Because this Ford is conveniently located at the auto mall, my aunt stopped her to look at purchasing a car for my cousin. They worked with David Lynn for a few hours looking at different vehicles and discussing cost. Due to a language barrier, they asked us to come and help them to ensure they were understanding everything clearly as it is a big purchase. When we got there, the price seemed a bit high, so we searched inventory at Mullinax. They had almost the identical vehicle for significantly less. When we told this to David, his reaction was just that - reactive. After further conversation to try to get them to price match, he finally said, "C'mon I've been working on this for 3 hours and you're really going to walk away?!" As a person who works in the retail industry, I was immediately taken aback by this. He could have easily said, "I understand you want to go check them out. I'm telling you this is the best deal you'll get, so here's my card for when you realize that." But instead, he reacted out of emotion. He then went to get his manager who came up rather aggressively stating the same that it was the best deal. He then threw his arms in the air and said, "Are you serious?! We've been working this deal for 4 hours!!!" Again, wow...that is not how you treat a customer. I wanted to write a review because no one should stand behind this type of service or support this type of service. It doesn't matter how large or small and item being purchased is, the seller should show the buyer respect. There was a grouping of salesmen sitting around at the front of the dealership chatting, so I approached them and asked for the manager's name. Another guy was approaching and they said, "He's a manager." I explained the situation to Michael "Congo" Fuguet and he immediately got defensive and said, "You're a DM in retail...so you're telling me if someone spent all that time with you and you didn't get the sale, you wouldn't be frustrated?" He proceeded to try to make me feel bad for not making the purchase and I told him I wasn't going to continue the conversation. Answer: If I spent hours on a sale and the customer had a change of heart and felt they would get a better deal elsewhere, no I wouldn't get upset. It's not personal. I looked at his name tag and he proudly said, "Oh you want my name? I'll even give you my business card. Here you go!"
All in all, this dealership is led by some incredibly immature individuals that are out for themselves. The experience was very uncomfortable. David even said my cousin told him certain things (eg leather seats) were non-negotiable and she wanted them. When we were driving home, she said she didn't want leather seats and he said that was the only option. BEWARE of this dealership. We went to Mullinax today and no hassle...they didn't try to upsell, they didn't get frustrated, they were patient and listened and got the sale. David referred to the package we were looking for as a "unicorn" to try to save his sale. Mullinax had it and was surprised it was considered so rare.
While I realize this is a lengthy review, I think it's important for consumers to know the heart of the leadership team they are supporting with their business. read more
