It opened back in 1988 and I have stopped in a couple times over the years just to look around. There are so many big round bolts of material head high and on many aisles. There is one other fabric store that might be able to compete with Carter's on pricing but I guess it comes down to the amount of variety in the designs and prints available for your needs at the time.

I do find their fabric selections to be much smaller in scale at their new location even though it is extremely larger. I don't understand that. They don't have upholstery silks or faux silks and crepes which is a disappointment. I do miss the volume of selections they had at the old location. None the less, the staff is just as helpful and pleasant as they've always been. As far as prices, they are competitive with other locations. Still my go to fabric store.

I needed fabric to recover some antique chairs, and I found the perfect pattern here. The salesperson was very nice, but I did have to wait a little while for someone to assist me. The store was very busy that day, though, so I was patient to wait my turn. They also have a nice selection of ready-made draperies and rods, although I hesitate to buy anything very pricey until my kids are old enough not to spill grape juice all over them. I didn't see alot of fabric that could be used for kids' room, and I did have my eye out for some colorful gingham. All in all, though, a great store, and one I'll be visiting again.
