I contacted Daystar plumbing on January 1 and the owner picked up and explained the details I need to do and help me so much. I really wanted to thank him for his generosity to share the knowledge and information on a day that I had the emergency. So, I could resolve the issue myself with his help. read more

Tim is very knowledgeable and listens carefully to all the details of the issue. He solved the multiple issues that I had with the leaking and malfunctioning toilet problem. He is very thorough and great to work with! And he even thought farther ahead to prevent possible water damage! read more

There are one-star reviews for Timothy (I'm not the first) for a reason. I can write in detail all of the issues I endured with this "professional" but I already know his modus operandi - which is to refute all issues - in a demeaning, disparaging and condescending tone (he's done this with me via phone, text and voicemail). If you don't believe me, read his responses to his 1-star reviews. He doesn't defend himself - he simply attacks by demeaning those who criticize his service. All this to say, i had a horrible experience with Timothy; his attitude and in particular - with his unprofessional approach and dialogue with my 19 year old daughter. While he may know a lot about plumbing, he knows very little about maintaining even a modicum of professionalism in the face of disagreeing with a customer. Think twice (or maybe 3 times) before hiring this man. read more

Timothy is a highly skilled, very careful plumber. I wish he would write a book about the history of plumbing - he knows the what and why of code changes over the decades inside and out. His knowledge in this field isn't just interesting - it's extremely useful if you happen to have an older home, as I do. I would recommend Timothy for any plumbing job, but I would especially recommend him for weird jobs in old houses - if anyone can figure it out, Timothy can. read more

No one....NO ONE...has ever called a plumber in a good mood. Because of this, I'm not surprised to find that most plumbers are a bit standoffish - they tend to only hear bad things from their customers. So it began when I found I'd had a toilet slowly leaking for around 15 years...one day, it hit the breaking point, and I found a first floor ceiling starting to sag. After hitting up yelp, I called Daystar Plumbing...and was more than a bit surprised to not only get a living person on the phone, but the owner himself - Timothy. He was on a job, but took the time to listen to my tale of woe, and rearranged his schedule so that he could be here when my water mitigation guy was here. He showed up on time (and here I'd always assumed that was against the Plumbers Creed), was incredibly polite, looked at the problems, and proposed a solution (fix the leaking toilet...doh!). He got on it....took the toilet off the floor, showed me the problem (yes, chalk another winner up to Kenmark Construction - home of the worst...truly the worst...contractors that walk the planet), and proposed a rather interesting solution....that worked. I found Timothy to be just a great guy - and from what I can tell, a great plumber. Can't recommend him enough for coasties. He's the best. read more

I have had Timothy from Day Star Plumbing help me out with various plumbing issues for years now. He is very professional and has always been able to solve my plumbing issues quickly and at the same time charging reasonable rates. He even goes as far as to give me a ring if I'm having some smaller plumbing issues and helps me solve them over the phone at no charge. Just today he walked me through, again over the phone, some troubles I had with my garbage disposal. He was able to identify the issue and my garbage disposal works again. Turned out the cat had crawled under my sink and pulled a plug out. I highly recommend Day Star Plumbing! read more

We just have had our dripping Delta single handle shower faucet fixed. The handle was rusted out too, so it required a cutting off, but he did all that work quickly and we are off to the New Year with completely fixed shower. Tim is very easy to work with and very responsive on his cell phone and text messaging. He will even tell people honestly, when he is too busy to handle immediate issues. He can receive and respond text message and especially it will make his job quicker if you send him the picture of the issues. He will give you updates as to whether he is delayed etc. He will also clearly explain what he will and has done and provide any recommendations and also give you the price up front. Often ends up less than he initially quotes. He is Pacifica based so for the coast-side residents like us, he is an excellent resource to keep our plumbing in good order. Highly recommended. read more

Daystar Plumbing did a great job. Tim was right on top of things, clearly explaining what the problem was and how he would fix it. A part had gone out on our water heater and we had zero hot water. Anyway, he got the part, installed it and we have not had any problems since. Tim is very personable and efficient and I highly recommend him. read more

Timothy is a skilled plumber and a business owner of high integrity. Our home is a mix of new and ancient plumbing and the ancient parts are fragile. He was able to replace faucets and drains in two bathrooms successfully with no collateral damage. Watching him work was like a lesson in home construction and plumbing. He does not mind explaining what he is doing and why. He is careful and respectful of property. We are very happy with the results. read more

