We got married in August and there were good and bad things about the DC Centre. The good: They set up all of our decorations, allowed us to do the ceremony in the same spot, put the chairs up, tore everything down and set up for dinner. Gave us the freedom to do what we wanted with the ceremony and decorations. It is a nice/beautiful venue when everything is set up. The bad: The bartender did not show up. They had a backup but she was extremely slow - there was only 1 bartender and it took 20-30 minutes for our guests to get a drink. It was frustrating all night for guests to get their drinks as a long line built up the entire time. Sharon - Sharon overpromises everything. Also very pushy and "sales"-y talking bad about all other venues in omaha. I can't tell you how many times she stated "well no other venue in omaha does this". Its all crap. Other venues do. Speaking of the overpromising: The cleanup. Sharon told us that at 10:30-10:45 the room captain will come and ask to pick up decorations, they will take presents out to the car, etc etc. They didnt. At 10:45 I had to ask the room captain when they would pick up and she gave attitude saying "I guess we could help", and was extremely unprofessional. We had to have all of our guests start taking things to the car, taking presents to the car, if we didn't we would have been there until 4 in the morning waiting for them to do it. This was the biggest failure and my biggest complaint of everything, because this is WHY we chose this place to begin with....we didn't want our guests to have to stay after and cleanup. The DC centre was extremely persistent on noone bringing in shooters to the venue. Which completely makes sense and is reasonable. We understand you don't want to use your liquor license and we understood. Not 1 guest brought in any shooters or alcohol (we had an open bar). I can tell you though, 1 of their staff members who was underage (high school at Millard North), we saw pouring alcohol into her redbull multiple times. They were so worried about our guests, but had no idea their employees were the ones they should be worried about. We paid for Champagne for the toasts. They did not deliver on this either. Mother of the bride had to go ask the room captain for the Champagne and she said "well they need to go to the bar to get it". No, again, this is not what was promised. They finally brought it out after getting upset with the room captain telling her we paid for it. We had a few guests who needed gluten free meals (we had a pasta bar). We told them ahead of time "oh ya no problem we will do that" - Sharon. Again, didn't deliver. We had to ask where the gluten free meals were. the room captain again got upset, like we were inconveniencing her, acted like she had no idea there was even supposed to be gluten free meals, and she went in the back and brought out cold noodles. Probably not even gluten free. Overall - customer service was HORRIBLE. Everything was great until the night of. The mother of the Bride went to voice her concerns to Jackie and Jackie literally walked away from her. Everyone there was so unprofessional. And we aren't looking for anything, no money back, we don't care. At the end of the night the bride and the groom got married, had a great time and it will be a memory forever. Just be aware of all of the overpromising and horrible customer service the night of. I just want others looking at this venue to know. And Sharon, Jackie or anyone else from the DC centre. The bride and groom arrived a half an hour late to the reception which caused a delay in the dinner time. The DC staff did a great job in delaying the food and were ready when the bridal party arrived. They had no issues with this and was very accommodating. The DC Centre staff set all the tables and did all the little things in preparation of the reception/dinner. It was such a relief not to have to set up or take down. They were reasonably priced for all the services they offer. Very friendly and happy to assist us. They had most all of our questions answered on the forms and contract. They were visibly available the night of the reception/dinner for any questions and issues that came up. Our menu choice was the Traditional American Buffet, the food tasted great and there was plenty for all guests. We highly recommend attending the "taste test night", to be able to taste all the different meal choices, which happens a few times a year. Tasting the food before will assure you that you are getting the food that you enjoy. We had a full bar Gold Level and there were no complaints on the strength of the cocktails nor was the wait ever long. Again, the staff jumped in and would not let large lines form. We were thrilled with the DC Centre and staff and we give the DC Centre 5 stars! read more

