Finally got a chance to stop in and pick up a couple of prime Rib Eye steaks. When I got home and opened the package i discovered that each steak was over 40% fat. I'm not talking about marbling, these were thick 1" bands of pure fat running through the steak. After trimming there was about half the steak left. On top of that, when I got home and read the receipt, there was a $6.36 "convenience fee" for using a credit card I was never told about. Sorry, but I won't be going back. Holy moly! I've purchased a few times here since they've been in business. This last time I bought some lamb chops. The friendly gentleman assured me that the price ($$$) was definitely worth it since they are domestic. Oh my good heavens... if I didn't know they were lamb I would've guessed they were a high cut of beef tenderloin. They were absolutely amazing. I've reviewed before. Was there today to bring steaks for grilling to Sierra Vista tomorrow. See my prior review. Steaks well-trimmed and beautifully marbled. Lots of alternatives in the freezer and amazing smoked pork chops! Because of the excellent trimming, prices are very competitive. Because of their meat source, the end result is far better than supermarkets. Can't say enough. I have no idea how the naysayers hold credibility. I'm a Costco fanatic...and this place is far superior. If nothing else, just come browse. You'll understand. read more

All the meat in the cases looked old and in the process of drying out. there wasn't much meat there so they may be out of business by the time I post this. I called in the morning to see if I could pick up some beef and pork fat for grinding burger and the person promised to set aside 13 pounds for me. I arrived at the designated time at 4 PM and nothing was set aside. The person scrambled to take 1 pound packages out of the freezer and many of those were from last year (in May!). Some of the fat was gray and I had to throw it out because it didn't look edible and I didn't want it in my burger. All of that for the sum of $2.79 - $2.99 per pound. Really disappointed and I'll be going back to Dickman's from now on. I don't know how a butcher shop can treat customers like that and expect to stay in business. read more

Ordered two prime ribeye steaks that were upwards of a hundred bucks and have had better choice ribeye for a bit less than one of these prime ribeyes so wont be doing that again. Also called them to order and buy a 1/2 or 1/4 side of beef, they weren't the slightest bit interested unless i had them throw the pieces together from the counter cuts, basically that would probably have cost much more than me renting a freezer truck and driving to Texas beef country and getting a 1/2 side of beef and it probably woukd have been thousands cheaper. It pains me to give this review, the meats are great and there was a gentlemen who worked here that was very friendly and knowledgeable. I guess he no longer works there. But the poor review is for the snotty woman behind the counter that was just plain rude. The poor girl at the register even had to apologize for her behavior. Sadly we've also recommended this place to friends, and when we shared our horrible experience they also had run ins with an unfriendly woman there. So sad because she's losing this company customers. We won't be back to deal with that and our friends won't be going back either. Bummer read more

If you are looking for a high quality butcher with the type of customer service that your grandparents raved to you about "back in the good old days", then you need to try this place! I came in on the Fourth of July to get something special to cheer up my girlfriend's dad. He was born on the Fourth of July and had big grilling plans, but because he had to have leg surgery shortly before the Fourth, he couldn't grill. This had him kinda down in the dumps on his birthday and I thought that if he couldn't grill, I could at least cook him a delicious steak to help cheer him up. But, since it was just before pay day I only had 74 dollars to spend. My girlfriend said a tomahawk would cheer him up and I went to get it only to find it priced at 106. I was disappointed but thought I can still get him a nice porterhouse, but the guy helping had overheard my conversation with my girlfriend and found a way to reduce the price so my girlfriend's dad could have the steak! I was so shocked at the generosity, I just kept thanking the guy! So to the wonderful people working here, and especially the guy I spoke to, thank you so much you brightened my girlfriend's dad's day and you made a customer for life! read more

Clean store, great staff who are always ready with advice. One of a few places I can find marrow bones for my dog, and they will even cut them down to size. If you don't see your particular cut of meat, ask them, and they will probably be able to order it. read more

I picked up short ribs for my dinner party and they were so good - meaty and good size for one (or two for big eaters) per guest. It's nice to have a meat market close to my house and everyone is so friendly and helpful. I especially like grandpa who hands out sample of meatballs and brats and welcomes you in. This was hands down the best steak besides Ruth's Chris. I normally just eat the sides and nibble on the steak, when we have steak night. I ate this filet immediately, before even tasting the sides. It was so tender I didn't even need a knife. The people were so friendly as well. The twice baked potato also did not disappoint. I ordered a prime rib last year at the beginning of December to be picked up 3 days before Christmas. I wanted to make for Christmas dinner. When I got there they charged me over $600 for a prime rib. Feeling kind of ripped off and overcharged. Just bought one today same size at Costco for $140. I had seen an article online about this new mest location on the north side, so I decided to stop by. Walk in they had the basic selection of beef, pork, and sausages. Beef was labeled prime, and choice, and well as a case of different sausages from breakfast to brats. Then behind was a big freezer of the more "specialty" things such as liver and different things. Also had a good selection of different spices and rubs. I ended up getting a prime strip, and a wildcat brat. After getting home and looking at the strip, I am not gonna lie it didn't look that great as far as prime standards go. It looked just about the same as a good choice cut from Albertsons. I threw it in a marinade I use for beef for 30 min, let it get to room temperature, and grilled it. Steak was honestly chewy. I wasn't that amazed. I also got a "wildcat brat" that I had this morning. That was pretty good, I qoukd buy that again. Long story short, steak was a disappointment, brat was good, and I'll come back one day just to try their seasonings. read more
