Since I live in northern Virginia, I have been able to take many tours of Arlington Cemetery by many companies, but this tour was completely unique. Brenda, our tour guide, did an amazing job of explaining the deep connection of Arlington Cemetery to World War I, the birth of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, why the Tomb is guarded, 24-7, General Robert Pershing, and it was all fantastic, but she also showed us the Gravesite of James Reese Europe, the African American pre-Jazz great who fought for and was injured with the Fighting 369th, nicknamed the Harlem Hellcats. Possible the most amazing story was that of fellow Fighting 369th member Henry Johnson who single handedly took on 20 German Fighters and won, saving the life of his partner who had been injured. I highly recommend this tour, even if you have already gone on tours of Arlington Cemetery. It will show you a side of our military history that most tours miss!

Our time in Galway was spent on tour with Caddie Tours. The specific tour was Sean Fleming - Best of the West (Galway) Tour. My wife and I know Sean from the Auld Shebeen Irish Pub in Old Town Fairfax and make sure we have reservations any time Sean shows up. In a nutshell, Caddie Tours, under Niall Leogue's watchful eye, was excellent and thoroughly entertaining. Sean alone would have been enough, but Niall was the cherry on top. Engaging, witty, and charismatic, Sean and Niall provided everyone on tour memorable experiences. The tour included visits to "The Quiet Man" village (where I not only walked in John Wayne's steps, I wore the clothing and acted out a few of the scenes (thanks, Niall)), Aran Islands (wonderful scenery and small village shops), and a Story Telling evening in the back of a pub in Galway called The Office (Brian Nolan, The Story Teller, was incredible!) to name a few. Intertwined with the visits was singing by Sean Fleming who literally had his acoustic guitar with him EVERYWHERE we went. He sang on the bus, in a church, in a few pubs, and the hotel bar! All in all, I highly recommend using Caddie Tours as part of your visit to Ireland. Splitting our time between doing our own thing and using a touring group was excellent as we were able to enjoy having the freedom to do whatever we wanted while also enjoying a planned, guided event. We met some great people on the tour and look forward to seeing them again when we see Sean play at the Auld Shebeen. So, reach out to Niall and let him know John sent you to Caddie Tours!

This describes Andrew from Fiat Luxe and, I'm sure, his very carefully chosen associates. My 14-year-old daughter and I felt like heads of state as Andrew took us on one of his favorite tours inside the American History Museum. He speaks with authority, enthusiasm, and clarity and does not mind if you interrupt, ask him to repeat something, or pause so you can take in a display. He certainly is performing a well crafted script, but he can jump off of it and take you in any direction. As Andrew described dress styles, film making, government structure, and green technology, I got the idea that he spends every hour when he is not giving tours in the library or walking the city gathering new material to share. Fiat Luxe tour prices are very fair and contain no surprises. Two things happened on this trip that make me feel that I'm getting this traveling thing down: I got a table at Founding Farmers, and I booked a tour with Fiat Luxe.

Our guide, Andrew, was witty, cool, and has crafted a great tour that is full of juicy, creepy details and moves across the neighborhood (you'll get your steps in!) A bonus, the vibrant streatery-scene in Georgetown. There are lots of places for a safe outdoor meal or drink following the tour. I'm excited to try out more of Fiat Luxe's tours in DC.

My girl friends and I signed up for this food tour to eat at food restaurants and have fun amongst each otherm the tour guide treated us like children, and acted like she was a historical teacher the whole time. We were not overly disruptive and just wanted to each other's company while having good food. We signed up for a "FOOD" tour but instead Jen instead that it was also a historical tour and made us very uncomfortable by over-lectueinf and quizzing us about historical facts about Leesburg, slavery and Civil War. At one point, between the third and fourth food tour stop, she made us take a huge detour around the town so she could over explain about histories behind slavery trading in Leesburg. At once point we got really bored and tired of being treated like children (we are all professional women over 30+ years old), and started laughing behind a bit in the street to chat. She had a full to turn to one of my friends and say 'plesee tell your friends to stop talking and pay attention to what I'm saying about these important events.' She over-shared that she leads school tours in DC during g other parts of the year and maybe she confused us with the school-aged children. But we did not enjoy our experience with her. I contemplated not sharing this awhile because I really think hard about leaving a negative review, but even two months later, her condescending attitude and the way we were treated as a group really stings us. I hope this type of tour guide can be curtailed and mapped for a "food" tour experience they advertised and we paid for instead of historical lectures. The tour guide needs to be re-educater.

I reached out to Asmina via their online questionnaire and shared our goals for the trip. Panos, our trip consultant, reached out after reviewing our goals. We further articulated what we wanted to do and didn't want to do and he put together the best trip my wife and I have ever been on, while staying within the budget we provided him. We had several private tours, beautiful hotels, and plenty of free time to explore and decompress during our 3 week adventure. There was nothing we had to do once we got there other than to meet our driver to take us to our next destination at the appointed time. All of the flights, ferries, trains and drivers were pre-booked. In planning the trip, which began about a year prior, we were recommended through a friend to use Asimina Tours; we were put in contact with Dimitri. Right away, Dimitri worked very closely with us to find out what we were interested in seeing, how long we were looking to stay in Italy, and what our budget was. From there, Dimitri, along with his partner Christina, put together an amazing package that allowed us to see all the sights. We went to Venice, Como, Milan, Florence, Rome, and Sorrento. Along the way, we had many day trips, the majority of which were fantastic. From Pisa, Siena, Lucca, Cinque Terre (a favorite), the Vatican, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, and Capri, it was a once in a lifetime experience and we had the most amazing time. Other highlights of the trip were the wine tasting in Tuscany and the private cooking class in Sorrento. They were also very accommodating with some last minute trip ideas. About 2 months prior to leaving, I had learned that one of my favorite bands, Queens of the Stone Age, were going to be performing in Italy while we were there. We contacted Dimitri and he was able to rearrange our hotel and travel accommodations, including a last minute domestic flight, without any issues. Dimitri and Christina made the entire process run smoothly. All of our travel tickets and hotel reservations were all available through the app. Our hotels were centrally located and were within walking distance from the major attractions. We really appreciated the private transportation arrangements to take us from the hotels to the train stations/airports, as well as the private tours. If you are planning on going to the Mediterranean area of Europe, I would highly recommend using Asimina Tours, they were awesome.