Save yourself the headaches and aggravation and stay clear of this place. My daughter's wedding was New Year's Eve, 2021. You would think that a place that hires out for weddings would be kind, supportive and helpful and experienced in customer service. NOOO!!!! A few hours before the wedding, Sharon yelled at the bride and groom and put the bride in tears. She threatened guests to be kicked out and threatened to kick us all out and cancel the wedding hours before we started. At rehearsal, Nicole, who was setting up tables would hear certain trigger words (like "candle" and "bubbles") and yelled across the room to scold us and remind of the rules. The larger bridal suite was promised by Sharon, but we were told by Nicole at rehearsal, that the smaller suite was all that was approved and only the bride and ONE attendant could be in that room. She kept telling me (Mother of the bride) to "check your contract, sweetie." As it turned out we were right and had the larger suite only to be kicked out of it an hour before the wedding. They had to move to the smaller suite. Mind you we were the only ones in the entire building. It made no sense to switch rooms. The bride and bridesmaids had to move all their things to the smaller room and now their staff had two rooms to clean unnecessarily. My husband and brother-in-law brought the bridal gown to the venue only to be treated rudely at the door and told to leave and come back at 1:00pm. It was ten minutes till. Prior to the event, we worked on a schedule with Sharon and we were to have guests start arriving at 6:00. They had placed a huge lock (and I mean huge, like those used in jails) on their doors and wouldn't let us in until 6:15. This was so embarrassing. Sharon also accused our guests and bridal party of "kicking off their shoes" and laying all over the place. Again, not so. These guests were dressed for a formal wedding, no one was doing as she accused. We felt like we were under a microscope, constantly being harshly reminded of their rules. Our photographer, who had done over 300 weddings, said she had NEVER experienced anything like it. She was truly mortified at what she witnessed. A groomsman, who is a DJ and has done several hundred weddings said he has never seen such unprofessional behavior from a venue. Many of our guests witnessed what occurred and they said they would never, ever utilize the dc centre for any event and would be sharing what happened with their friends and family. One would think that the owner (Pamela Christensen), who lives out of state and solely relies on Sharon, would want to hear feedback to better their services, but again...NOOOO!!!!! We tried to reach out to provide feedback but she ended up accusing us of bringing in liquor, which we did not. We had a full open bar; why would we. She basically said she would've kicked us out herself. Sharon had already provided very subjective documentation to her about us and she couldn't care less about what we had to say. Now we know where Sharon gets her "customer service skills" from. Although she was not present at our event, she seemed to know that our experience was not negative and said so. Please think carefully about your decision to hire this place for your special event. You will be promised the world before you sign the contract but will be immensely disappointed, frustrated and angered by the way this place treats you on the day of your event. If we did something wrong, we would expect to be treated like adults and with respect but lying, threatening, yelling and rudeness is not necessary and results in hard feelings and reviews like this. We just had our reception here and I couldn't have been more pleased with the entire evening. Sharon was great from beginning to end Andrea was our room captain. She was absolutely amazing. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding this last weekend and I was appalled by the treatment of the family at DC Centre. The only bright spot of our day was Jackie, who was trying to help us and be a positive light. Sharon yelled at the bride and was extremely disrespectful. Another worker, Nicole, seemed annoyed with us and called everyone "sweetie". She went out of her way to be unkind on a very special day. The whole day seemed like no one wanted us there and they didn't care about the bride, groom, or their day. On a positive note, the food was good and we made the best of the day, obviously. The way the family of the bride and groom were treated was just disrespectful and appalling. The photographer was shocked by how they treated everyone and could not believe how unprofessional they treated everyone. The bride was crying and the whole day was just one punch to the gut after another. If you are getting married, choose a different venue. read more

I've attended more weddings and related receptions than I care to remember, more than half of which will end in divorce, statistically speaking. If you're entering into the crap shoot that is holy matrimony, you want to make sure the place that you have your reception creates a fun atmosphere where people can consume enough alcohol that they won't remember the awkward and always-too-personal toasts or when the bride leaves crying because she's secretly in love with the best man. DC Centre is a very nice place to have a wedding reception, although some aspects seem more like a convention center than a reception hall, including the information kiosk as you walk in the door. The space is enormous and could easily host even a mega-super-wedding by my estimation, although I think that the number of guests at a wedding is not correlated with a successful marriage in any way. The bar services were excellent and the food was decent given the number of guests. Overall, this is a nice facility with good services. I didn't pay for the reception we attended here, so I have no idea about the relative cost. The DC Centre took care of a lot of the details that create hassles in planning receptions. read more

