Seating is great--especially if you're lucky enough to snag a spot near the water dock. Watching all the boats go by adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The food was decent--not amazing, but definitely not bad. We tried the Crab Cake Sandwich with fries and the Chicken Sandwich with cheese and bacon. Both were satisfying. The drinks were solid, and we even kept the cups and shot glasses as souvenirs, which was a fun touch. Staff was friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. First and FINAL visit to this place...one "bad apple" CAN spoil the bunch for sure. The food was actually decent; drink was pretty "watered down". Just like any other typical bar that offers food service...but had food, lacked service! Walked in, all booth seating along window side, narrow walk between those and the bar. All tables were full except 2 and those two were still littered with the last party's empties and things. Asked if we could sit at one; said they'd clear the table; grabbed about 4 of 11 items; never returned...... Asked a passing employee she started to grab the original person but did it herself instead (kudos to her, should've gotten her name). "Flip the tab to red if you need service, green if your good"...red red red until we had to ASK for menus and to have the table actually cleaned/wiped down. Drinks came in decent time after being warned they may not since the service bar's a little slower. Apps came in decent time. Food came in decent time. Requested additional side items were forgotten and asked server dropping food about them (sour cream, salsa, dressing), response was basically "ask your server". Think we did that already but thanks. When we finally figured out our server hadn't left for the day, we asked for the check and to split the bill. We were told it could only be split evenly, not per person, which was fine with us for the moment. Then every card declined on the handheld device the server was using. I let her know it HAD TO BE her machine and that was when she said "it actually may be my machine...I can do it at the bar". Probably should have started with that! I ended up using the same card to pay the full bill myself just so we could get out of there! From the time we walked in to paying the bill, took entirely too long! This place is exactly what you expect. It has nice seating near the water, a great sunset view. You're not coming here for delicious and innovative. It's basic, pre-prepped beachside food that is similar to what you'd get at a theme park or something. Cocktails are ultra sweet, burgers are frozen patties, buns come untoasted, sauce comes in a plastic condiment container. Crab cake was really fishy. No fries, just a bag of potato chips. Kind of disappointing given the price you pay. It was fine, it wasn't great and was around $80 for one cocktail and two sandwiches after tip. Food, drinks, and service aren't anything great, but they're able to accommodate large groups and have "beach playgrounds" for both big and little kids, which is what drew us there! Drinks were your typical beach drinks, and I had the fish tacos and chips. They were just okay and chips were too spicy to enjoy. We also ordered a kids meal to come out before our meals, and it was never brought out. The best thing about De Lazy Lizard is the ability to sit at your table while you watch your kids play on the playground. For that reason alone, we'd come back next time we're in town! Trash . the literal only good thing about this place is the location. this restaurant must thrive solely based on tourists , & must don't really care about building a solid following to have repeat customers. i will start off with they don't allow you to split checks . & at most , they only allow you to split down the menu. which is a super inconvenience. when we were reviewing our tab at the end , our waitress kept hovering over us and asking for the machine back bc she was nervous we were trying to itemize our check . all the while, we're just trying to make sure our check is right . the food itself was nothing great . got a crab cake sandwich, bland . & i didn't like the fact that they upsell you with getting aioli, and don't tell you you're getting charged for it. & what restaurant doesn't have fries that come with sandwiches. i don't want pasta salad or greens . i want fries . they want to charge you $9 for a basket of fries . ripoff . the drinks were , bland as well . i can honestly say the only thing they have going for them is the location . the water views are great . but it such a waste bc the restaurant is NOT good . and just by reading the other reviews , they don't seem as if they're trying to make it better . i'm not a local, but i'd be very surprised if they remain open past another year to 18 months . read more

Dockside Bar Turned Tourist Trap - End of an Era Don't believe the 5-star ratings that are likely paid for by some third-party advertising agency. As OC locals, we were unpleasantly surprised during our recent visit to De Lazy Lizard. What used to be one of Ocean City's best dockside atmospheres with genuinely good food has turned into a total tourist trap after being bought out by another local restaurant chain. De Lazy Lizard used to serve a variety of good appetizers, light fare, and drinks, albeit at somewhat high prices. The seafood nachos were amazing...but they are no longer on the menu, vanished with many other favorites. Instead, they have been replaced with a new slimmed-down menu featuring typical and tired bar food designed to maximize profits, not customer satisfaction. It gets worse. You cannot change or alter ANYTHING on the menu. My son tried to order the JuJu Burger but asked to hold the mango salsa. Nope - that is an unallowable "menu item change" and required him to build a "custom burger" at a higher price...just to eliminate a topping he didn't want. I tried to order a bacon cheeseburger with fries...no again. If you want fries with an adult meal, you have to order a whole basket of them separately. Instead, my burger was supposed to come with gourmet "chips made fresh in the restaurant." However, when it showed up, the chips were bagged, and the burger patty was tiny and overcooked. It looked like a frozen ¼ pound patty that would be served at a school cafeteria. No burgers are cooked to temp, they all come like this. The rest of my family's food was equally disappointing. We also had to sit at separate tables. We were a party of 10 and were seated at two separate tables, each with its own server, as each physical table has its own assigned check that cannot be changed. Want to combine tables to suit a larger party - not happening. Want to split your check between families, not happening. It doesn't sound like a big deal except that half our party's food came out 10 minutes before the rest. They had finished eating before our meals arrived at the table. Long story short, what used to be an excellent dockside bar with great food and fun atmosphere has been bought out and turned into a typical tourist trap trying to squeeze every penny of profit from your wallet. read more

