This business, which is not the one I was directly interested in, replied to my quote immediately via email. The response repeated some of the information I gave in the quote request, assured me they would be the right people for the job, and asked me to call the number listed on the page here. Despite the one-star rating, I decided to give it a chance and see what happened. When I gave them a call, a man answered the phone and gave the company name he worked for, which was not Shadyside Lawn Services. I didn't quite catch the name, and should have asked the man on the other end to repeat it if I'd had any presence of mind, but instead I asked him if they were the same business as Shadyside Lawn Services, already in doubt. He told me that he could get me in contact with "a lawn service" if that's what I needed, but that the business he worked at was not a lawn service in and of itself. It was difficult to bring the conversation to an end and hang up after trying to explain that I must have gotten a wrong number or made a mistake, but he wasn't impolite or rude, just persistent.

My parents hired him to do tree trimming around their yard in Forest Hills. He said if they paid him up front he would do it the next day....needless to say he did not come the next day. Promised another day the next week and now, weeks later he is still a no show and now is not answering their phone calls. To make it worse, my parents are seniors. I found a similar story about him on Angie's List so this is a pattern. Do NOT hire him, he is a scam artist.

We called Charles on 1/15/14 - 2 1/2 months later, the work we paid for (our checks were cashed…read morethat day) still isn't done. Roughly 20% of the work has been done, but the remaining 80% is not. They never cleaned up their work from the first day either. We paid for 2 large branches and cross members to be trimmed. Despite having had many clear days between then and now, the work isn't done. Despite many calls, he doesn't follow through on getting the work done, nor does he return calls when he says he will. We've submitted a case to the Better Business Bureau; hopefully that will help us get the work finished. While I hesitate to say we've been scammed, someone who paid for the work already (our mistake!) should be near the top of your priority list, not placed on the back burner for 2 months. While he may have had a lot of personal issues delaying the work, 2 1/2 months is more than enough time.