I recently attended a charitable fundraising event and luncheon here. The Centre is a pretty, long white building with columns making it looking a little bit like the White House from the outside. Inside, it was likewise very pretty with lots of space and high ceilings. The one drawback is that the women's restroom is fairly small with few stalls and sinks. During a short break, there was a line going out the door and down the hall. Easy to find near 118th St. in between Blondo & Maple and had ample parking. read more

This place has a terrible contract which they try to tout over everything. Even when they are unable to provide the requested service on the requested date they still demand that you pay in full. Please beware this place, the people within, and the terrible over arching contract they demand you sign. Beyond that they are slow to respond to an email. The beginning of my experience with the DC Centre was a good one. They offered so much for a reasonable price and a lot of things were convenient with booking with them. And I was going to be able to bring in treats and a hot chocolate bar and my mom would be able to make the cake...something other venues wouldn't allow. Once I said I'd book with them they had to change the contract 3 times before she actually included all she said she'd include. Once I signed the contract Sharon was difficult to get ahold of. I would email her and not hear back for weeks. Then weeks after that she'd email me a different response than the first one causing even more confusion. When it came to the month before the wedding we had our final meeting and she had forgotten she told me I could do a hot chocolate bar and then proceeded to tell me I couldn't do it because it was "too messy" and then when I explained it wasn't premade hot chocolate she then said it was okay again. Skip ahead to rehearsal and they had set up the room incorrectly. I asked them to change it and the room captain Nicole and the young boy that was there immediately started bitching that it would be too much work to change it. I said I'm paying you to do it the way I asked, it's not my fault they did it incorrectly and they will fix it. Meanwhile they are yelling at all my guests to get out of the way when they didn't even know they were in the way and they hadn't asked previously in any sort of kind way. Then I'm told again that I can't have a hot chocolate bar because they can't be held liable for the hot water. Yet they serve coffee no problem... Seems weird to me. We ended up making accomodations last minute to suit their changes they continued to throw at us. Now it's wedding day, my mom showed up at 1:30 to set up the cake and the event was supposed to start at 5 and they hadn't even set up a single table and the room captain was no where to be found. That being said my mom started setting everything up because ... Obviously it needs to be done? Then my now husband showed up at 3 with the photographer for pictures beforehand which was agreed to in the contract. Nicole cussed out my photographer and my father in law for being there too early and threatened security and to kick everyone out. She started waving the contract in everyone's face saying they aren't allowed to be there until 4 but it said very clearly in the same said contract that they were allowed to arrive at 3. They also hadn't vacuumed until after 4 and only after my husband told them they needed to get shit done because people will be there soon and it looked like shit. Then at the reception, the younger boy worker dropped a pan of potatoes and screamed "FUCK" which is extremely unprofessional. Then the room captain cussed out my DJ because people had drinks on the dance floor when they didn't know they couldn't. Once they were told they stopped but then she went and got security because they said my groomsmen were being "beligerent" because they were dancing. She threatened to kick my wedding party out of the building FOR DANCING! I never saw her smile a single time and I had MULTIPLE people come up to me to tell me "beautiful wedding, it's been a lot of fun, but I would never recommend this venue to anyone" everyone had the same experience. Nicole had no form of communication other than yelling and everyone was a nuisance to her. Anyone that interacted with her it was a bad experience. Anytime I needed her I couldn't find her and she was supposed to be accessible to me at any time I needed anything that's the way it was explained to me at least. I'm extremely unimpressed with this venue and the way they handled things. Plus the amount they complain about things being "too messy" is ridiculous. You spend a stupid amount of money to not be able to do things because God forbid they have to actually sweep afterwards. It was annoying. 10/10 do NOT recommend. I was so done with this place by the end of the night, I couldn't wait to just leave. Insane. I only gave it 1 star because you can't give 0 read more

We have had a terrible experience with these people and as a result, my daughter's wedding is 4 months away and we do not have a venue for the ceremony. Don't let the DC Centre lure you in with their outside wedding garden .... unless you are expecting less than 50 guests, don't mind parking lots on each side, and have no need for a sound system. They did an awesome job setting up for my wedding! The place looked beautiful and the food tasted good. We had baked chicken, au gratin potatoes, corn, salad, and bread. Our champagne didnt come out for the toast by accident but the bartender gave our wedding party free shots of patron and fireball to make up for the mishap. They also sent us home with the bottles of champagne. I also was short on some decorations that I brought in and they called me to let me know so I was able to get my decorations in before the big day. read more

