I want to start this review by saying I do not usually write reviews, but this place was so helpful and amazing that I absolutely had to. This place is amazing! Very friendly, helpful, and fast service. My key got caught in the ignition and after calling multiple car service places someone finally recommended Davis Lock and Safe. They spent a considerable amount of time working on my key and ignition, and right when we thought the problem was fixed, the workers discovered that I'd have to go to a mechanic to fix my car, as it was a car problem rather than key problem. Despite spending time and labor working on my key and ignition, Lance was kind enough not to charge me a service fee! He also showed me what was actually wrong so that I'd have an easier time telling the mechanic with what my car needed. While I was waiting for my key to be fixed, I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently multiple people were helped with friendly service by the Davis Lock and Safe team. These workers are legit locksmiths and are not looking to scam you out of any money. I will definitely be back with any lock troubles I might have in the future. read more

We had a problem with our access door to garage. The door would NOT shut if we tried to lock it from the inside as we exited the house. We followed our usual policy of getting 3 over-the-phone estimates. My husband selected Davis Lock & Safe because their estimate was competitive with the others, they could come the same day, and the person with whom he spoke on the phone sounded sharp. Zach was the employee who showed up at our house. When he realized his job in Gresham would delay his anticipated arrival time, rather than to keep us waiting, he phoned to let us know. He not only completed the repair job with our lock satisfactorily but he displayed superb customer service skills. He was the perfect blend of friendliness and professionalism. Had an amazing experience with Davis Lock & Safe today! I previously had one of those 24 hour lock smiths come to my condo to replace my lock on my mailbox (misplaced my key) and they did an absolute hack job.. They drilled into my mailbox and after 30 minutes of me standing in the rain, he still didn't have it open so he literally left saying he would "open it tomorrow" and he never showed or called me. Little did we know, he broke a drill bit in my lock and didn't care to get it out. Then called Davis Lock & Safe today and they showed up in less than 20 minutes and replaced the lock on my mailbox. I've been doing business with Davis Lock and Safe for 30 years off and on. Their professional and personal approach stands out over the entire time. I inherited older locks on a trailer our non-profit bought 3 yrs ago. They re-keyed new locks to match the older ones which saved us over $100. Davis supplied quality products, excellent advice and quick service doing the job in less than an hour. Their service is top notch! When they can't do something, they give alternatives. My husband and I have had 4 different sets of house keys made at various places (e.g.hardware stores; Fred's, etc.) and none of them ever worked on our doors. Davis lock keeps their equipment calibrated and was able to go back to the original Schlage key and cut keys that worked on first effort! Excellent customer service! I was in desperate need of a replacement car key and stopped by the new location in Gresham near Fred Meyers (off of Burnside and Powell.) In spite of the fact that they had just bought out another lock smith shop and David Lock & Safe not due to open for a few more weeks, Lance pulled out his equipment and cut a key on the spot. He came to the car and personally checked that the key worked in both the door and the ignition. He apologized that the shop was in such disarray (not his doing) and for the wait (what wait?) and gave me the key for free. You can bet I'll be back. read more

The initial locksmith I hired was unable to unlock the doorknob from my garage. After a great deal of time, the technician drilled it out and wanted my consent to replace it at additional cost which I declined. When I was ready to replace the doorknob, I did my research and called Davis Lock & Safe. Phillip was extremely experienced, a great communicator, efficient, very tidy, and informational on all things security. Highly recommend these guys! They're kind, professional, amazing at what they do, have fair prices, and they work fast! The end of my key broke off in the ignition to my 2003 Kia Optima, we couldn't get it out at home and none of the big name stores that make keys were able to make me a new one. Finally, I call Davis and they say they're able to get the key out of my ignition and make me a new key, so I brought my car in and was taken care of and out of there in about 30 minutes! Had my Motorcycle towed here after losing my key to have it re-keyed. Within just a few hours of getting it there I already received a called telling me it was finished and they moved the bike to inside their showroom to keep it safe and under cover. Price was great considering I was thinking it would be much more and they were awesome with keeping the bike inside since I was unable to come pick it up for 2 days! I really needed an unexpected re-keying done to a client's brand new home. It was urgent, close to closing time, and left them shorthanded in the store... but without hesitation, one of the guys pretty much followed me the few blocks away to the home, and saved the day! What an awesome place! I was a first time customer today, and I was not disappointed. Brought in the key to the car I just bought so I could get a copy made. I thought it would be a simple copy but it turned out that there is an issue with the ignition so new keys don't work. Lance was enormously helpful making multiple keys until we figured out the problem. I had a broken Lexus RX300 key. Called the dealer and they wanted $150 to special order a replacement shell by VIN with no returns or guarantee or $279 for a new unit. I called these guys since they were super close to my house. They laser cut a new key and installed the electronics from my old FOB in about 10 minutes. This place is the only locksmith I'll visit for the duration of my residence in the Portland-metro area. I spoke to a dozen other locksmiths trying to replace my Volkswagen key before a family vacation, and no one else so much as gave me the information I needed to replace it. I always have my keys cut by them even if it is a bit of a drive! They are super fast, accurate, friendly, and always get it right the first time!! It is a total waste of time and money going to one of the bigger box stores or anywhere else because inevitably they are cut wrong and won't work and then it is another trip to have them recut, not to mention having to beg someone to come cut them in the first place! read more
