The woman overseeing the party area was incredibly rude and confrontational with us throughout the party. Our guests obviously didn't all arrive at the exact same time, so some kids were swimming while others were getting food. We made sure the kids dried off before coming into the eating area, but she repeatedly became upset with us and insisted that the children needed to either ALL be swimming or ALL be eating and could not go back and forth between the pool and party area. It made what should have been a fun, relaxed birthday party feel stressful from the beginning. The most upsetting part involved one of our 11-year-old guests, who wears pants while swimming for religious reasons. She made him get out of the pool because his pants had pockets and told us they were a safety concern because they could "weigh his legs down." We explained that this is how he regularly swims, that he was comfortable and capable in the water, and that this attire was important to him. Instead of handling the situation discreetly and respectfully, it turned into roughly 15 minutes of back and forth while this poor child stood there embarrassed and uncomfortable. My daughter became so upset seeing her friend excluded from her birthday party that she started crying because she felt terrible that he couldn't participate. We eventually got the situation resolved and he was allowed back in, but by then the damage was done. A child should never be made to feel singled out or embarrassed like that, especially over something connected to his religious practices. The entire experience was so uncomfortable that we actually chose to leave before our reserved party time was even over because we were simply done dealing with the hostility. I completely understand that a public pool needs rules, especially when it comes to safety. What I do not understand is why those rules couldn't have been communicated to us respectfully, reasonably, and with some compassion, especially when dealing with children. We came here to celebrate our kids' birthdays and make happy memories with their friends. Instead, we spent a large portion of the party feeling like we were being scolded and monitored, and one of our young guests was made to feel embarrassed and singled out. We will not be returning, and I would strongly encourage other parents considering a birthday party here to ask very specific questions about their party and swim policies before booking.

Sandra's review is factual and was pointed out many times by many members who have as much right to enjoy a peaceful space as anyone. However when she requested to see the end of year books as its a member funded club she was denied them and attacked and bullied. Pathetic behavior. This used to be a lovely quiet pool enjoyed by everyone. It definitely had problems everyone would agree, broken glass, kids running, all rules posted on the wall but none followed. Drinking beer and eating in the pool on large floats. Loud music. Its very sad that people behave this way, or that parents allow their children to behave this way. Judging by the remarks of the manager or chairperson its really a low bar he has set for himself so probably not so surprising. I have happily attended many events here over the years and used the pool for 15 years but decided to change memberships as a result of this type of treatment of members. I'm waiting for the review when he calls me a liar :) He doesn't like facts.

Its really sad how this club has deteriorated in the last few years especially the last ten. Screaming kids, eating in the pool, floats the size of mini coopers, ball throwing hitting older members etc. Its pretty low when the committee refuse to provide financials to paid members for over 15 years stating that we can always join another club if not happy. A lot of negative things have happened in the last few years in our neighborhood sadly the pool is just another.