Timothy did an awesome job replacing my garbage disposal. He explain what he was doing. He also fixed my master bedroom bathroom sink and check all the toilets in the house for leaks. Timothy is very thorough in his work. He is honest and the price is reasonable. I highly recommend Timothy at Daystar! read more

I think I got off on the wrong foot with Timothy and that's the main reason for my unsatisfactory experience. I called about a small leak I had outside my home while I was at work hoping to set up an appointment for a free quote as the Daystar website suggests. We started to talk about the leak and I got the feeling Timothy was trying to diagnose the problem over the phone which was OK but due to the nature of the problem it was sort of a waste of time. I suggested a quick visit to take a look at the problem since the house is very close to where Timothy works and he indicated that this would cost $150 per hour for the first hour and $60 per half hour after that. Since I wanted to get an idea of the magnitude of the problem prior to committing financially to getting the job done I told Timothy I would call him back after I had had a chance to explore other options. He explained to me that a free quote other plumbers would give me wasn't really free since I would end up paying for it in the long term but I felt uncomfortable committing to a job with someone who hasn't even seen the problem. I think Timothy either wasn't happy with my decision or he felt he could not do the job because he told me not to bother to call back. At one point in the conversation he also gave me the name and number of another plumber friend of his so perhaps he thought this job was too complex. read more

Timothy is incredibly helpful and has wonderful customer service. I was not able to book him for his plumbing services, as he was already booked. I read glowing reviews about him on Nextdoor.com and needed a plumber same day. Even though he wasn't available, he still asked what my problem was and identified the issue. In addition, he provided a few recommendations for other local plumbers that may be available. Thank you Timothy at DayStar for providing excellent customer service! I will definitely call you the next time we need a plumber! read more

This is key. Timothy answers his telephone. You call and 99% of the time you get him. This shows he is dedicated to his work, and interested in your business and your problems. Others - forget it. It goes to message; voicemail; unhelpful answering service. He has the cellphone attached to his ear, and even if he is at another job, he responds to your call. Second, He gets to the heart of the matter right away. He will ask you questions about your problem and give you possible solutions. It's free at this point, so be straightforward, honest, and give him as much information as you know. It might be something you can do. If not, then make a decision. Set an appointment. Upfront he will charge $95.00 ( $ 20.00 off for mentioning yelp ) for service call. But if you did the above, you know what needs to be done and the service charge is a so what. You have an idea what the overall price will be. Timothy is knowledgeable, relaxed and personable. He is a good guy. On the job, He will give you all the options and the costs. Then, he goes to work. If there is something discovered, he will call you to review and again, give you options. I had a hot water heater replaced. The old one was 17 years old with sediment and rust; it needed a platform; new valves; etc. Timothy did a great job, and a great clean up. I highly recommend him for your plumbing jobs. read more

It isn't often that you meet someone like Timothy who is honest, trustworthy and really knows what he is doing. We have used a couple plumbers since we moved into our new home, and I came across Daystar Plumbing by random chance. I always felt uncomfortable with the other plumbers that did a couple jobs for us as they always seemed to try and force additional repairs on top of what I had hired them to do to make some more cash off of me. Timothy has always been up front about his fees, he has never taken advantage of us by purposely extending the amount of time it takes to complete a job, and he actually educates me while he's working so I can do some of the work on my own the next time I have an issue! I have never had a contractor do that! His work has always been reliable as well and the 3 jobs we have had him do for us were of top quality and we have not had any issues since he completed the repairs for us. He has also been accommodating as well and always finds time for us within a few days to make the repairs we need (in fact, he came within a half hour after I called him during a week night at 7:30 when we lost all hot water to our house). I would highly recommend Timothy. He's very procedural with his work, always professional, a pleasure to talk to, good at what he does and seems that he would never give us the run around (meaning he does exactly what he says he will and can do). read more

