They continued to my credit card for 3 more months even though she kept telling them every month not to use it. In early May, my daughter told them that my grandkids decided to stop training. On June 1st, they charged my credit card again even though my grandkids are no longer training. I had to contact my bank to dispute the charges.

(The other person's membership charge was even more than my own.) Once I noticed, I contacted Fabio and let him know. He acted like he would do something about it but did not. So I waited then asked him again. If I remember correctly, he still did not refund my money. After asking repeatedly, I eventually got some of the money back...but it was NOT the full amount and it was only for ONE month. He never paid me back for the rest. I lost over $100. I wanted to be nice and give Fabio time, but in doing so, the window passed for me to file a complaint with my bank. I have never heard from Fabio since. Additionally, this gym needs to pay more attention to who is in their gym during sparring. This gym has an unsafe environment. I was a beginner white belt and I was once paired with a Napoleon complex hothead who was also named Austin (coincidence), and he was a higher belt than me. During sparring he quickly slammed me on my head. This is extremely dangerous and shows a complete lack of sense. He had no respect and showed no remorse. It was 100% intentional. One black belt here would not wash his gi and smelled like urine and feces (this is a known tactic for actual competitions, but I was amazed that someone would do this for simple practice against white belts). This is not a good gym. There is a lack of supervision and safety, and I had money taken that has still never been returned.

From day one, the emphasis is on teaching "Real" movements using a "hands on" approach. Lots of hitting pads and doing things on the teacher to make sure you understand how it works. For the sport fighting (MMA) enthusiast, they teach "Shootfighting", a combination of Muay Thai Kickboxing, Jujitsu, Russian Sambo, and Catch wrestling. Not just 'Stand Up' and 'Ground' in separate classes, the "Shootfighting" integrates the two creating a much more well rounded fighter. The instructors are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. THERE ARE NO "KID" TEACHERS. All of the instructors are adults, and the adults and kids are taught separately in the group classes. If you are looking to train as a family or for training for you son/daughter, you will not find a better place. Instead of focusing on 'point fighting' and playing a 'game'. Kids build up their self esteem and confidence while learning real physical skills that will need if they are attacked. There is nothing worse than if a kid thinks he can defend his or herself only to get beat up (OR WORSE), because what they learned doesn't really work. I do know that there are quite a few CHP officers, Police, SWAT, as well as Correctional Officers from CMF training here as well as some of the other locations (and they are some of the coolest people to train with) If it is good enough for them an their families, it is good enough for mine.

Ended up being redirected by a mechanic downstairs (iconic) to go around the building and up the stairs. No signage, just vibes and a little scavenger hunt. First-timer problem, you'll survive. Once you're in, it's giving classic 26 & 2 (Bikram) energy. Hot, quiet, get-down-to-business. No music, no fluff, no pretending this is a spa day. This is a sweat situation. Small studio, cubbies, changing rooms, quick rinse shower... like a bird bath but make it functional. Owner's been holding it down for 20+ years which is kinda wild and honestly respect. Started a little standoffish, then warmed up and ended up being great with cues. Full circle moment. Only tiny thing -- you will hear the mechanics downstairs living their best loud lives while you're trying to find inner peace. Names being yelled, music, the whole thing. Vitality charges four times (quadruple) what our old dojo charges AND if you want to quit, you can just inform them and be done. They force you to pay for an entire additional month - really awful anti-customer policy. Additionally, the instruction was supervised closely enough and our daughter was injured because another student was overly aggressive. Finally, the place smells terrible, like feet wrapped in dirty diapers. We've moved on to a new dojo and are much happier - and back to paying a quarter of what Vitality charges.
