Classes are run by good and dedicated instructors. Unlike large corporate gyms this place makes you want to go. In my case, it has kept me physically fit as it feels like it is your own private gym. Open any time that you're ready to go. The staff has always maintained a friendly and helpful atmosphere and are there if you need them. Did I mention that I'm a fit 84 and my wife is 80. She maintains fitness due in large part to the excellent (highly aerobic) Zumba classes and instructors. I have maintained my weight, aerobic and flexibility training with regular use of the diverse equipment and this has allowed me to "Keep the Old Man Out." Unlike many gym experiences, I look forward to going. Did I mention that we love the place?!

As a new mom, getting back into fitness and making my health a priority has been a journey. From the beginning, Carrie and Eddie have been incredible at meeting me exactly where I'm at while still pushing me to do better when they know I'm capable of it, even when I can't quite see that in myself yet. The people and environment here truly couldn't be better. I've always felt encouraged and supported without ever feeling judged or like I'm being compared to anyone else. Everyone is genuinely welcoming, and the atmosphere makes showing up something I actually look forward to. Joining this gym is honestly one of the best things I've done for myself. Even after several months of consistently attending, I still find myself excited to come back. I'm stronger, more confident, and proud of the progress I'm making, and I have Carrie and Eddie to thank for a huge part of that. If you're looking for a gym where people genuinely care about you, meet you where you're at, and help you become stronger both physically and mentally, I couldn't recommend this place enough!

G Theory CrossFit: Where fitness meets fun (and maybe mild crying--but in a good way)…read more CrossFit can sound intimidating, but G Theory is the opposite of that. It's more like a big, sweaty, high-fiving family where everyone's welcome--whether you're lifting heavy, just starting out, or still googling "What is a snatch?" The coaches are part hype team, part magician, and 100% invested in helping you become the best version of yourself (even when you're face-down after burpees). You'll laugh, you'll sweat, and you'll probably say "I'm never doing that again"... right before showing up the next day. If you're looking for a place with zero judgment, all the encouragement, and a crew that cheers you on no matter where you're starting--this is it.

After a few years my son talked me into training there again with him so I did. The employee waved my sign up fee(which I would never sign up at a gym that charges this fee) so since he did that I signed up. A couple weeks later my daughter in law wanted to sign up and the same employee that signed me up said he couldn't wave her sign up fee so my son canceled his membership. I stayed on for a couple weeks later but decided to cancel because I just wasn't impressed with the gym itself. Would love to see a nice big, open gym come to Auburn.

So when I found an ad in the newspaper for this place offering a free tour of the facility, I made an appointment. First impression: They were friendly and informative without being "salesy." I was offered some printed matter that disclosed all the different pricing options and how their programs work. So I made an appointment to meet with a personal trainer. Second impression: My goal was to find out if they were serious about training or just trying to sell me the program. My evaluation and background check of fitness past and current was thorough and complete and not once was I sold anything. Once the appointment was complete, I signed up for a 3 month commitment to myself. Conclusion: I've been going now for 1.5 months and my work with Lauren has been nothing but positive and slightly amazing. Not only is she working with my quirky body and it's limits, but she's empowering me to use my own equipment at home to continue there when I can't get in to use the facilities at ProActive. I look forward to workouts, even when I dread them, because I know I'm going to learn something new about what my body cannot do at this time and learn how to work toward gaining that strength or range of motion in the not-too-far-off future. I continue to get stronger and my body shape is changing. I feel muscle where there was once just cushy tissue. If you really want a truly personalized program built to your body and what your body needs to improve (however YOU define that), then I highly recommend ProActive Personal Training. It's worth EVERY penny.
