Fresh off the grill lamb chop
    Tracy Z.

Holy moly! I've purchased a few times here since they've been in business. This last time I bought some lamb chops. The friendly gentleman assured me that the price ($$$) was definitely worth it since they are domestic. Oh my good heavens... if I didn't know they were lamb I would've guessed they were a high cut of beef tenderloin. They were absolutely amazing. I'm always wary of heating lamb up as a leftover, but I did tonight and it was still wonderful!

    a display of meats

Visited for the first time and they had a great variety of meats. It was clean inside and only a few people there at the time. Tried one of their hamburger patties to try at home and it was delicious! Staff was nice. Good place to go as an alternative to shopping at your local grocery store!

I paid $2.99 per pound for this rotten fat.

All the meat in the cases looked old and in the process of drying out. there wasn't much meat there so they may be out of business by the time I post this. I called in the morning to see if I could pick up some beef and pork fat for grinding burger and the person promised to set aside 13 pounds for me. I arrived at the designated time at 4 PM and nothing was set aside. The person scrambled to take 1 pound packages out of the freezer and many of those were from last year (in May!). Some of the fat was gray and I had to throw it out because it didn't look edible and I didn't want it in my burger. All of that for the sum of $2.79 - $2.99 per pound. Really disappointed and I'll be going back to Dickman's from now on. I don't know how a butcher shop can treat customers like that and expect to stay in business.

    Prime Tomahawk Steak

If you are looking for a high quality butcher with the type of customer service that your grandparents raved to you about "back in the good old days", then you need to try this place! I came in on the Fourth of July to get something special to cheer up my girlfriend's dad. He was born on the Fourth of July and had big grilling plans, but because he had to have leg surgery shortly before the Fourth, he couldn't grill. This had him kinda down in the dumps on his birthday and I thought that if he couldn't grill, I could at least cook him a delicious steak to help cheer him up. But, since it was just before pay day I only had 74 dollars to spend. My girlfriend said a tomahawk would cheer him up and I went to get it only to find it priced at 106. I was disappointed but thought I can still get him a nice porterhouse, but the guy helping had overheard my conversation with my girlfriend and found a way to reduce the price so my girlfriend's dad could have the steak! I was so shocked at the generosity, I just kept thanking the guy! So to the wonderful people working here, and especially the guy I spoke to, thank you so much you brightened my girlfriend's dad's day and you made a customer for life!

Pork Meatballs. I roasted them and added a jar of Rao's sauce and I had dinner on the table. Everyone loved them!

I picked up short ribs for my dinner party and they were so good - meaty and good size for one (or two for big eaters) per guest. It's nice to have a meat market close to my house and everyone is so friendly and helpful. I especially like grandpa who hands out sample of meatballs and brats and welcomes you in. So nice to see a family business.

Superb! Knowledgeable, friendly and fabulous! Meat tastes like getting it fresh from the butcher in Indiana. But, better!

I have no idea why I procrastinated coming here, because this place just earned a permanent spot on…read moremy list. I stopped in on a very specific mission: ingredients for a ridiculous pozole-pho fusion experiment. I'd already been to one of my usual Asian markets, forgot half of what I needed (because apparently I like making life difficult), and figured I'd give this place a shot. My first thought walking in was, "Oh, this is smaller than I expected." About three minutes later I realized, "No... it's just efficiently packed." The produce section keeps going farther than you think, the shelves are stocked with all the staples I recognize, and then you hit the meat department... and wow. Seafood, pork, lamb, goat, beef bones, organ meats--you name it, they probably have it. If you're looking for something that makes the average grocery store employee say, "We don't carry that," this is probably where you'll find it. I grabbed pho spices, fish sauce (and was genuinely excited to find a vegan fish sauce option!), two pounds of beef bones, and an onion for about $15. Honestly? I expected to spend more. I also stumbled across a Jamaican section, which completely caught me off guard in the best way. I was there with tunnel vision, otherwise I probably would've wandered around for another half hour convincing myself I suddenly needed ingredients for three different cuisines. The checkout was quick, the cashier was friendly, and while the parking lot was surprisingly quiet, don't let that fool you. This isn't one of those giant, chaotic destination markets, feels more like the neighborhood spot where people already know they can find what they need. It is nicely organized which made my quick stop in very easy. I'll definitely be back. Next time I'm giving myself permission to actually browse instead of speed-running my shopping list. Something tells me I'll leave with way more than I came for... and honestly, I'm okay with that.