Recommend the 21+ area if you don't have a kid with you. Food is wildly overpriced. Their basic nachos are $20 and go up to $28. We ordered them and never received them. I had salmon for dinner. It was pretty good but basic. Priced fine for what I got but nothing to write home about. I had the dirty banana drink with the tooter (shot in a test tube). Felt absolutely nothing from the drink and thought it would be a bit thicker. Kind of disappointed by that one. One nice thing was that they claim to be a 100% peanut free facility which was great for me. Server was decent. Obviously at a restaurant at the beach I understand that it's going to be hit or miss regarding shellfish allergies, but I've never had a restaurant act like I was crazy for asking if they prepared any food separate The waiter stated that they do fry the food together, very common. But the rest would be separate he "thought". I went ahead with it and when the second person brought the food out and had no idea which food was whose and which one was the allergy precarious, I got nervous Manager came out and flat out said they take no precautions and "it's not like we cook the food on different grills", with an attitude. At that point obviously I just elected to get nothing: I didn't expect a former meal on a completely different grill but most restaurants take some common sense precautions and explain that. If you have an allergy, pretty sure I'm not the only guy with a shellfish allergy, go elsewhere !! read more

Nice bay front location at the southern tip of Ocean City. The views are spectacular both inside and out! We came at 7 on a Friday, and the line was wrapped around the building! When I got to the hostess stand, I agreed to a table inside for 5 and was seated right away! Our waitress was kind, got our drink order in right away. My husband had a mixed drink, pineapple crush. He really enjoyed it. My kids had to order the virgin pina coladas and blue slushie, and got some nice souvenirs cups. The drinks were not free refills and the waitress asked my 11 year old directly if he wanted a refill, which was not my favorite, since the drinks are $6 each. The refill also did not come with another souvenir cup so charging the entire amount again didn't seem right. I enjoyed the caesar wrap, it had the perfect amount of dressing and the fries were tasty. My toddlers grilled cheese looked good, and came with a little plastic lizard figurine. It was $9 for a grilled cheese and a cup of motts applesauce. Kind of pricy for a 2 year old, and he didn't even get a drink. My other two children enjoyed their burgers, said they tasted good. My husband enjoyed his blackened fish tacos, it came with tortilla chips and salsa. I don't know that I would recommend this place again - Ropewalk is a similar restaurant with a playground and better food and wait staff. I love how this place lights up at night. This place is a bit pricey and they have a bunch of food options and when you get the bill you get hit will extra tax and fees. The alcoholic drinks are not strong they give you the cups but it's just for show. If you do decide to go to this place and have a large party like we did make sure you have cash, they only accept 3 cards per group. I'm rather surprised at the poor reviews. We were seated quickly right by the water and our server had drinks in our hands in no time. The tiki theme is fun and there's a nice play area if you have littles which is the perfect setup so you can let them enjoy and wave them over when the food arrives. I had the tropical palm cocktail and my little one the blue wave slushy. Both came in tall palm tree cups to keep. For food we ordered the captains chicken (2 breast) which we intended to share but fought over! It was soooo good. They were decent sized breast smothered in tomato, cheddar cheese, and crab dip and came with garlic mashed potatoes which were equally satisfying. As I researched my vacation and different spots to eat, this one caught my eye as it had the playground to entertain my 5 year old. Parking situation was terrible ( as it is in most of OC ). Wait to be seated was over an hour ( we expected this being it was a Sunday night at a tourist attraction ). Playground was well maintained and our daughter really liked playing while waiting. Once we did get seated it took over 15 minutes for the waitress to even acknowledge we were there, and only did so to tell us she'd be over shortly. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and food all at once because we truly didn't think the waitress would be back timely and we were tired of waiting. Fabulous time at the Lazy Lizard! First of all there is an amazing playground for the kiddos! Super fun and entertaining. The cream crab soup is very tasty and has a good amount of crab! The pork nachos were soo good we ordered 2! Multiple crab dips! Salmon meal tasty! Kids chicken nuggets was fabulous- the adults even wanted some and comes w a CUTE small lizard what a nice treat! Perfect vibes for vacation! Located on the bayside so you get amazing sunsets. Lots of outdoor seating. Large outdoor playground for the kids. Big drink list so come thirsty! Many cocktails served in fun souvenir cups. As a waterside restaurant I wish they had more seafood options but this is mostly an American restaurant with nachos, burgers and sandwiches. I ordered the captains chicken which was a grilled chicken breast topped with crab dip. It was delicious but served on the smallest bedding of mashed potatoes. Not the most generous portions. When it started to get darker, there were lights everywhere which made it even nicer. We enjoyed ourselves, especially our daughter. Fun place to eat if you have kids. I had the grilled chicken Cesar salad wrap with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. My hubby had the chicken Paloke which had mango salsa, a Thai chili glaze that sat on a bed of rice. Fun vibes! We were able to sit outside on a very nice day. Since there was 7 of us we had to split into two tables but we're still close enough to yell at the other table. I got the salmon avocado wrap and fries which was an extra 3$. The fries were pretty fantastic and crispy. The salmon wrap was kinda small for what I paid for but still pretty good. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. We also split the Gekgo which was good but had too much sugar. Tasted more of mixer than alcohol. Overall meal was okay!
