They motivate you and the class is so much fun. Bumping music, moves and sweat! It's a mixture of everything and best believe, you leave your class huffing and puffing, feeling great. My 5 yo daughter is in their tiger class twice a week. At first, I was expecting the class to be all physical but to my surprise, they teach amazing life lessons like building confidence, self discipline, hard work, control, and respect. This made me commit. We've also taken this class with multiple instructors and every one of them are so kind and amazing. They are so great with kids and I love them all so much! My girl enjoys this class and it's nice parents can sit in the class to watch. Towards the end, they have you interact with your child in helping them develop their skills which is a nice way to bond. I think of all the places in Davis, this place is probably the best in terms of quality for adults and children. They also offer camps which I've heard great things about.

Mr. Rodness has a teaching style that really connects with kids. He manages to balance discipline and encouragement in a way that keeps students motivated. What we appreciate most is that it is not just a martial arts school. The classes consistently reinforced focus, perseverance, accountability, and respect. Those lessons have carried over into school and every day life for our son. If you're looking for a place that develops confidence and character in addition to excellent martial arts skills, this is a fantastic environment. We're grateful to be part of the program and highly recommend it.

Excellent place to train. The absolute best…read more This school has decades of experience teaching effective, proven self defense for use on the street. From day one, the emphasis is on teaching "Real" movements using a "hands on" approach. Lots of hitting pads and doing things on the teacher to make sure you understand how it works. For the sport fighting (MMA) enthusiast, they teach "Shootfighting", a combination of Muay Thai Kickboxing, Jujitsu, Russian Sambo, and Catch wrestling. Not just 'Stand Up' and 'Ground' in separate classes, the "Shootfighting" integrates the two creating a much more well rounded fighter. The instructors are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. THERE ARE NO "KID" TEACHERS. All of the instructors are adults, and the adults and kids are taught separately in the group classes. If you are looking to train as a family or for training for you son/daughter, you will not find a better place. Instead of focusing on 'point fighting' and playing a 'game'. Kids build up their self esteem and confidence while learning real physical skills that will need if they are attacked. There is nothing worse than if a kid thinks he can defend his or herself only to get beat up (OR WORSE), because what they learned doesn't really work. I do know that there are quite a few CHP officers, Police, SWAT, as well as Correctional Officers from CMF training here as well as some of the other locations (and they are some of the coolest people to train with) If it is good enough for them an their families, it is good enough for mine.

I can go on and on about Evon as a coach, but there is more about this place that I really appreciate!! The Gym is always clean and the mats are always spotless. There is everything you would need to learn self defense. I can not say enough about this place. Come see for yourself!!

If you are a newbie to martial arts, Aikido is a great place to start because you are learning the Art of Peace. He breaks down techniques into concepts, so you understand what you're trying to accomplish instead of just memorizing moves. In addition, he tailors his teaching to fit you -- e.g., your size, your flexibility, your age, etc. -- so you learn BJJ that actually will work for you. Most importantly to me, Michael is a kind and thoughtful person who attracts kind and thoughtful students. It's worth checking this place out just to meet him and the people who train here.

The price is very reasonable compared with other local martial arts schools I have checked into. This is not a "McDojo" - it is pretty no-frills (bring a jacket in the winter - the room parents wait in is not heated), which I like. Full first-timer tour, big smiles, "can't wait to have you back" energy, and the front desk deserves its own standing ovation because wow... above and beyond. I love a studio that refuses to stay in its lane. Yoga, cycle, Pilates, strength, personal training, plus a dangerously cute retail section. I literally came back later just to shop and walked out with a full set (on sale... say less). Even the Tiem cycle shoes were calling my name. Did a triple this morning because apparently I like to test my life choices. Warm mat Pilates (hit around 90°) was solid, but give me darker lighting, more intensity, slower burn... really take me out. Cycle was good, just needed to be louder with more punch. Strength class wrapped it up nicely. Overall, strong lineup--but if I'm doing three back-to-back, I expect to leave as a ghost, and I was still very much alive. Vibes? Good... friendly, welcoming, easy to settle into. Only downside... they ghosted ClassPass, which is a bummer for travelers or commitment-phobes like me. Drop-ins are $30 or 3 for $49, so yeah... your wallet will feel that. And no first class free for locals... bold of them to skip the "try me before you buy me" era.