I wanted to shout out to Sharon and Dennise at the DC Centre. I have never thought wedding planning would be so peaceful and well put. Mind you, I am soon to be wed next month. I had only 6 months to plan this. The DC Centre is well put. If you need catering, ceremony, reception, and best of all HEART, this is the place to be. I were timid and didn't want to tell my coordinator Dennise every struggle personally while planning and were touched when she happily greeted me with open arms and a warm touch. She continued as the count down continues to my big day. She never turned another cheek or dropped her peppiness. Sharon is also the same, she is genuine and will be honest with love and will go out her way in ANY means necessary, keep in mind ADULTS businesses have rules and regulations to follow too. So, going about what a contract says even with effort will not always be a yes but, a simple "let me see what I can do" makes my day to know at least they are taking my wishes into consideration. So, because I believe in connection and what you put out has a boomerang effect, remember three fingers are pointing back at you when your ready to point fingers at someone else. MIND you this is you asking someone to go above and beyond what their same rules and regulations are and follows for everyone. To others putting negative comments LEARN TO BE HUMBLE, GRATEFUL, AND UNDERSTANDING. In life you don't get what you want with a closed mouth, however when you speak chose wisely and be respectful of boundaries that are drawn, especially doing business. Your 1st impression is the last impression. I am excited to feel welcome, I have my bridesmaids amd brides too whom recommended the DC Centre, in person before my big day to wrap things up, they felt that love that speaks from the heart, and If you don't have a heart and understanding of other peoples needs of course you will NOT see eye to eye. My daughter was married on September 4, 2015. We chose the DC Centre almost a year in advance, I was worried after signing that it was too good to be true, as we were on a strict budget. They were friendly and available to answer questions, which I had a lot of every other month. The day of the wedding reception, they were not only accomodating, but made us feel comfortable. Every timeline was on point, from when we could enter to view decorations, the DJ was able to set up on time, and they decorated the way we requested. The night of the event, I only had one ? why didn't they have a highchair any where in the building? That being my only ?, was a small interference. As mother of the bride, I spent so much time visiting with guests that I never found time to go through the buffet line, however, I heard the food was good. It was a truly wonderful night. I especially want to thank the room captain, the wait staff, and the bartenders (provided by the DC Centre). The venue was welcoming, as well as clean! I had my wedding reception at the DC CENTRE and my coordinator was Maggie..She was kind and professional throughout the planning process. The reception was set up and ready for guest,,All guest was welcomed and me and my husband was welcomed at the door and escorted in by the manager. LOVED THAT!! I'm 24 and paid for my whole wedding every single penny of it by myself so I'm taking this very seriously! To start it off THEY BOOKED TWO CEREMONIES AT THE SAME TIME OUTSIDE! Maggie called me a week before my wedding and explained to me that the outside wedding that I've been planning on forever couldn't work because their computer messed up! So she offered me a step up in their bar and the whole decoration package! I think I deserved a bit more or at least my ceremony money back! She didn't even seem apologetic just walked all over me trying to say the it get bride was hard to work with and I was such a doll to work with! well day of wedding comes and the bridal suite where the bride gets usually gets dress at is taken by the people that get the outside ceremony so I get put back in the back office with no mirror to get ready in or no bathroom nothing ! And then I paid for an upgrade for the sign in table and the wishing tree was there but no cards to put any wishes on so what did I pay my 150$ for!! They said the food was suppose to be out for an hour and a half was out for only 45 mins! Forgot our champagne for out head table and had no cake cutter so my mom (mother of the bride!!!) had to cut the cake! And then lastly tried to shut it down at 11:15 instead of midnight I want my full 6 hours ! It was just a wreck but food was great though! read more

