Last year my long time groomer retired and close shop. I tried Dawn's because the location was close to home. From the start, the haircuts were inconsistent. I expressed my concerns, even having to take my dog back once after a grooming. I continued to return because they were close to home, however, after my last visit, I will not return. I asked for a low cut. Not only did they do a horrible job cutting his face, but they actually shaved down to his bare skin, leaving him irritated, with some patches of razor burn. I called to report what we experienced and told the owner I would not return. Her response was a very nonchalant, obligatory apology. Not even asking for an opportunity to make it right. Ive been coming for 3 years with 2 fur babies. I was shocked and disappointed at the level of service receive. I was lied to and told my lab had been bathed and paid only to find out that he was never bathed. When i questioned them they refunded my money and apologized. I didn't expect this level of dishonesty from them. my small baby was to get the full package not sure if he was bathed because he still has they dye in his head that he had from last year. I took my dog to Dawns Doggie Day Spa on February 12, 2025 to get his normal groom and wash . I noticed when I picked him up and got home that he wouldn't get out the car . I had to pick him up and put him on the ground and he was in extremely pain. I tried to get him to walk but he wouldn't , I rubbed his back and he screamed as if he was injured! I honestly don't know what went wrong or what did the pet groomers do to my dog . I called and complained about it . They told me to bring him back so they could see whats wrong . I took him back to Dawn's Doggie Day Spa , they looked at him and examined him then noticed that something was wrong with his back ! They did nothing but told me to take him to the vet . I told them that my dog haven't had any injuries or problems before I took him there . I took my dog to the vet , they ran X-rays on him and told me that my dog have a prolapsed disc in his back ! They told me that he needs immediate surgery and that the surgery will be from $9,000 to $13,000! I honestly do not know what to do or how to take legal matters in this situation. I called Dawns Doggie day spa back and talked to David Ellis . He agreed to handle the vet bill which was $916 for just the treatment, but when I got to meet him to get the money he only gave me $450 and said he can only cover half . I argued back and forth with David about how I shouldn't have to pay for something that I wasn't responsible for . I'm a 100% my dog was injured at their establishment he had no problems before . It's crazy that I always took him here and this particular day something went wrong , I told David to review the cameras to see what went wrong with my dog at they establishment, he claimed the cameras wasn't working properly because of the storm we had on 2/12/25. Something is just not right with this whole situation and it's like it's my word against theirs arguing about my pet being injured on their watch . I would never recommend anyone to take their dog's to Dawns Doggie Day Spa. This place isn't safe for anyone to take their pets here !! They need to be shut down !!!! read more

DONT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE !!!!! The first time we brought our dog there he was ok yet the second time it was like a shelter filled with barking dogs like 15-20 dogs & there's no way a dog can get the proper attention & grooming when so many dogs were there ( he didn't even smell good it was like they just shaved him without bathing him !!!! Our dog is definitely traumatized hes not happy & playful at all he's withdrawn & not himself hes not interacting with anyone & he winches & cringes when she goes to pet him so something happened to him while in this places care & we have never had or seen him like this after we had him groomed In Pa so something happened to him & we will never take him there again !!!! There is a dramatic drop in service as my dog used to enjoy going but recently he will do anything to escape going in the front door.

