I don't usually leave Yelp reviews, but I am making an exception for Davis Square Chiropractic. I had a lower-back emergency recently, and I was able to get same day appointments not once, but twice, with their newest chiro Dr. Gazda. My second appointment came the day after a bad back spasm, and Dr. Gazda basically worked a miracle to fix it - she threw everything at me, including electrocuting my angry muscles into submission. She was great, very professional and easy to talk to. I won't say that I'm looking forward to frequent appointments, because hopefully I am on the mend, but I am very glad to have found Davis Square Chiropractic. read more

Over the past couple of years, I've gone in to see Dr. Herzog with everything from lower back pain to neck pain to hip/leg pain and there hasn't been a single visit that didn't result in some relief. Even when I'm not in specific pain, I always feel better after the adjustments Dr. Herzog makes. She also does an excellent job of pointing out any problem areas and what may contribute to them, which makes me more conscious of my daily movements as well as what I can do to help keep my body pain-free. It's always a little scary when someone has your neck and head in their hands, but I trust Davis Square Chiropractic completely. Would give 10 stars if I could! read more

I went to Dr. Scott Rosner (at Davis Square Chiropractic) for some serious recurring neck pain. I was pretty distraught and in pain going in there but could not be happier with the outcome of my visit. First of all, he is a super nice guy and makes you feel comfortable like sitting down to have a beer with a good friend. Second, he obviously has a lot of experience and can easily explain all of the scientific whatnot behind the pain. Lastly, he snapped me back into working order along with diagnosing the problem (In my case it turns out I was hunching over my computer because the level of my screen was too low). He gave me stretches and a plan to stay out of their office which is why I am giving them my highest recommendation. Dr. Gazda has been taking care of my back and neck for a couple of years. I first saw her when I had neck pain as a result of overcompensating from a shoulder injury. It took several adjustments, but eventually she straightened me out - literally. They take major insurance, and are always available, often on short notice, to give me an adjustment when needed. Four years ago I hurt my back. I reluctantly went to Davis Square Chiropractic (I had heard mixed things about chiropractors) and I am SO glad I did. Dr. Shadrick explained my injury, a herniated disc, and helped me walk again. Seriously - I couldn't even walk before I went here. I started going several times a week and eventually my insurance wouldn't cover it anymore. I had to have surgery on my lower back which I am 100% positive would have never happened if I could have kept going to Dr. Shadrick. Once my insurance started over for the new year I went back but I moved away and stopped again. That might be in my top five regrets in life. I just went back to Dr. Shadrick this morning after two years and I will make the drive to see him once a month from here on out. My girlfriend and I followed Dr. Shadrick from his practice in Arlington, where I had begun visiting him at her insistance. I had been dealing with back issues for several years which eventually lead to being discharged from the Army with the title "Chronic Lower Back Pain" and the loving information that it would only get worse. After seeing Dr. Shadrick for the past 2 years my back pain has gone down significantly from needing narcotic strength pain killers (Vicodin, Percocet, Oxycotin) to barely being noticeable. Aside from the pain decreasing he enthusiastically provides myself and my girlfriend with exercises and challenges to maintain whatever improvements he helps us gain, and he has yet to forget one in 2 years. I don't know how much more personal and honestly helpful a doctor can get, but he has definitely set the standard I use to evaluate anyone I see from now on. read more

I've seen chiropractors on and off for 10 years for various reasons (an exaggerated curvature, a car accident, general muscle tension and occasional spasms, TMJ, and now what I call preventative maintenance). Dr. Dave is the BEST chiropractor I've ever seen (certainly more hands on than Dr P who used to run Davis Sq Chiropractic). He alters my treatment based on my symptoms and what he sees and feels. I try to go a few times a month and do strength training, yoga, acupuncture, and get massages. My back's not perfect, but Dr Dave tries to keep it aligned as best he can. It doesn't hurt that he's also really nice and always remembers previous visits and my whole history. read more

I went to see Dr. David Shadrick for an issue I was having with my neck. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and he was able to speak to me on a very professional level about what was going on in my body. He spent a long time with me for my first visit, I think it was around 1 hour. He was always thorough during our sessions, making sure that I was comfortable and I understood what I needed to do in the meantime in between appointments to maintain the work he had done. He gave me exercises and stretches to do as well. I was very impressed when he gave me a recommendation to see a podiatrist for my bunions. I really couldn't be more pleased with this chiropractor and I will recommend him to anyone who is looking for a kind, caring, professional, intelligent chiropractor! Thanks Dr. Shadrick! read more

I would like to take the time to say thank you to Dr. Shadrick. My husband was recently in a bad car accident and is suffering from neck, headaches and lower back pain. When we first entered his office, we got a very warm greeting from both the doctor and his receptionist. I could tell by the atmosphere of the office that we were in the right place. The doctor was so friendly and understanding and he explained everything in detail of my husbands diagnosis and what he was going to do to make him feel better. My husband had his 2nd visit today and is feeling a slight improvement already. The doctor did tell him from his injury it would take a little longer to start feeling better. Wow. Hands down the best Chiropractor I have ever been to! I've been to many over the last 20 yrs. Dr Shadrick is not only a master at his craft, but at listening to his patients. So many Dr's don't really listen. Every painful area on the body is addressed, and made to feel much better. I have honestly felt relief for the first time in years. I am a huge fan of chiropractic care, but I have had a lot of difficulty finding one I liked in the Somerville area. I had previously been seeing a great guy in Dorchester, but the commute over there was tough. I reluctantly made an appointment here, expecting to be disappointed, but Megan Gazda is great! She listens to your concerns, and happily answers questions. It isn't very difficult to get appointments, but I usually make them at least two weeks in advance. They seem to accept most insurances, and payment is really easy. They email receipts which I am a big fan of. As for cost without insurance, I couldn't tell you. read more

