This has now become my new favourite cafe in town - i feel like in Italy, finallyyy!
So, let's start from the position: located in St. Enoch Centre, first floor - not a bad location but i think if they were locating out of the shopping centre or, even better, in the West End (they are planning for a second cafe to be opened there once their name will be a little bit more recognized amongst coffee lovers LOL) they would make soooo much more!
The place itself is not bad, well decorated with upside down coffee cups as lamps, really nice. What i am not crazy about are tables and chairs, pretty simple and dull, they don't give a extra original touch to the shop, in my opinion. But as long as food and drinks are great, i can pass over that! They also sell biscuits, pasta, pasta sauces etc i have tried their tomato sauce with onions and sausages and it was really tasty! A bit expensive, but totally worth the price.
Staff is amazing - chatty, friendly, smiling, always ready to help. They give advises on cakes, recommend what is the best and try to explain ingredients etc it can be quite tricky especially for UK customers who don't have knowledge on those pastries from the Campania region of Italy. They have also put bit few appetizers of each of them on display, so that if you are not sure you can taste them and then decide which one to order.
Now, coffee - OMG, finally a proper espresso, this is by far the best one i had in Glasgow so far: short, strong and creamy. THANK YOUUUU!
Pastries wise, they have a great selection, everything is typical from Napoli area - sfogliatelle, frolle, pasticciotto etc. I got to taste Frolla with pear and ricotta filling, tortina almond and berries and tortina apple and cinnamon - all amazing but my favourite for now, which i really recommend, is the pear and ricotta Frolla - so creamy and moist and delicious!! My goal is to try them all LOL
They also serve homemade hot food - lasagne, cannelloni, arancini, quiches, pizza rustica etc, but didnt get the chance to taste them yet, but they look good!
Overall, 5 stars to this wee new cafe, as Rocco said, they are trying to bring something new to Glasgow in terms of Italian food (and coffee), high five to them! read more
