It's never a fun to have to call the plumber, but I was happy to call Jarred because I knew that we could trust him to do the job right. This time, our old house needed a toilet replacement upstairs. Couldn't agree more with Cindy below: Jarred is a bonified pimp, perhaps one of the best servicemen I've ever had come to my house for any reason. Sunday afternoon and I'm at Whole Foods spending too much money on food for a dinner party that night when I get a call from my woman. The garbage disposal unit made an explosion sound, shot out some sparks and smoke and then shocked the shit out of her when she tried to turn it off. Ehhhh, not what you want to hear when you're about to cook for new friends, one of whom is a professional Chef, for christsakes. And now one of us will have to take time off of work to be at home for a plumber some time during the week, fucking hell . . . When I get home she tells me a plumber's on the way. On a Sunday? She said she called 4 and got nothing but voicemail, but on the fifth call Jarred picked up and said he would roll by. Weird. Homeboy shows up and looks a lot like Mac from Sunny in Philadelphia, so he's off to a good start. Tells me he can swap the disposal unit out in an hour for $95 labor. You can't get slapped in the face in this town for less than $150, so right on. But he has to go get the parts and won't be back until 6pm, the same time my guests are slated to arrive . . . So I'm prepping like a bitch, trying to get everything done before all hell breaks loose. By the time Jarred gets back I've got the cheese plate out, my salad put together and my Cioppino is cooking on the stove. Jarred --who actually took off his shoes before entering the house, without me even having to ask -- spreads out a cloth to protect my floor and gets to work. (I mean, any work under the sink is intrinsically dirty bizness, but Jared's got it laid out like he's doing surgery so it's not nastying up my good dinner vibe.) We retire to the living room for drinks, everything's going great. After a few minutes there's a knock at the living room door. It's Jarred. He took time out from his work to come tell me the timer on my stove was going off. Read that again: not only is dude busting out some seriously orderly sink repair on a Sunday afternoon, but he's stopping work to come tell me my Cioppino's done simmering. Seriously, bro, slow it down, you're making most other plumbers look like donkey shit. Less than an hour after he's started and dude is DONE. I've got my warranty, he explains how to revive the unit if it screws up and he even takes my personal check. And damn, we offered him a beer and invited him to kick it for a minute, but he's so pro-styles he wouldn't even take us up. He takes the old, shitty unit with him (along with all the trash from the new unit) and insists upon sitting of the front porch (rather than inside on the comfy carpeted steps) to put his shoes on. Just an ace. Bottom line: Jarred not only fixed my stinky sink shit in no time for an entirely reasonable price, but he also displayed some of the best and friendliest manners I've seen in a minute. We spent the time and got 5 different estimates and the range was about $100 off, between price and attitude Jarred is by far the most courteous and upper middle of the park (Ace, Discount, Works Plumbing, O'Grady was the worst). One of Jarred's guys answered his phone, made an appointment, we called the night before to remind them; 3 guys showed up (more or less on time but they called and said they'd be late), and did the job. We paid about $475.00 for changing an off take valve, replacing a waste and water line for a dishwasher, running a copper water line and hooking it up to the fridge. There was some inexperience (one of the guys hooked up the wrong valve to the wrong line and had to redo it, so I guess Jarrod was training the other 2); but I caught it in time so no harm. Did we over pay for the work? Yeah a little (if you take $30.00 off the valve and $10.00 for the piping it's $435), we didn't need three guys; but they brought booties for their feet, had a good attitude, cleaned up after themselves. Jarred charges by the hour and they took 2 1/2 hours. They billed me for the time to get the valve and piping. I'd use Jarred again. But, I'd recommend if you hire him, go through exactly what you need done before and after and make sure they show you what exactly they did. Agree to more or less the time needed to do the job before hand. Which, with Jarred's good attitude and the team's general good attitude, wouldn't seem to be a problem. They're nice guys. read more

Jarred is the BEST. I needed a plumber urgently on a Sunday afternoon and I went to yelp and I called 3 plumbers before calling Jared. None of the plumbers I called answered the phone except Jarred. In fact, I am still waiting for a call back from all 3 plumbers I left a message wtih that day. Anyways, Jarred answered the phone on a Sunday afternoon and was very professional. He told me he could come look at the problem and he was over in my house within thirty minutes. I could not believe the service! On a Sunday! When Jarred arrived he was professional, and very nice, and he immediately identified the problem and told me what I needed to do to repair it. He said he could go get the parts and could be back to fix it within the hour. And he did. He was VERY reasonably priced, he was very nice, and well mannared, and very clean. He only charged me for the time he worked (none of this rounding up to the closest hour bullshit). When he was done with the work, he left my kitchen in the same condition it was before he started all his work. I have had several different plumbers in the past, and they have left dirty footprints on my tile floor, have left the counters they work on dirty, but not Jared!! I cannot say enough good stuff about Jared. Not only is he a great plumber that does excellent work, he is reasonably priced, he does not try to sell you more work than needs to be done, and ultimately he is very nice and professional. From installing our tankless water heaters, to handling our major house renovation to simply unclogging our shower drains, Jarred is the best there is. Talk about perfection! We had a need of a plumber to install a Toto toilet in our upstairs bathroom. Jarred and his colleague came promptly to our house and began installing the toilet. They had to drill through our thick bathroom tile, which required a larger drill, but was up front with the extra work involved and began meticulously drilling the holes. Jarred also recommended caulking around the base of the toilet in order to prevent dirt and in possible water leakage. The patio had standing water after heavy rain Wednesday; the drain was full of debris, obviously clogged. I called Jarred Thursday. He came yesterday afternoon. He had to siphon the water out of drain to assess the problem. Concrete had been poured in drain, narrowing the pipe. Jarred spent 2+ hours using "snake" with a bit to chip away at the concrete. They took the time to cover their shoes before stepping into the house and were extremely courteous and professional. They replaced my kitchen sink piping and removed the old garbage disposal unit (Twenty years old!) quickly and without leaving a mess. I felt the fee was very reasonable.
