The outlet that handles Daytons pick up & sales could use a little customer service improvement. The day I ordered I was to call back & leave my form of payment. They all went to a party & didn't answer the phones. This was very nerve racking. Then when I picked up the Sod they warned me the sod was very fragile, and gave me a couple extra pieces for the trouble. In fact it was very hard to lay, broke up into pieces. Probobly took me twice as long. I liked picking the sod up in Dayton so much more. Why they changed I don't know. read more

Gotta give it up for this awesome local business. While they're not a full service garden center and nursery, having been in the agriculture business for decades in our area means there's a wealth of knowledge about farming and gardening in the high desert hiding in this lot on the corner of Kietzke and 2nd AND you can bet they can tell you what to do or where to find exactly what you're after in the area too. Cary Yamamoto and his family have been farming in the high desert since the earlier part of the 1900s. While the business grew to be focused on sod, the generations of experience make this a great place to find what you need and get some valuable insights too. I mean, if you can grow grass in the desert then you should be able to grow anything right? I was waiting all night to write that out. Hope it lands like I thought it would! I dropped in for something totally unrelated to gardening, but when I remembered I needed a few bags of great soil for some tomato pots at home I was so happy to find a full selection of Full Circle soils just waiting for me! Pricing and info was easily understood on the pallets and after walking up to the window and paying, the team promptly loaded it into my truck! That's serious service, which you really don't find at the other places. I also loved the fact they sell the Full Circle products in cubic yards! That's a whole lotta soil BUT if you're doing some major overhauls that's the way to do it! I'm excited for their Bonsai Blue Farmer's Market to start June 17th. They have such a great array of produce and some vendors you don't find at the other markets, including their own goods! I love that they grow a lot of Asian veggies because those are simply the best tasting, in addition to being super interesting and fun! read more

The customer service is fantastic! I called on Thursday a little after closing time for a quote. Sean actually answered the phone even though they were closed for the night, restarted the computer and provided me a quote and placed my order. The next day I changed my mind and requested a rush delivery rather than what I had scheduled. They made it happen and delivered the product the same day. The following (Saturday) I noticed I was short some of the soil and they promptly dropped everything and brought me the remainder. This was on a very busy Saturday for them and they were at my house within an hour!!! The lawn had been in 2 weeks and it looks great. I used their dirt, prep products, sod and fertilizer. Prices are very reasonable, staff is helpful and knowledgable and the SERVICE IS OUTSTANDING!!! I will definitely use them if I ever need to put in more lawn read more

Had 1000 sq feet of sod delivered in late March. Did everything I was supposed to do. Tilled the dirt, added the amendments, everything. Unfortunately, when the sod came it was mostly dead and full of weeds. I thought it was just dormant, but it is still all brown with only a few spots of green. I'm wishing I had just gone to WalMart for the sod now. read more

This sod was lush and green. I under ordered so I went to the Home depot to fill in. The garden center guy said that they had switched suppliers and it was very obvious. The quality of the sod is excellent. And they delivered for free because I ordered 2 pallets. YAY local guys! read more

These guys are awesome! Friend gave us a gift certificate for our new home. Had no idea what to expect, and would not have expected half of what we got in service. We ordered our sod, and I was unable to get a truck at the last minute to pick up ourselves. The guys at the shop scrambled, loaded a truck and where at my house unloading within an hour! More than worth a nominal delivery fee, considering it was last minute and faster than I could have expected. It was a pleasure dealing with the office, and I'm greatful our friends directed us to Dayton Valley Turff. I'm looking forward to doing second yard next year, and I know who I'll be dealing with for sure! read more

My truck was damaged when these guys loaded my sod. They first offered to have it repaired but refused to provide me with a work truck for the 2 to 3 days mine would be in the shop (my only mode of transportation) Then offered cash, pennies on the dollar for repairs so that I could have it fixed at a later date. When I requested that it be turned over to their insurance they changed their story and lied to Farmer's Insurance who in turn denied the claim. I will never buy sod from them when I get outstanding service from Western Turf...plus I will be sure to tell my friends about how this family runs their business. read more

The worst experience I've ever had. Turf was dry after sitting in the truck for less than 24 hours and watered. Don't trust them.

As I am not from this area I asked around at work for some reccomendations on getting sod. This was one of the first places suggested and I made the call out to have the YardMaster consultation. The information from the soil analysis was very good and they did their best to explain what each result meant and how to fix it. That is the only positive I can find from this experience. When they came out to measure the lawn they used a shovel, since they forgot their measuring tape at the previous site. The measurment they gave had no regard for a raised garden or flower beds and was more than 100 sq feet off of what my actual need was going to be. After some back and forths on the phone I was under the impression I was scheduled to have sod and fertilizer delivered, and that I was to recieve a phone call about payment. On the day it was supposed to be delivered, after not recieving a call in the last 4 days, I called them only to find out they had not ordered anything. After I was told that they had been waiting for information from me, which they werent, and soon realized I was correct they offered to set up delivery for later in the week. At this point I was done, and while they did attempt to make up for the mistake I decided not to use this service. read more
