Apparently the owner of Davis Lock & Safe feels he does not have to take calls from customers. I recently called and asked to speak to him in order to alert him about an employee's misbehavior, against his company. I also needed work done immediately! Not knowing who I was speaking to I did not want to go into details. The person I spoke to refused to put the call through, stating the owner would not speak to me if I didn't first tell that person what it was about. Customer Service, caring and quality has slipped into the sunset. I ended by saying I would call someone else. I Would like to post 0 stars. read more

I asked Davis Lock to rekey a lock while I waited. The guy quoted me $25 and proceeded to change the lock. He finished qucikly in less than 5 minutes, and proceeded to charge me $25. I took out my credit card and the price was $25.88. I said what is up with that? He told me Squre-D the company they used to process credit cards charges a fee. I proceeded to pull out my debit card and he said they are not setup to take debit. I then proceeded to pull out $25 cash, and he said they are not setup for cash. There was no way to pay the quoted price of $25, so yeah FRAUD. read more

For decades I'd only driven past here, but the other day I finally walked in with a car key emergency and they fixed it without any wait and for a very reasonable price that was less than what I had expected! I called Davis Lock and Safe on New Year's Eve morning because my keys had been stolen. I wanted to have the locks on my house changed a.s.a.p.. Not only were they open, but in 2 1/2 hours, the knowledgable technician was at my house with a fully equipped truck and a very cheerful attitude. He didn't waste any time, explained various options and prices, didn't seem to mind my several changes of mind along the way, and left me with a secured home, feeling safe and much relieved. I think that the costs were about average, but the promptness and attitude were exceptional. I've been to their shop as a drive-in customer, found them skillful, professional and charging what I seemed to be the norm elsewhere. I'm glad that they're in business. Went to get a spare key for my car, it's a 2011 so of course I thought it had an electronic chip that "talks" to the car to start. They gave it a scan, and were just as confused as I was when it didn't have a chip. Needed a fob key made. Cost for one or more fob programed/cut was $125 total for programing and $6 to cut each key. Bought the fobs from Amazon because the Toyota dealer wanted $290 + $70 for each fob programed and cut. Of the three (3) fobs I bought at Amazon, only one was programable. I owed them for one fob key $131. But...If I need more, I'd have to come back with other fobs and be charged the $125 and $6 again. I wasn't happy with this policy. Felt like a rip-off. I don't know why they don't give a break for a paying customer to come back within a certain amount of time to have a couple more done. but ... the don't. They said that it isn't uncommon to have people obtain fob keys that won't program. So wouldn't one think that there should be a break for the customer that has to depend on China making the fob work? Well, this company is like the corporations, get the customer while you can! Went here to see if they could cut a spare key for my 2010 Honda. They told me it would be $185. I asked if they could simply cut a key without the fob. They said yes at $85 each. So, I asked them for 2. $170 dollars later I had 2 keys that only opened only the door. I thought they would start the car as well. I went back in and told them. They said they told me they said it would only open the door. I would like a refund. No deal! They were extremely rude in telling me this. Also, I asked if they could unlock the glove box for me as I didn't have a key. They told me it would be $85 for the mobile service. I pointed to my car 14 feet away and said $85? They said yep. I recently purchased a used car with faulty door locks. When I went into Davis they knew what needed to be done to fix the locks. After taking the time to educate me on why the lock was failing they offered me two options. They would do the entire job or I could do the remove and replace and they will fix the lock for a fraction of the price. I haven't had time to take the lock out but will be taking the lock mechanism to them for repair. Davis is a great full service locksmith. read more

