TL:DR version: De Hoyos took a $7000 deposit 15 months ago, has done no work, and refuses to return our money. Detailed version: In November of 2019 we hired De Hoyos to do a significant amount of concrete work on our property. We signed a contract with him, paid a $7000 deposit, and as of February 2021 there has been no progress. No permits, no removal of the old, no installation of the new, nothing but excuses. Whenever we asked about when work would start, we were told that they were having trouble getting supplies due to the pandemic. According to his Google reviews though he's had plenty of supplies to do other jobs in 2020. Our contract stated that if the work was not completed by the end of 2020 we would receive our deposit back in full. At the start of 2021 we requested our money back and he asked if we could "talk about it." I decided it would be best if he talked to my lawyer instead, as I don't have time to listen to more excuses. Through my lawyer we negotiated that he would have two weeks to return the deposit. Two weeks went by and I'd received nothing. My lawyer called and he said that he had mailed the check so we gave it another week. Still no check. We have escalated to small claims court for breech of contract. read more

If I could give a negative review, I would. It took us so long to get him to respond. He finally did the work, but, does not back up his work. He will tell you he is going to fix whatever problem that he has caused, but, in the end, he will just take your money. Within a year, our driveway has cracks, the colors are inconsistent and there is already scaling on the concrete. Do not believe anything that this man says. Their workmanship left a big gap between my steps and foundation after a few weeks which is allowing water to leak into my basement. Not only that, but concrete is disintegrating on my actual stairs. I have called for over a year and a half now. Owner showed up only to argue. Said he would be back to fix it. That was six months ago. By the way, he won't give you a receipt unless you pay cash and then he writes it in a post it note. Bad, bad , bad. If I could give them a zero, I would. Contracted with Andy for a new concrete driveway in early August. The contract called for a specific method of payment. Andy asked for money before he was supposed to get it. After about six weeks after contracting with him, I called to ask when they were going to do the job. He said in about two weeks, then quickly corrected that to three weeks. Work started in November. Concrete was poured on a cold day, but it mostly came out OK. We have called and emailed Andy several times, to get the minor imperfections corrected, but every phone message and email was IGNORED. And, the last time I checked, Andy was in Angie's List's penalty box. read more

I paid to have cracks in my driveway patched. I was quoted $2000 to patch the cracks.. Of course I was told a new driveway is $11,000 and that is the best answer to my problems. I told them I just wanted cracks patched so they wouldn't crack more. At that time my husband and I asked about extending a curb along side of drive. They said if I paid $2000 cash they would do that too. Well, curb is ok but the patches are highly visible because they did not tint the cement to look aged and the worst part is the cracks reappeared in same spots less than 1 week later.. Everyone has commented driveway looks BAD! They refuse to call me back. I have tried daily for weeks.. They answered in a text that job was "done according to what I wanted". This "company" doesn't deserve 1 star. I called several times for someone to give an estimate to repair my steps. I was advised that someone would come to my home and assess the situation. Buyer beware! Contractor started foundation work for a significant project in early December. They completed about a day and half worth of work and then never showed up to complete the work. The general contractor and I (homeowner) made multiple attempts to have him complete the work. The company owner (Andy) was completely unresponsive. We ended up hiring another contractor to complete the work. We've called for multiple weeks to have him remove his equipment from the property and he has expressed no interest in collecting his equipment. read more

Bad workmanship and no warranty, my long drive way is chipping away and has low spots that collect water, and of course the low spots stains from setting water. I keep calling him, and texting him but he does not respond nor want to honor his work. We called several contractors to get quotes and design ideas for a new patio and also to replace a step on the front porch that had sunken. Andy was knowledgeable in both design and functionality and came with a photo book of his work to show us ideas for color, stamping, step styles etc. He gave us a great price, included him getting the permit from the village. We had agreed to begin work pending approval of our homeowners association then the permit. He responded quickly to my communication, and we had a start date within a week or so. Also it was still quite cold in early April so we knew we also would be planning around weather. We planned a date, and he ended up calling me the Friday evening before asking permission to start early! Demo began on a Saturday with snow on the ground. Andy even offered to Demo the old steps out back for no charge since he had moved it up three days with short notice! That saved us a day of work we had planned to do ourselves. Their work was great, the team worked well together, and they cleaned up after themselves everyday. Our results are amazing! We love the stamped concrete patio, and our front porch is now safe and usable again. Andy personally came to the job everyday to oversee it and check in with us to be sure we liked how things were going. We will recommend him to friends and neighbors for sure! read more

