There were 2 people in front of us and it took forever for them to place their order. When it was our turn the cashier was answering another employees question and didn't even realize we were already losing our patience because of the wait. My wife and I have been visiting this lovely little cafe every Wednesday for two years to hear the folk music group "Vamp til ready". We have eaten breakfast there a few times, too. Breakfast is served throughout the day, so I've had their Greek omelet for lunch several times. Their Southwest grilled chicken wrap is my favorite. I like it wrapped in a chipotle tortilla. It is only slightly spicy. Since I'm a pescatarian, I sometimes get their salmonburger or salmon salad. They also offer seasonally a shrimp salad which is fine. They offer three soups daily, all of which are delicious. If you are furnishing your house, you may wander in the Colonial American home furnishing and builders supply store which is attached to the cafe. The "DC" stands for "Decoration Center". The cafe has an espresso maker which produces great espresso and multiflavored cappuccinos, hot or frapped. Great spot in Mifflintown to grab a coffee, soup, sandwich, or panini. Soups change almost daily and there are usually 2-3 to choose from. The chicken bacon ranch wrap and the Reuben sandwich are great go to's - but there is plenty on the menu for anyone. They do have a drive through, although it may only be available for hot/cold drinks. I've been to DC Coffee and Tea before and it's been pleasant at best. However, on 10/23/2021 the experience was genuinely pathetic. When you stop and order two cups of coffee and it takes 30 minutes to get your order then it's time to share and let your experience speak for itself. What I observed is clear, unsupervised staff are cherry picking orders instead of a common sense approach of first come first serve. Wasting 30 minutes of my time wasn't the worst part. The worst part was witnessing clueless people behind the counter scrambling and still not providing service. Seriously the entire episode was embarrassing to witness and insulting to experience. Someone better step up and manage this hot mess with some kind of process or it will be a memory and likely a bad memory. read more

I was disappointed in this restaurant. The food is really good here and it's very clean. However I think they need to have someone come in and train their staff. I have eaten here in the past and got good service, but today was pretty bad. I counted there were about 6 girls working in there. But they were so unorganized. My friend and I ordered lunch. They give you a number to put on your table so they can bring your food when it's done. So we ordered a soup and sandwich and a beverage. Someone brought our sandwich and we had to remind her to bring our soup. My soup was good but luke warm. My friend said hers was good and hot. So they still didn't bring our drinks. I had to go up and get my friends ice tea and my water was sitting up there. I still didn't get my coffee. Finally I looked up there and a cup of coffee was sitting up on the counter. So I went and got it and ask if it was mine. So it wasn't very hot. So we ate and then decided to have some ice-cream. We had to go up the the ice-cream counter and order it. The girl then told us to meet her at the register and we could pay. We walked over there and stood and stood and she never came over. She seems to get distracted and started making a milk shake for someone else. So our ice-cream was starting to melt. So we went back to our table and I told my friend I would go up and pay before we left. If we wanted to be dishonest we would have walked out and not paid and they wouldn't have even known. I was a waitress for over 20 years and know what you need to do to get your job done right. I'm not trying to be critical. But who ever is the manager needs to train this staff. They need to assign certain jobs to certain people so someone can take orders, someone to man the cash register, someone to cook and prep the orders and someone to carry the food to the tables and someone to bus the tables. I have eaten here before and it was not like this at all. I wonder if someone new took it over. I'm sure I will eat here again because it's a nice little place, the foods good and the atmosphere is really nice. Just train the staff so they know what their duties are each day. They will find things will run a lot smoother if each person is trained and assigned a certain job. read more
