than one choice. I'm not a fan... (no pun intended) it's very drafty inside, as they leave the HVAC fans running all the time. It's either hot or drafty, waitress commented it's always hot inside. My server wasn't very attentive for being so slow. Seemed to have a negative view on any of my questions. The sausage gravy is not my style. Owner stated "don't order it again, as it's staying that way..." after I had suggested they need to make their own sausage. The place has been remodeled nicely, but the menu didn't strick me as being at all innovative, such a disappointment. Hopefully the locals will keep them afloat, as they have zero social media, let alone plans for a website? read more

I would say that the food was good and the prices were reasonable. It should be called the America Cafe given the overwhelming feeling of US pride throughout the restaurant. Not saying it's bad but it would be more fitting if the name matched the inside. I was disappointed in the "homemade" corned beef hash. Unless homemade means, homemade straight from the can, not sure why they call it "homemade." I would like to see a video of them making it from scratch and see if it matches the look and flavor of what I ate. Bring it. The biscuits and gravy was delish and the eggs were over cooked. Has always been great. The Chicken Pot pie is to die for. The pot roast special is great. Great service and always decorated nicely.

We went for lunch after having heard good things. I ordered the spinach salad. It was phenomenal. It had fresh, fresh spinach, fresh mushrooms, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggs, bacon bits and homemade dressing. My husband had breakfast and it was also wonderful. We came in and said we are a party of four but there was only two of us. All the tables in the place sit 4 or 5 people. She said we had to wait for our full party. Don't get that logic as would have been nice to have coffee while we waited and the other 2 showed up around 4 mins later. Not a good start. Worst was all the severs wore their masks around their chin with both their mouth and nose exposed. I'm not a covid fear person but they were serving several high-risk elderly couples. 1980's menu. I eat healthy...salads, veggies, eggs. Limited choices. I like a breakfast place where I can load my eggs with veggies. They have the standard peppers, tomatoes, onions. Like I said 1980's. Give me some avocado, brocolli, jalapeños (not pickled...give me real ones.) I splurged and ordered hashbrowns. They came to me burnt. Lunch menu, same thing, 1980's. No salads, no healthy options. If I was them, I'd look on Instagram, Pinterest, and travel to the top breakfast places around. Want to see what a good menu looks like? Go to Buttermilk's in Geneva. Such a cute little restaurant! Clean and updated. Menu is small, but all of the bases are covered (who needs 100 breakfast options?). I ordered the Irish Eggs Benedict and the corned beef hash was really good, hollandaise sauce was sooooo good! I even asked the waitress if it was homemade or packaged - she said it was homemade. This place is a favorite for us. Regular food well prepared, served in comfortable surroundings. On Wednesdays the special is pot roast that is just so darn good and a very generous serving too. Tossed salad is fresh, cold, and crisp. Servers have always been super friendly to us. For breakfast, omelets are prepared properly and are delicious. We go back often. read more

On our way home we saw dearborns and decided to try it out. They did a nice job remodeling, but that's as far as it goes. Being a vegetarian, I know I always have limited choices when I go places to eat. I had my choice of breakfast, which I didnt want because it was lunch time, or a house salad (small bowl $3.99). I saw they offer cheese ravioli but with a meat sauce, I asked if they have a plain marinara instead, which the answer was no. So, a house salad it is. My boyfriend is a meat eater and saw they had Reuben's, which he loves, so he ordered that. He didn't care for it, he said the meat was very bland. Dearborns is just another cafe with cheap bland food. Very disappointed there are not any good food places around sandwich. Maybe their breakfast is better, but we probably won't be back to try it out. read more

Really good food, although their food could be prepped and cooked the same way for consistency. Their owners provide good service. Some of the staff however provide mediocre service. They also need to add a sidewalk for the side door, and or make that another entrance, or at least a proper exit. Went to this place for lunch. Food was good but virtually no dessert choices. Waitress and hostess seemed to think that carrot cake or French Vanilla ice cream was acceptable as the only options. Hostess was rude and did not want to hear any criticism of such. I am 70 years old and have been to my fair share of restaurants and I have never encountered a place that not only didn't offer any dessert choices but thought it was perfectly normal to do so. I am a local and this was the second time I have eaten here. Sorry but I am not a fan. The sausage gravy has a lot to be desired, it's just plain bad.