The owner comes across quite friendly, but he is not to be trusted. He gave me a quote on his work, then upped it in the middle of the job saying he didn't know the village code. Then he promised to fix the two cracks in the sidewalks the following spring. He ignored my calls only answering once and that was with an empty promise. My neighbor has tried to contact him as well and again the owner does not answer his phone calls. I would only recommend his work to an enemy, someone I really disliked. Did a sloppy job and once Andy received the check he was gone even though he again promised to return next day and have someone move heavy flower pots to new porch they put in (I am a 72 year old woman who is unable to do it). We had this company put in a patio and driveway apron with stamped concrete. We had to call numerous times for them to come back and complete the job they had agreed to do in our contract. They never came back to seal our stamped cement patio nor did we receive the color stain as promised. We got the run around numerous times about when they would come back. However, they never did. We just had a new driveway and walkway done by Andy and his crew. I first contacted him on a Sunday morning and he came out the same afternoon with a quote. He was much more reasonable than others who I had to contact several times before they came. He had many pictures and options. He is very knowledgeable and had many suggestions that helped save money and worked great!! Andy is very friendly and professional too! I recently had De Hoyos Concrete install a New patio for me. After I signed the contract he told me it would be approximately 10 days before he can install the Patio Due to his work schedule. Which was fine with me. Within 10 days he called me to schedule and the insulation took two days. I was very happy with their work. They even went to my neighbors house Who was out working in his yard and told them they had extra gravel if he would like them to fill the holes in the driveway. My neighbor has a gravel driveway. My neighbor took them up on their offer . Not only did they fill the driveway they Smoothed it out with their machine. When I got home my neighbor came to me and told me that my concrete guy stopped by the house. I thought he was coming to complain about them. But to my surprise he told me the story which made me very happy. I would definitely recommend De Hoyos Concrete . Work was good. They cleaned up after themselves and were very friendly, my neighbor loves them. I am going to have them pour a new driveway in the fall. read more

This company doesn't do good work. My driveway was cracked when they sealed it and they said they would fix it after 3 weeks. It has been since April and my driveway still has the crack. He doesn't return calls or answer messages. Andy is a good con artist and I have seen other reviews wilh similar issues. Andy installed a driveway, walkway and patio in Sept 2014. In Dec 2014 the driveway and walkway started chipping. I took photos and sent them to him. In mid March my patio started to chip and gets worse daily. Andy was supposed to come here on April 1 after 1:00 but was a no show. I called him at 4 that day, no answer or returned call. I emailed him and he called me back the next morning. He came out and accused me of putting salt on the concrete in the winter even though I told him several times I didn't. He said he would come back when the weather gets better and would patch it. I don't think that will work but we'll see. I'll have to call again to see when he's coming out. read more

Please be very aware before you hire De Hoyos Concrete. Andy De Hoyos came out, did an estimate and signed a contract with a clause for job to be completed 5 business days after the permit issuance (weather permitted). It was the end of the season and we wanted our concrete patio to be done before the winter. The permit was issued on 10/24/2018 and Andy's crew started the job around 1:00pm on 10/26/2018. Andy came an hour later, got his second payment and left. His crew left shortly after, telling us that they are out of materials and will come back next day to finish gravel placement and to install reinforcement. They never showed up to complete the work. The company owner (Andy) was completely unresponsive. He left our patio unfinished right before the winter; our back yard was destroyed too. Stay away from this company. All they will do is take your money & not complete the work!!!! read more

I would give them ZERO stars if I could. I hired Andy on the spot. I felt confident that they would do a good job. He provided photos and seemed like he knew concrete! They laid a HUGE patio for us 43x20 in our backyard. BEAUTIFUL. I had a year warranty. They poured our patio and we noticed immediately a huge problem. Andy NEVER told us that there would be a huge drop off the edge, which my then 1 year old, could completely fall off and get injured. I had to call our landscaper (thank goodness he came through on memorial day weekend) and filled in over $2000.00 worth of additional dirt. After this winter, my husband noticed that the entire one side of the patio shifted. We contacted Andy and he came right out in April and said he would fix per our contract. He told us he would REPOUR it and REBAR the border. WHY DIDNT YOU DO THAT TO BEGIN WITH??? He baited us until our scheduled date by answering all our calls. HE NEVER SHOWED UP!!!! NEVER answered his phone since JUNE. THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE. We now are going to hire a attorney and bring this jerk-off to court so no one else has to go through this agony.