The only locksmith that would answer the phone! Was 125$ which seems pretty standard, gentleman was there within 15 minutes and had me back in my car within the same. Very grateful as I had a horrible time trying to get anyone off google in the area to come help. This review is regarding customer service solely. I recently needed the driver door lock fixed on my vehicle and my mechanic recommended I bring my vehicle by Davis Lock & Safe. I came by around 11am on a Monday morning and was told it might be a few hours because the team was starting to take their lunches. They recommended I return around 1 or 130pm. No problem. I returned at about 2pm and again was told it would be a couple of hours for the fix. At this point I was unsure if I'd be able to find a ride home from the shop and back so I asked if they would perhaps allow me to make an appointment for later in the week to have a scheduled time to come in and have my repair done. No appointments accepted. I was advised I should return in the morning if I didn't want to wait as long. As I was working through this, the tech I was speaking with, Logan, told me that he would be at the shop late in the day past 5pm and I could return after 5 if needed to pick up my vehicle. After calling around to see if I could find a ride home and back around the time I was advised I could return for pickup, I decided to leave my vehicle and have it fixed in the next couple of hours. Fast forward to around 4pm and Logan called and told me my vehicle was ready. At 430pm I called back in and spoke with Ray. I told him I would be there to pickup my car at 515pm. Ray told me that the shop closes at 5pm and no one would be there. I explained that Logan had told me he would be at the shop late and a pickup after 5pm would be no problem. Ray was uninterested in any which way I tried to explain this to him at which point I ended my call with him. A few minutes later I called and again spoke with Ray. I explained I would not have left my vehicle had I not been told I could return after 5pm for pickup, I did not want to leave my vehicle overnight, I would now be put in a position of taking time off work to pickup my car the following day and asked if there was any way they could honor what Logan, their tech, had told me. Ray told me that Logan was just a tech and could not make decisions about staying open late. Ray also said that he could try to get a hold of his manager but could not guarantee he would catch him. I asked if he or I could speak with Logan to understand why he would tell me I could come late if it was not possible. Ray put me on hold for several minutes then returned to the phone and repeated the same sentiment that they would not be open past 5pm. At this point, extremely frustrated and realizing they did not care about honoring what their own employee told me, nor was I even offered an apology for their mistake, I again ended my call with Ray. Pickup the following day went smoothly, employee Bill was kind and helpful and the lock was fixed just fine. I advised my mechanic of this extremely poor experience with customer service and he will no longer be recommending this place for any future customers, nor will I be returning for any services myself. read more

I received poor customer service today. I bought an additional key for my new (to me) car that caused the car alarm to go off when I opened the door. I was told that they don't replace or refund for keys and the manager said that "you ask for a key and we give you a key" and that "I should have known" that the key would trigger the alarm and that this is "common knowledge." Well, it wasn't to me and the salesman never said that when he sold me the key for $200. It's not just the wasted money that hurts. It's the shaming and the dismissive attitude that I received that sticks with me. I have to believe it was because I am female that I was treated this way. All the men in the store were treated respectfully and the guys working there were diligently helping them with their needs. It turns out that the dealer where I bought the car can provide a key that is programmed properly and won't trigger the alarm. Plus, it will be less expensive than Davis. We moved into a new home and had them replace the front door with a smart lock and take the original front door lock and install it on the back door. they also rekeyed the back and garage door so they would all be the same. They were able to come out quickly after we called and overall happy with them. Only issue I had was that the guy damaged the frame of my back door. He didn't mention it until I said something and his response was that they used cheap wood don't think that was an appropriate response. They just sat there in their cars, chatting away. When the third person then parked elsewhere, the manager started barking "You can't park here! You can't park here!" The guy started leaving and the manager took out her phone and began photographing his vehicle. Really, Davis Lock? This is how you treat people? What utter garbage. Excellent customer service! Went yesterday to get some duplicate keys made and to ask questions about my malfunctioning deadbolt. I was given several suggestions of how to trouble shoot. I brought the deadbolt back the next day because it seemed to need replacement. He worked on it 5-10 minutes to make sure he couldn't repair it or get it working. No luck. Then he was able to find the exact part I needed. No charge. And now my deadbolt is fixed and in working order again! All very fast and efficient. Great service and professionalisms! read more

