I unintentionally had lunch here while having beers at the pub next door, T'Brugsch Bieratelier, which got rave reviews for their food as well as their beers, but I discovered that their food actually comes from De Poulin. If I had known that ahead of time, I would have just come in to De Poulin which also has a good beer selection.
The menu is mostly chicken, and they really know how to do chicken well. They also serve pork ribs, though I didn't try those.
My partner got the roasted half-chicken, which came with a choice of salad or boiled "new potatoes" (baby potatoes). He opted for the potatoes, which came with an assortment of 3 different mayonnaise-based sauces, all delicious. I don't remember the name of the dish I ordered, but it was a large puff pastry filled with chicken, gravy, and a few small meatballs. I was really pleased with it.
The prices are pretty standard for Brugge, costing at least €15/entree, but I feel we got our money's worth both in respect to the size of the portions and the quality.
It seems like a new restaurant, so it doesn't have much of an online presence yet, but I highly recommend you make a point to visit! There's also a second location at Havenstraat 1, which is on the Northern side of the city. read more