I just took our dog Precious there today and when I picked her up she was lethargic and unresponsive and looked petrified!...we will never take her back again..obviously she was mistreated there or not handled properly...all she was there for was a bath!.. I took my dog here twice and each time I was dissatisfied. The second time was the final straw. I asked that my pooch be cut a certain way and the owner simply ignored my request for MY pooch. She looks horrible. I am so embarrassed for my pooch, so I won't show how she looks. The only nice thing I can say, is that she smelled good each time. I gave detailed instruction both times on how my dog should look and not once was my directions taken into consideration. I will never visit again and pay to be a dissatisfied customer. Now if, I had acted out the way I was feeling in my head, it would have been I was wrong. Go figure! Horrible!! I am sure everyone is not satisfied on Facebook on Dawn's Doggies Day Spa. I have been going here for about a year, and I was truly surprised by the good service. The only bump we hit was on our first visit, where my shihtzu was cut too close to the nose, and he has a red rash there for days afterward. The next time we went, I asked that he not be cut so low, and let them know about the reaction, and it never happened again. I have found the staff to be accommodating and friendly. The recognize my dog, and always welcome him in a way which makes me relax when I leave him there to get groomed. This is really important for me. I also love that you can see all the dogs, instead of them being hidden in the back until it's their turn to be groomed. The newly groomed dogs get rotated in a little pen, where they can stretch their legs, while displaying their new cut in the front window, which I also like. I give this place a solid 4 only because a 5 has to be absolutely spectacular, with little to no improvements needed. The decor here could definitely use a facelift, as well as other small, nitpicky things, but ultimately, I feel secure leaving my dog with these people, and I know they'll get the job done for a fair price. Nov 30, 2017: Dawn truly should bottle and sell the spray/shampoo that she uses! It smells sooo good (I think she mixes/makes it herself). I took my Maltese in for her bath/groom 8 days ago, and she STILL smells wonderful! I've been taking her to Dawn/Tia for almost 5 years now. Dawn gives her "puppy cuts" in the summer and longer styles in the winter -- she's so good at what she does! And she surprises me each time with the cute bows, top knots, side ponies, double buns, and all the other creative things she does with her hair : ) Whenever I go to pick up my dog, Tia is loving on whatever baby she is cutting. I recently had an awful experience with this business and needed to let others know how unprofessional the owners were in how they handled my situation! I have been bringing my Maltipoo here for grooming for about 6 months and for the most part was very pleased with their services with the exception of two occasions when the owner and "master groomer" Dawn, who brags of 25 yrs of experience, groomed him. The first time my dog was groomed by Dawn, although I asked that my dog NOT be cut too low, she complained of matting and shaved off ALL of his hair! I was shocked when I came to pick him up and couldn't understand why he was bald. I was advised by Dawn's husband, David that she said he was matted and she had no choice but to shave off all his hair. I know for a fact that my dog is well kept and could never have been THAT matted to warrant that action. He offered some lame excuse saying that a harness can cause matting? (my dog rarely wears a harness, by the way). I did bring my dog back because on several other occasions he was groomed by another young lady who did an awesome job, and never complained he was matted. I recently brought my dog to this place to be groomed, and this time he was literally scalped! I honestly didn't even recognize my dog when I saw him..he looked like a huge rat! Dawn shaved him down to the pink of his skin and again complained of him being so matted she couldn't do anything else but shave off all his hair! She even saved what she said was the "matted hair" to justify her scalping my dog! She even shaved off ALL of the hair on his face..was his face matted as well? I think not! When I complained, David got an attitude and said "I obviously didn't brush my dog to remove matted hair, and Dawn actually hung up on me when I tried to get to the bottom of why she felt the need to scalp my poor pet! Obviously, I was not valued as a customer and advised that I will no longer patronize their business! A simple phone call would have been nice to give me the option of authorizing such a drastic measure, but she did what she wanted to do and what me as a customer wanted didn't seem to matter! I am a reasonable person, but I felt that the way I was treated as a customer was appalling,and although I was very upset at how my dog was groomed, the manner in which I was treated only added insult to injury! That is the last $45 they will get from me! read more

I wish the 3 stars said "NEEDS IMPROVEMENT" instead of A-OK. I've taken my dog there about 5-6 times. Here are the Unbiased Experiences: -Extremely Cost Effective!! -Hit or Miss with shedding fur -The young man that took care of my dog a few times was GREAT! Clean as a whistle! -When the owner took care of my dog, it was horrible! You gently touch her and fur still came off. -Their appointment schedule isn't too customer friendly. (Pick up by 5pm during the week and normal work hours...vs Extending their hours till like 7 or 8 so people can get off work)..THEN their weekend schedule is Always full. (Probably because of the Cost Efficiency) -Twice, I've taken my dog there and she came back Dehydrated. Panting a LOT, tongue sweating and running to the water bowl the minute we got home. I shouldn't have to mention to the workers to please make sure to have adequate water for her. (That's a Severe Health Issue!) -Lastly, she went in fine...but came out covered in Fleas. That week, I had to travel and work and when I called to let them know of their flea problem and if they could re-wash the fleas off, they said NO. Ebony was very professional in saying No, however that didn't leave me with a safe regard for a Great Experience in Customer Satisfaction nor comfort in knowing they'd take care of the problem. An EXTREME disappointment. And completely unwilling to come to a satisfactory conclusion, while blaming the customer for bringing my dog there and saying I should know they have fleas. OVERALL, You get what you pay for here. Sometimes it was great depending on the worker...and other times it was A Mess. In looking at the comfort of my dog (multiple times of dehydration, still covered in loose fur after a cleaning, and covered in fleas after a cleaning...) it's probably best to take my dog somewhere else... for her sake. PS. I just wish the Good times outweighed the bad times. But the Bad...is REALLY BAD. A simple re-washing would've secured the satisfaction of the customer, gave better customer service, and ensured a better review. But we can clearly see where Customer Service is on their totem pole. No company is perfect, but their response to the imperfections is what gave them 3 stars. read more