I had a Birthday/First communion party for my family at the DC Centre. They took the worry out of the entire event! The room was beautiful and the staff was on top of everything. We had a couple of family members that arrived late so we asked that they served the meal a little later. They did it without a second thought. I have a few issues that I would like to bring up from my daughter's wedding on Saturday night. 1. My husband had a few drinks on Saturday night and was asking the bartender why she couldn't serve past 10:45. He was not threatening her or harassing her. I was there and so were a couple of other very sober people. The agreement was he was doing nothing more than anyone should have been able to defuse easily. She went and got - who I learned later was the "Assistant Manager". And that was her right and I probably would have done the same. He came out literally screaming at my husband to stop harassing and threatening his bartenders. I tried to intervene and told my husband that it was in the contract and asking your assistant manager if he would take it someplace other than right there in the front of the room in front of the guests. He continued to literally holler loud enough at my husband to the point where there hadn't been a scene, there now was. He then threatened my husband and told him he was going to throw him out and went and got a security guard. By the time the poor security guard came to the back of the room my husband was already back in his seat. I talked to the security guard and smoothed things down. Then to make it worst - I go out in the lobby and there is my sister in law who was defending her brother sitting in a chair with your "Assistant Manager" standing over her and hollering at her loud enough that several people heard exactly what he was saying. Those people called me the next day and told me that he was telling her that he was the assistant manager and he could shut the whole event down. That's when I showed up and told my sister in law to go and sit down. I told her to just go. I told him that he was the only one causing a scene now and that I would take it up with you on Monday. This started with a tipsy father of the bride asking if the bar could be kept open later and then getting mad that it couldn't and not getting mad in a threatening or harassing way. Wow - if your facility can't handle something like that without your people causing huge unnecessary scenes - you've got the wrong people dealing with it. Then to top it off - I'm sitting at a table with a friend after everything had settled down and your wonderful people person assistant manager comes out and throws a copy of our contract on my table and tells me he wants me to show it to my husband. Your assistant manager is a bully and it was agreed that Sam and Tyler (the bride and groom) would be the ones making the call on who got thrown out if anyone. 2. I realize that you had said that the second bartender was in a serious accident and that was why only one bar was open at the start time our contract agreed on. I understand that these things happen, however the one thing I had told you over and over was that I did NOT want a line at the bar. You had assured me that a third bartender was available to set up a bar also if needed. Apparently that was a lie as to we couldn't even get two bartenders going. I had a line at the one bar that was open during the first half of the cocktail hour going to the middle of the room. 3. I was also told that there were other events scheduled at the same time. But I was assured that that they were at different times and wouldn't be an issue. What you failed to tell me was that they would be switching out their rooms from wedding to reception at the same time that our guests were arriving. The lobby was packed with people when our guests arrived and our photo booth had to put up a sign telling people which wedding there were there for. 4. The bass beat from the wedding next door could be heard in our room all night long. 5. Two woman from the wedding with the loud beat got in a fight in the parking lot and the cops were called. I'm sure our guests were very impressed with that one. This one I realize you can't control all the time. It just added to my appreciation of the night in general. 6. Our event officially started at 5 with the bar open at 4:45. None of the candles were lit at 5:00. They were still going around and lighting the candles at 5:30. 7. When they asked at 10:15 if they could start tearing down - I asked if they could wait at least until 10:30. I tried to help out the room captain as much as I could. He was the only one doing anything as far as I could tell and he was completely overwhelmed. But I wonder why in the world would you even be asking us to start tearing down???? We paid for our reception to go until 11:00. 8. When they were tearing down and blowing out candles - they spilled wax on one of the guest's items that were still on the table since the reception was still in progress. read more

The D C Centre has the worst customer service of any place I have ever been to. My fiance & I signed up for their wedding package to take 4 dance lessons to use for our wedding day. We signed up for private lessons which cost $140 thinking that meant we would have the same instructor for our entire 4 lessons. What they don't tell you is that they will pass you around to other instructors & it is your job to contact them to try to fit on their schedule which is much easier said then done. Our regular instructor told me he would call me back 5 times to setup our lessons & didn't call back a single time. He then passed us on to another instructor who also would not call us back to schedule a lesson. On top of that, we called to try to get our money back since we could not get even 1 of our 4 lessons on any one's calendar & even the manager was very rude! He could care less about the poor customer service of his employees, he even had attitude & was yelling at me during our conversation. You will be very disappointed if you chose to take lessons here! read more