Timothy from Daystar is a star, and is the first call I make for any plumbing issue. He has serviced our SF home a few times over the years, and because it's plumbing, we always need service in a hurry. He is always incredibly responsive. He's also very personable and smart. Tells me more about my waterworks than I'll ever remember...but it's greatly appreciated. It shows he really cares about his clients, long after the house call is made. In this last incident, I called him to service my aging water heater. He talked with me on the phone for 10 minutes to assess the situation completely (no other plumber ever does this, they get off the phone quickly and just show up). He had me tweak a few things -- which solved the problem and the cost of a house call... and lots of time. While I can't say that every plumbing issue cost me no money (!), I can say that Timothy will not recommend a part or a service that is unnecessary. And the pricing is always fair. (One quick note -- I see there is a one star review among many glowing ones for Daystar. When I read that low review, I wonder who wrote it...a competitor? Because there is absolutely NO WAY Timothy would treat a client this way. None.) read more

After getting stood up by another local plumber, I called Timothy of Daystar Plumbing after reading good reviews on Yelp. He was courteous, thorough, professional and showed up on time Because the job ended up being simpler that expected, he charged me less than what he quoted on the phone. Purchased a new refrigerator but delivery folks unable to install since the shut off water valve was leaking. Delivery had to have it fix before refrig installation. Timothy from Daystar came on very short notice on the same day and repaired our valve. We were so lucky he came within the hour of calling. He explained everything in detail as to what would be done. Honest and dependable. Our water line is now working well thanks to Timothy. read more

Knowledgeable but charges $75.00 (that is $20 off from $95 for mentioning yelp) for consultation and examining your shower. The consultation and exam lasts less than 10 minutes and spend more time writing your invoice. I have never encountered this kind of service . Even first time MD consultations, therapists, dentists, and other services are free. And no, I am not a competitor. One star for charging $75 consultation/exam. read more

Tim is quite a fellow. I give this guy a five star because the end product / service was 100% + 10% awesome. I work in IT...and the finished work looked like it could easily have been put into a computer data center. no joke. I had to giggle. It was that neat. Tim did quote me above all other plumbers. But, after talking with a few others, it became clear to me that Tim was going to do the work the right way the FIRST time. I quizzed the other plumbers on the water heater. In the end, I decided Tim was giving me the work requirements straight. Dont scrimp on your water heater. get it done right the first time. read more

We've been having a problem with the water heater in our apartment for about three weeks. The heater is "tank-less" meaning that a pilot light needs to be lit and stay on! so that the water is heated on the fly. So basically the light would not stay on and would not light. Our regular maintenance person came out about 4 times in this period and each time it would fail shortly after he left. He finally called Timothy @ Daystar as he is listed as an expert in these types of units. It's been about a day and the light hasn't gone out yet; which is great and hopefully it has been fixed for good, and if so deserves a 5 star review. But over 5 stars for thsi service b/c even though I don't know jack about engineering he took the time to explain all the issues and mechanics in a way I understood about not only the water heater unit but all the pipes and plumbing in the apartment, how I could save $$ by tweaking settings and how to knowledgeably troubleshoot problems if they occur again. Super smart guy! Great service; if I need a plumber in the future I will def give him a call. read more

Timothy is amazing. He spent the DAY with us replacing some nightmare ancient plumbing, which included a rat mess under the dishwasher. He removed the dishwasher, installed a new garbage disposal, redid ancient plumbing, cleaned up a horrible mess which was NOT in his job description, all cheerfully and explaining everything along the way. He also made contact with an electrician to explain our mixed up wiring problem. It is so refreshing to find a plumber who is patient and thorough and tidy and polite and personable. And COMPETENT and SHOWS UP. Highly recommend. Thank you so much for your help! read more

Timothy has to have the highest integrity of any plumber out there. He is beyond thorough. I have called him on numerous occasions and many times, after a lot of analysis, will decided he's not the right man for the job?!?!?! Huh? An honest plumber? SHOCKING! When he does do the job, its thorough, quick and a nice intellectual discussion always gets thrown in for free. He sorted a really messed up pipe-job under my kitchen sink and fixed a busted bath/shower spigot that needed to get done ASAP. Recently when looking to tap into house plumbing for irrigation he came up with a plan that would do the job and I could do myself. He figured out the problem and didn't seem to care that he was going to lose an afternoon's work. Thanks Timothy read more

Efficient, knowledgeable and professional, Tim is an outstanding and trustworthy plumber. Our garage sink drain had a continuous leak which we couldn't figure out (we hardly use the sink!). We called Daystar, and after sending photos and asking a few questions, he had an inkling of our problem (it was tied to condensation originating from our high efficiency furnace). He was able to swing by our home, diagnose, and replace the corroded drain and parts...all on the same day! Thank you, Tim and Daystar, we now have our go-to plumber! read more