I had an unusual need: I purchased an old Oriental wooden chest that was locked with an old-looking Oriental padlock on it, with no key. I brought the chest to their shop and in a few minutes they cut the padlock off (after telling me the padlock was not of any value). I needed to have a remote for my 2017 Nissan Altima programmed and I started with Davis Lock and Key in Beaverton. They told me they don't program car remotes purchased online and if I wanted them to do it, it would cost about $300.00. I then called 24 Lock and Key and they came to me house free of charge and programmed my keyless remote in 15 minutes for only $99!!!!!!!!!!!. VERY RUDE and PRICE GOUGING I stop by Davis Lock and Safe because I needed a 5" exterior Kwikset entry latch ( not a standard size), a standard size will cost you approx. $5.00. I usually will purchase from local merchants if possible. I get there and I'm told the cost for a 5" latch is $35.00.... I was taken back slightly offended and said that seemed awfully expensive, but mind you I needed the part so I paid their price. As I left and got in my vehicle I looked up the part online and found the part for $8.05, and kwikset said their LIST price was only $17.50, list price is usually always higher than retail. Before I drive away I popped back in their store and told them that their price was extremely high as I just found it for much less. Their response was we don't compete with Amazon prices. To which I said that's fine I just thought you should know. I get to the point of installing the part only to find it is defective, in order to remove it I use a screw driver and slightly pry it back out. call Davis Lock and safe and explain that the latch won't retract and ask if there is something I can do to make it work, they ask if I broke it, I say well obviously it's broken, but I didn't do anything abnormal in installing it. They say bring it back for a replacement. When I get there they will not replace it, become rude ( saying I shouldn't have purchased it in the first place). There was a verbal exchange about how I felt about their business practices and price gouging. I went to my vehicle and proceeded to order the part online with my phone only to have one if the employees yell to get off their property (I was parked on the public street) and threaten to call the police. Service was good; customer service was not. I called yesterday to get a price on having a lock re-keyed and was told it was $65. Had my son take the lock in today and they charged him $85. When he let them know I was quoted $65 he was told, "That's the standard price for that lock". Well, if it's the standard price, why wasn't it quoted correctly. Nothing tricky, the lock cylinder was already out of the vehicle. Then, on top of that, the clip that was dropped off in the bag with the lock was not returned, which caused a return trip once my son realized it. I haven't posted anything negative before, but I'd be a bad neighbor if I didn't pass this along. Buyer beware w/Davis Lock, though I've had several okay experiences with them prior to this. I had my old Lexus key break after 11 years in the ignition. Davis charged $100 and gave me a new one in about 20 minutes. 60 days later a hairline crack in the housing, at 90 days it broke apart. Called in and was told I would have to speak to owner, and one was always there. Two more visits, one was there. Owner offers only 30 day warrantee and won't work with me on it at all. Okay. Jerks, but okay. But here's where real consumer deception comes in. I am then "educated" that even the Lexus and Honda factories use the same housing and that a dealer will charge me $275 for the same. Says they all crack. I mention that my old one lasted 11 years and his own employee mentioned a difference in factory keys, and pointed out that at this rate he's talking about me spending $400 a year with him replacing quarterly. He says it's better than $275 each. And again they all crack. And that his employee was wrong. BTW Kuni Lexus charges $115 and delivers a factory key housed in a case at least 5x stronger within 18-48 hours. You can just hold the case in your hand and feel the weight diff. Bravo. $115. Not $275. Three things bother the hell outta me about how Davis Lock handles this: 1. Deliberately misinforming a customer about differences in casing available ("they're all the same!") and cost of alternatives. Really shady stuff. No whoops about it. Intentional misinformation. 2. The price of $100 using a crappy thin aftermarket alternative ADMITTED by the owner to crack regularly. But the worst one? Without a doubt... 3. Throwing an employee under the bus to support and protect your own dishonesty. Wow. And he was standing there too. Wow again. read more

This was an extremely busy day. The owner arrived as Ray was super efficient and so kind to stamp six sets of keys with initials so I would stop losing them! He corrected Fred Meyer keys because apparently they are not calibrating their key machines very often. I actually have not seen such special customer service in a very long time! I knew I had a tedious project so when 3 customers arrived I gladly did an errand and when I returned the keys were ready to go! Davis was quick and efficient in duplicating a key I had to get for work. This reason is enough to give them 5 stars, but it was their customer service that really blew me away. While in the store an individual came in asking for a key replacement for her cat. They were able to replace the key (as any good locksmith would) but she was livid that they didn't also completely reprogram the electronic keyfob (which is not what she asked them to do). The gentleman behind the counter kept a level head as the customer screamed and yelled at him, and after 5 minutes of yelling she finally stormed off. The employee kept a smile through it all and didn't let the instance phase him.