I had recently visited the DC Centre for my up coming wedding. On of my requirements for a venue was to be able to have my dog in my wedding. The wedding coordinator told me that would be no problem, but the dog would have to leave before the wedding reception due to the food; which I understood. I didn't up picking this venue, but I recommended to my friend because like me she wanted her dog present. She had a viewing with the wedding coordinator, her and her mother asked several times about the dog being present. The wedding coordinator told her the same thing. The evening of the wedding rehearsal a man came in and told the bride loudly she was not to have her dog in their facility. She informed them of the wedding coordinator already approving it. He then said we had to keep her in the wedding room and could not have her leave the room and she was not allowed in the building before the wedding and would leave immediately after. This upset the bride greatly. The next day the bride came early and viewed the reception and wedding hall. She had to make several corrections. The lights on the table were suppose to be blue and pink; they only used pink. They lost her toasting flute flowers and tried to replace them with others. They temporary lost the cake table mints that were later discovered missing when the bride and groom went to cut the cake. The staff were asking the wedding party 5 minutes prior to the wedding for their id's and several times while taking pictures, all at inconvenient times. The staff was suppose to cut up the wedding cake, but never did. The family ended up doing it. Ten minutes before the wedding we brought the dog in to cleaned her up, put on her tux and pillow, and tried to get her and the flower girl together. A staff member told the mother of the bride when we were 5 minutes from starting the wedding to get the dog out. A guest had to hold the dog outside for 2-3 minutes and then bring her back in. The bride had no pictures with the dog prior to the wedding and only got 3 pictures of their ring bear/dog (with the bride, groom, and then all together). There were no flower girl and ring bear pictures. The bride was very upset throughout the day. It made her special day very stressful. The staff was very unprofessional, unorganized, and rude to the bridal party. The wedding organizer lied to the staff member and told them she never said a dog could be present. The wedding organizer was never there and never made contact with the bride. I wouldn't even give them one star they don't deserve that. They are extremely accommodating prior to getting your money but after you pay the full amount before the wedding they are a totally different staff. I recently got married at the DC Centre and I was completely disappointed with the service. We were told it was going to be a hassle-free day and that they were going to take care of us. When we showed up for the wedding, it took us 30 minutes to even find anyone that worked there. It felt like they had forgotten we were even coming. The tables for family had not be reserved and people didn't know where to go. The room manager (who we were told would greet us at the door) did not meet us until 6:15 when our wedding started at 6:30. We had to go with the cash bar option (because their pricing is ridiculously expensive) and the bar was not fully stocked for guests. On a good note the food was delicious and the dj was awesome (but the DC Centre wasn't in charge of the dj). If you are getting married soon and our interested in the DC Centre, BEWARE! The facility is beautiful but does that outway the risk of how you will be treated on your big day? read more

"Buyer beware" The initial contact with the business went great, polite and friendly. I was told that everything would be taken care of on the day of the event. On the day of the event May 16, 2015 at 5pm event guests began showing up. By 5:30pm several guest had arrived. The banquet hall began getting extremely hot and the staff stated the air conditioning was not working for this particular hall. The rest of the building had air conditioning. I spoke with the night manager and he explained they were trying to get it fixed as soon as possible. The person who I signed the contract with was in the building but refused to speak with me. The air conditioning wasn't fixed until approx 830pm so for 3 hours the guest suffered in the heat. I asked for and got one fan to try and circulate the air in the room. The hallway and all the other rooms had air conditioning. Not to mention the building only owned one fan. On Monday I went to the business to speak with the person I signed the contract with. This person was in charge of the entire building. She was confrontational and rude asking me why I was there and she had fulfilled the contract and ac was not in the contract. She stated I was rude to her staff on the day of the event but she could not back up her statement because her staff that was at the event denied her claim at that time. She never once apologized for any inconvenience and was not willing to give any type of compensation for the issues her business had.