I have known Timothy for the last ten years as a top notch plumber as well as an excellent craftsman and fine human being. Timothy is an awesome guy! I was having problems with my hot water heater that another plumber came to look at. They attempted to fix it but left it in the same state as when they came. I emailed Timothy after hours. At about 10pm he emailed back suggesting course of action with the manufacturer and to contact him after. On the phone, by text or in email you are not going to get a friendlier guy with a wealth of knowledge. You, sir, are in my book as "The Plumber" now. Thank you Timothy. read more

Timothy does incredibly clean, beautiful work and gives realistic quotes on cost and time. He's one of the most straightforward contractors we've had. His work entailed capping a gas pipe, removing an outdoor faucet on our deck and replacing it with one on the house, and a fix for a fitting from meter-to-house (that PG&E notified us about earlier). He did this all in less than a day and for the amount quoted, which was absolutely reasonable. read more

Daystar Plumbing - Plumbing Near Me

I highly recommend Timothy Cowan, owner of Daystar Plumbing. He is knowledgeable, professional, explains what is happening and what your options are - - and is VERY honest and fair. You cannot go wrong with Timothy! We woke up after a big storm and thought I heard drip, drip, drip coming from our garage. Oh dear, is the roof leaking? No, not the roof. But it was lucky that I heard the dripping because it turned out that our water heater had just blown. No hot water and the possibility of 40 gallons of water emptying into my garage. I immediately called Timothy Cowan, owner of Daystar Plumbing. And he answered on the third ring! We have used Timothy's services before to install two high profile toilets and a new kitchen faucet and were very satisfied with his work and his honor/work ethic. He quickly drove over to ascertain what the situation was. Discussed replacement of standard water heater or moving over to tankless (we asked him and he gave us pros and cons). We made our decision to stay with electric tank water heater and he said he'd be back the next day at 9:00 am with everything needed to complete the job. And he was! We are very pleased with the repair and bringing us up to code for safety. Timothy is your go-to man for your plumbing needs! PS = accepts Credit Cards read more

Timothy was great. He came in and fixed our toilet and replaced a major part that didn't work. He seem to know what he was doing and went right to fixing it. His card says "insightful. Mature. I would absolutely call Daystar for any future plumbing needs and gladly refer to him to friends and family. read more

Timothy from Daystar had come recommended by another plumber because he was specialized in Hans Grohe faucets. This recommendation ended up being a costly mistake. He came over and attempted to fix my defective faucets. Without any success, he requested to have the water shut off for the entire building but refused to be the one shutting it off... Two hours later, Timothy charged me $280 without having done any work. A few weeks later, another plumber came in to check my faucets. He quickly diagnosed the problem, shut the water off, cleaned the filters out and my faucets were back in business. Even better, he charged me $240 for the whole thing. read more

My biggest fears of owning a home was that repair bills were going to be made by me instead of my landlord. Two months into home ownership I already had my redwood gate blown down by high winds, body damage to my car from falling limbs of the tree in my front yard, and fence repair due to the recent storms. So when I noticed the water getting colder and colder while showering one morning, I knew something had to be up with my water heater. "Great!" I said to myself. "Here's another $700 repair." I felt like I was just kicked in the stomach. I didn't know much about water heaters, but looked at the date of the installation and read it was installed back in 1999. I figured it was probably time to replace it. I began looking around online looking online at Lowes and Home Depot for a good deal. But it was a Saturday and I had to work, so I didn't have time to shop for this thing. I started looking for plumbers on Yelp and called a few in the area. I got no answer. Then I came across Timothy's listing. He answered his phone right away. I described the problem to him and was very empathetic. He wasn't able to come to the house right away, but he asked specific questions about the water heater and from the information I gave him he seemed to diagnose the problem. Turned out I had a bad thermocouple. He described the repair I would have to do so took his advice. Double checking how the repair would be done on online, replacing the thermocouple seemed pretty easy and it was. So I go from spending $700 to replace my water heater to spending $8 for the broken part and taking 15 minutes install it. I don't think many plumbers would take the time to give anyone free advice. Timothy is a rare, honest businessman. You can be sure if I have any plumbing issues in the future he will be the first one I call. Highly recommended. read more
