I'm honestly not someone who usually writes reviews, but my experience with Marisa has been so…read moreimpactful that I felt like I had to share. I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. If I do wake up, I can fall back asleep easily, and I'm even dreaming a lot which I take as a sign I'm finally getting deep, restful sleep. I've seen such drastic improvements that I genuinely feel like I have a new baseline. I feel so much more in control of my anxiety now and honestly like a completely different person than I was just a few months ago. It's been truly life changing. I honestly wish I could see her weekly. The closest way I can describe how you feel leaving a session is like you just had a massage; you're so relaxed, grounded, and at ease. Marisa has truly touched my life. She is genuinely an angel. She listens, she cares deeply, and she is incredibly dedicated to her clients. If she doesn't have an answer right away, she always follows up, whether by email or the next time you see her, which says so much about the level of thought and attention she gives. I don't feel comfortable around many people, but there's something about her energy that is so light and reassuring. She creates such a safe, welcoming environment, and it makes all the difference. I'm so grateful to have found her and truly can't recommend her enough.

I have had a really positive experience with Newton-Wellesley Interventional Spine. First and…read moreforemost, of course, the procedures I had done there were very effective. I am pretty sure I will not need surgery and that's a huge relief! When I walked in there several weeks ago, I was limping, barely able to walk, and had to be driven there. I was in such bad shape that I would wake up crying in pain. From there, I am now mostly pain-free and I've regained the mobility I had lost in my left leg. Also, the front desk staff, nurses and medical assistants (not sure of all the proper titles) are all really nice people. I particularly enjoyed the upbeat attitude of the red-headed lady who did my intake - wish I had remembered her name. It is very easy to get an appointment, and you don't sit around waiting for a long time. The waiting room is small but has nice magazines and a TV, and the facility has parking, which is important! I found it convenient to drive to and locate the facility, which is right in a cute part of Wellesley near the Quebrada bakery. The doctor is an empathetic person who took time with me to understand my problems, gave me the appropriate treatment that has helped me go back to "living life", and answered all of my questions. I just feel very lucky to have been recommended to this place and now I'm recommending it to you! (if you need such things, but then you wouldn't be looking at this review if you didn't think you might need some medical intervention.)

As an woman I appreciate this. I went in with lower pain as well as neck pain. Today he did a steroid injection in my lower spine. He explained everything he was doing as well as what to expect as the procedure was being done. His staff is also wonderful. I was in and out of the office in under an hour. Conviently located in Wellesley. I will recommend him highly to family and friends.

Some are borderline rude, some just don't care. Like, I've never seen follow up appointment that wasn't free. Not here. Do not expect them to volunteer that info though. I was like, ok, if I spent this long in some medical school, I'd want $180 for 5 minutes of my time too. OK. But getting records- good luck! For the services I paid for! They will be tossing you around until you get angry and take time off your work, the one that pays your bills, and march there and get it yourself. Meanwhile, with money this office charges for services, they don't even have electronic forms set up for patients' convenience! So, get lots of time, money, and patience, if you decide to come here.

I went to see Dr Xiaolong Shawn Liu, M.D. for a second opinion, and to get insight into restarting exercise and using Traditional Chinese Medicine. The initial urologist I had seen told me to stop all exercise, but when I asked about how/when to restart exercises said that was out of their scope of practice. Meanwhile the chronic pain and discomfort were affecting my sleep, mood and daily life. The scientific literature says that the prognosis in chronic patients is unclear and that the average patient chronic epididymitis sees 4.5 different urologists while seeking a cure. Dr Liu reviewed my case file, ultrasound report, did a manual exam, and answered my questions. He was honest that two months of chronic inflammation was not at all unusual. Gave me advice about restarting physical activity (pace yourself, start very slowly and not at same intensity that you were before being sick, continue to wear compression shorts). In the meantime I had set up an appointment with a Chinese acupuncturist, (Wendy Li @ Acupuncture Herbs and Beyond) and after single visit had an impressive relief of pain for the first time in three months after getting acupuncture and taking the Chinese herbs prescribed for me. A concern when doing alternative medicine is that you could be ignoring real pathology. Dr.Liu explained that while it could not be explained by western medicine, TCM was successful for some people, the Chinese are very pragmatic people, have been doing TCM for thousands of years, and if it didn't work they would be doing something else. He said that there was no serious pathology that would preclude me from continuing with TCM treatment, and that if this didn't resolve in a years time, to come back to discuss potential surgery such as nerve blocks. So Dr. Liu knows his stuff and I was able to get an appointment within two weeks. (As for my case I continued with weekly visits for TCM for the next month and the pain and swelling subsided nicely over next three weeks.)