We played at Mirror Lake Golf Club in Villa Rica, Georgia this past Saturday, September 20, 2025…read more For a public or semi-private course in metro Atlanta in this price tier - under $100 on the weekend - the course was in great shape. Tee to green, the conditions were better than average in this tier. Value-wise, Mirror Lake is the kind of course I expect to play for $85 on the weekend. That's all you need to know. For details, keep reading. We played the Lake Course. The club has two 18-hole courses: Lake and Mountain. One of my golf buddies, who played Mountain this past Thursday, said Mountain was in good shape too. However, he reported the greens were slow. That's consistent with what Hannah, in the golf shop, told me when I called on September 16. She said the greens on Mountain were aerated about a month ago and therefore, may be a bit slow. Lake hasn't been aerated in months, so that's why I booked our group on Lake. Great customer service over the phone by Hannah. In addition to Mirror Lake, I spoke with her in July when I called sister club Chapel Hills in Douglasville. Both she and Macy, who checked us in at Mirror Lake, were polite, kind, and professional. The same cannot be said about another employee I spoke to at Chapel Hills, who was rude. More on Mirror Lake and its relationship with Chapel Hills below. We had a 12:00pm tee time on Saturday. It cost $10.66 paid online to GolfNow at the time of booking, for four players. We then paid $82.50 each at the golf shop at check-in. So the total worked out to $85.17 per golfer. Range balls included. Currently, the only way for the public to book a tee time at Mirror Lake or Chapel Hills is through GolfNow. On Tuesday morning, there were plenty of Saturday afternoon tee times available for both the Lake and Mountain Courses. Mirror Lake and Chapel Hills offer four daily rates on GolfNow: Morning, Mid-day, Afternoon, and Twilight. Like other courses, the later the time, the cheaper the rate. GolfNow also offers "Hot Deal" times which must be prepaid in full. Mirror Lake opened in 1999, I believe as a Canongate club, and it used to be fully private. In fact, Mirror Lake's address is still 1000 Canongate Pkwy. Canongate was acquired by ClubCorp on September 30, 2014. ClubCorp rebranded as Invited on April 22, 2022. Under ClubCorp, I recall Mirror Lake Golf Club and Chapel Hills Golf Club, both private clubs in Douglas County, were a package deal. You can get a single membership to both clubs for a total of 36 + 18 = 54 holes of golf. I noticed ClubCorp also did this with Bentwater Golf Club in Acworth and Eagle Watch Golf Club in Woodstock, though as of May 1, 2021, Bentwater and Eagle Watch separated; only Eagle Watch remains an Invited Club. Invited sold Mirror Lake and Chapel Hills to Silverline Golf Group in late 2023. Both clubs are still packaged together and are now managed by Bobby Jones Links, which I'm a fan of. Like many courses of its time, Mirror Lake was built as part of a sprawling subdivision. When I drove in this past Saturday morning, there were multiple yard sales going on. The club has a huge parking lot, which is needed for 36 holes and events. The club was bustling with activity which was a good sign. One of my golf buddies, who played this round at Mirror Lake with me, has been here at least a couple times for Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) events. Course notes: In this price tier, the Lake Course was in great shape overall, even the tee boxes. Some swaths of fairways and greens looked damaged or browned out, but nothing too concerning. We were pleased with the conditions. The course is beautiful and scenic with lots of sizable bunkers and water holes. The layout and design is interesting and challenging with a good variety of holes. I do think a few of the tee placements have odd angles into the fairway, which can separate great designs from just OK/good. The range had 10 hitting stations with a jumbo bucket of yellow Strata and white Titleist practice balls at each station. The golf carts were good-quality E-Z-GO ELiTE electric carts. No GPS. The sprinkler heads had yardages on them. No 150-yard markers. Starter Joel was friendly and helpful. No ranger/marshal nor food and beverage cart. Pace of play was fantastic. We didn't see the group ahead of us until the 16th hole and no one ever pushed us. Inside the clubhouse, next to the bar and grill, is a complimentary ice and water station -- a nice amenity. The clubhouse - and I assume the property overall - has seen better days. Mirror Lake's story probably isn't too different from hundreds of other clubs in metro Atlanta and across the country that were built during the last golf course boom that ended in the mid-2000s. The Frog (1998) is a good example of this. On the Lake Course, on-course restrooms and water stations on the front nine are located between holes 1 and 2 and between holes 6 and 7 (same facilities). On the back nine, between holes 11 and 12.

What used to be 36 genuinely enjoyable holes has deteriorated into an overpriced, poorly maintained experience that feels more like a neglected municipal course than a club worth paying a premium to play. The greens are in terrible condition, the rough is inconsistently maintained, and even basic details like properly kept tee boxes seem to have become an afterthought. The decline goes well beyond course conditions. Membership has dropped considerably, and it's not difficult to understand why. Longtime members seem to have taken a back seat to GolfNow traffic, outside tournaments, and seemingly anyone willing to fill a tee sheet. Member experience, course etiquette, and reasonable pace of play no longer appear to be priorities. Expect slow rounds, inconsistent golf etiquette, poor course conditions, and a price tag that simply isn't justified by the experience. The clubhouse doesn't make up for it either. There's no proper bar experience, the food options are underwhelming, and the overall amenities fall well short of what you would expect at this price point. The most disappointing part is knowing what this place used to be. There was a time when 36 holes here meant a quality golf experience. Today, it feels like ownership is focused on maximizing short-term tee-sheet revenue while allowing the course, amenities, and member experience to steadily deteriorate. There are far better places to spend your money. Until ownership and management decide that course conditions and the people who actually support the club matter again, I would strongly recommend playing elsewhere.
