My room was gorgeous- 1st floor has very tall ceilings which make the room feel spacious. The only minor issue was that they advertise free bikes but only had one which had flat tires . Recommend they invest in at least 4 comfort type commuter bikes that are user friendly and comfortable since Davis has so many nice bike paths . Also recommend upgrading their coffee in the dining room to something more flavorful. Overall I had a wonderful experience and will stay here again when I return to the area

While it's a bit of a distance to the actual venue, it was well worth it for the quiet, calm and very relaxing environment. Beautiful property and I wish I had time to use the pool outside. We stayed in the Bella Vista honeymoon suite. I loved it. It allowed my husband and I to talk. There's a calming and clarifying vibe to the room and the place in general. Spacious, clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again if I was in the area 100%. I think about this place from time to time. I actually miss it!

The server told us they operate out of a food truck. So the menu is limited. But what they make is really good! The actual menu in-person had a couple items that aren't on the sample menu including a couple more dessert options like fig ice cream. We really liked everything we tried! The portions were pretty good. If coming here for food I'd recommend getting here early since food trucks have limited capacity. You're welcome to stroll around the property both the flower farm and the inn side before or after your meal. The parking situation is a gravel lot. So it may not be the most handicap accessible place. We had a lot of fun stopping by Park Winters. They were setting up for a wedding so the inn side would have been closed for the event starting at 1pm. The check also came with a small map of the property for you to keep. This was very helpful in exploring the property. The only caveat is this is the countryside. Wear long pants or be prepared with insect repellent! Even at 10am in the summer my legs were bitten by mosquitoes. (Type O blood. Mosquito magnet here.) I'd like if they burned some citronella candles to help with mosquitoes. The rest of the dining venue was so thoughtfully designed including timed misters (like at theme parks) to help keep the area cool. Definitely check it out if you're curious or in the area.

I saw an elk roaming on the property, lots of quail and other birds (they have a pictorial guide of birds hanging by the front door right as you walk in). The yurt is on a gravel road. You pass the neighbor's sheep and horses as you drive in. Point Reyes Station is literally right around the corner - a 2-3 minute drive - with lots of food, great markets and shopping. Inverness is a 5-minute drive (if that). The yurt is very conveniently located. I passed Jan and Tony and Stella, their dog, on the way out one night - very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I will be thrilled when the opportunity comes to visit again!!

What made the situation even worse was the amount of time we had to spend going back and forth during an already stressful family emergency. The front desk staff repeatedly told us they understood and agreed a refund was appropriate, but the owner instructed them not to issue one. For several days, staff members seemed confused about the situation, while the owner/manager refused to respond to phone calls or text messages. We were left waiting, following up repeatedly, and receiving no direct communication from the person making the decision. I understand businesses have cancellation policies, but there should also be room for compassion and reasonable discretion, especially for LOYAL, repeat guests who have spent thousands of dollars over the years and have personally referred many others to stay here. Unfortunately, this experience erased years of goodwill. Customer service is tested when something unexpected happens, and this hotel failed that test. We will NEVER stay here again, and after this experience, I can no longer recommend it to friends, family, or clients. What a HUGE disappointment Cottage Grove. I recently stayed three nights at Cottage Grove Inn in Calistoga, paying about $1,997 total. The…read moreproperty is charming at first glance--beautiful garden setting, cottage-style rooms on a tree-lined street, and very friendly, warm service. The grounds are well kept and the inn is clean, with clear potential to be a truly special place. However, at nearly $700 per night on a weekend, the experience fell well short of expectations. The property feels underinvested. The furnishings are dated and worn rather than intentionally antique, and the bathroom is significantly outdated. Towels were also visibly old and frayed. The biggest issue was the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable--more like old, degraded foam than a supportive mattress--and made sleep difficult, with noticeable motion transfer even with a partner. We pulled back the bedding and found an old foam topper over a worn, stained mattress. Using a photo of the manufacturer's label, we determined the mattress was manufactured in September 1996 and likely purchased at Square Deal Mattress Factory in Chico, CA. If accurate, that would make the mattress over 30 years old, which is far beyond any reasonable replacement cycle for a hospitality property at this price point. Breakfast was also disappointing--limited, mostly store-bought items such as stale croissants, basic English muffins, and very weak coffee with minimal quality or attention to detail. In summary, Cottage Grove Inn has a beautiful setting, clean rooms, and excellent staff, but the lack of investment in core comfort elements--especially beds, bathrooms, and furnishings--makes the value difficult to justify. I would not return at the current price level without significant updates.