I've been going here for years. Dr. Pellicani gets the job done. He does tend to be high volume with severl patients recieving tratment at the same time but that doesn't bother me. I have been to several chiropractors, and therefore have the benefit of comparison. What sets good chiropractors apart is their assessment skills, and their practice is comparable to others of their peers. In my experience, the best chiropractors were ones who took a verbal history, assessed the whole spine, and were able to pinpoint (I do not exaggerate) where the pain was without my saying anything. These people adjusted only the problem areas. On my first visit, the chiropractor at Davis Square, asked me where my pain was (I told him, neck and upper spine) and proceeded to adjust those areas without assessing the rest of the spine, and he did these adjustments indiscriminately. My past chiropractors told me it was my lower spine that was causing the upper areas to be problematic - yet this chiropractor never went near it. I admit, the hot packs were a nice touch, but the use of the massage machine was jarring. If this chiropractor used his hands, he would have found where the affected areas were, and concentrated his efforts on them. That would have been more effective than running a machine indiscriminately over my back. After only a couple of visits, I stopped going to Davis Square Chiropractics. I have degeneration of my cervical spine, and was afraid that his indiscriminate adjustments of my neck might have dire consequences. I do not believe that my needs were met at this clinic. The chiropractor lacked assessment skills, he did not hone in on my problem areas, and the use of a massage machine shows a lack of care. read more

I started going seeing Dr. Shadrick after being diagnosed with bone spurs and a bulging disc in C5 - nothing can be done to my neck but the rest of my spine, pelvis, knees and ankles can be tended to. I am an equestrian and needed to be completely re-aligned. I have had some tough falls from horses which resulted in a build up of scar tissue. Dr. Shadrick understands the limitations of any adjustments to my body and understands my need for pelvic balance. With his work and specifically prescribed homework I have been able to begin jumping my Thoroughbred i bough in May 2012. I could not be happier - my trainer is happier with my new alignment and my horse is happy to be back to the job he loves. I was reluctant to go to a chiropractor from the general impression I had of the field and because I have a medical condition that makes it a bad idea to do things like stretching. However, I had been to multiple doctors and physical therapists and none of them had even noticed that I was literally tilted to one side and had all told me it was just my patellofemoral syndrome that was causing my knee pain. So I was feeling a little desperate. Dr. McCarthy immediately recognized exactly what was going on with my hips and fixed them, along with my upper back, and my knee pain was gone, along with other pain I'd been having. He also told me it would probably only take a few sessions and then I could self-manage, which I really appreciated. I went back a second time and things went similarly well, but I realized between the amount of improvement I had gotten, the risks involved given my medical condition, and a few other factors that I wasn't quite in the right shape to be a regular. They did have some of the flaky chiropractor stuff on the walls and on folders and things about how spinal subluxations are causing all of your life's problems, but Dr. McCarthy at least was clearly very grounded in reality. If you need help remembering what it even felt like to not have pain, this is the place to go! read more

I've been going here the past 4 years and I can't imagine going anywhere else. Unfortunately, I'm moving to CA and have to find a new chiropractor. I can't say enough about the staff at this office. Dr. Gazda is a wonderful doctor and treats her patients with so much respect and kindness. Best of all, regular visits here have really helped with my back alignment in ways I couldn't imagine before my first visit. The office is incredibly clean, and Stephanie at the front desk is the most helpful person you can imagine greeting you. I have chronic tibial stress syndrome...for the last ten years, I have had shooting pain and up my left leg from running, sometimes from walking. I have had six stress fractures in two legs, two of them quite serious. For years, I was going to orthopedic doctors. I have been through physical therapy three times. I was told that sometimes a chiropractor can help with these problems, so I went on a whim thinking it couldn't hurt, but not really expenting results. Dr. Shadrick is a miracle worker. He assessed my problem, did the adjustment, and strangely, I stopped feeling leg pain even while I was running regularly. I couldn't believe it! All of that aside, he is very friendly, warm and professional. He is knowledgeable in the practice and makes you feel comfortable. He takes his time with each patient. He didn't promise a miracle in the first visit, but I feel like I got one. If you have pain, go see this man. It's worth it just for the heating pads and massage. Dr. P is quick and efficient but always very professional and easy going. His assistants are always thorough and thankfully call to remind you of appointments because otherwise I'd forget! I've been going for about a year and a half, originally every couple of weeks due to a stiff back/neck and headaches but now i go once a month for just routine maintenance and check-ins. When i went more frequently they were able get my insurance company to cover additional visits when i had exceeded my maximum, so I've always only had to pay my co-pay. By this point he knows what adjustments i need and is able to do them quickly. When i have complained of other issues he is always able to address and help me immediately. I'd recommend DSC for anyone looking for a reliable and helpful chiropractor. read more
