Philly cheesesteak pizza was so good and the service was amazing!! It's definitely a new favorite place!

As someone from Chicago, I take pizza seriously. I grew up on true Chicago thin crust, tavern-cut squares... the way I was meant to eat pizza. It makes my heart happy. You won't find that anywhere in North Carolina, and Davino's isn't trying to be that. What it is? The best pizza in the Lake Norman area. This perfect little hole-in-the-wall has great specials and consistently solid pizza. The crust hits that ideal balance of crisp and chew, the toppings are generous, and the flavor never disappoints. I can (unfortch) house half an 18-inch pizza myself. But what truly sets Davino's apart is their generosity and community spirit. Right at the front counter, they post a simple message: if you're hungry and don't have money, a meal has already been paid for you. Prepaid tickets hang there - some for two slices and a soda, others even for a full build-your-own 18" pizza. It's a beautiful, tangible act of kindness that can make a real difference for families in need. Makes my heart happy. Great pizza. Great people. A place that genuinely cares about its community. Wouldn't mind if they upgraded their fries to the crinkle cut kind they show on their website and not the long John silver kind, but I'll make do with the 'za. The food was quality, if I were a ninja turtle this would be a go to spot if I'm in MOORESVILLE. Not typically a thin crust guy but this crust gave you the best of both worlds, slim thick . I had it door dashed and Hernan got it here quicker than jimmy johns. TLDR: It's okay. For all the people saying the service is great(!) I agree whole heartedly! Pizza is alright. Tends to be bland, kinda limp and on the smaller side compared to local competitors. Better choices in the area for sure. Lower rating is because of the meatball sub. Meatballs are just a little bigger than Swedish meatballs and the sub had a total of 4. Meatballs were also surprisingly bland. LOTS of bread, cheese and marinara so that's nice but, yeah, very disappointed. Marinara and bread are really good though. Came with fries and was charged extra for ranch. I don't know if that really bothers me to much but what do I dip my overcooked fries in? Don't want this to sound like a one and done review. We come here about once a year for convenience and to remind ourselves that we should probably just drive a bit further down the road. read more

The pizza is a 5 out of 5! It's fresh, made with homemade sauce, cooked in a brick oven, and the dough is on the money. If you just want great pizza, this is the place! I only gave it a four because the place needs some serious renovations. The handle to the door to get in is broken, there are cracks in the table, and just a lot of makeshift stuff going on. This might turn some people away--it kept me away for a long time--but I recommend getting the pizza anyway. The other potential problem... The pizza takes a really long time. This is actually good because you're getting high quality, but if you're on a tight schedule, it's not a great idea. As far as the staff, they're friendly. Owner disappeared for a long time to talk to a salesman one time but he seems friendly enough. And other staff on my second visit were really cool. Overall, recommended. Just know what to expect when you walk in, and don't make the mistake of thinking the condition of the establishment will relate to the quality of the pizza. Was passing through Mooresville looking for some takeout and stumbled over Davino's....Right off I77 Had a Philly Cheesesteak and Eggplant Parm pasta dish. Portions were huge! Facebook gave me a heads up that this place had some really good pizza, and you know...they were right! The pizza was freshly made and the owners were so kind. I also ordered a side salad and it was enormous! They make their own Ranch dressing, which was really creamy and delish. The owner kept coming by my table to check on me and make sure I had everything I needed. Also, the mushrooms were fresh and not canned, bonus points! Be aware, this place is very small inside with limited seating. Lots of people came in and out while I was there so they do a good take out business. I enjoyed my pizza. read more

The food is amazing !!!! Wings super delicious and well seasoned the knot bread is good too. Pizza is good . The only thing that sucks is the lady at the counter asked me for a tip for picking up my own pizza I was so confused on what she meant and she said umm he didn't give a tip! I'm like okay..??? I'm picking up tho and she then read the amount that I paid and no tip! She said I was like umm okay grabbed my food and left never ever going back there again! Owner is nice and she's not there when he's there. But I would rethink my employees they are giving your restaurant a bad name . Let me start by saying, anyone working in the service industry during a pandemic should get hazard pay because they are putting themselves in harms way for us to enjoy delicious food! If you're reading this be kind to employee's and tip! My family is from NY and I'm still here, but my grandparents are in NC now, close to Davino's and I wanted to surprise them with a meal that I know they'd enjoy since it's hard to find good Pizza. I placed an order online and asked for contactless delivery since they're elderly. Davino's delivered!! Not only was the order under their estimated delivery time, they provided delivery contactless and even left a sweet note for my grandparents and text me a picture to let me know when the food was there so I could let me know. Customer service goes a long way, and this was above and beyond. It's nice to know, even during chaos, establishments who value customer service as well as food are still around! I can assure you, next time I'm in town I'll be stopping by, and until then you can count on more delivery! read more

Overall not bad - but not great either. If you are looking for a good Buffalo Chicken Pizza, this is NOT the place to go. Even though the owner is from Buffalo. The pizza had very little buffalo flavor at all. More like a cheese pizza with chicken and a little bit of Buffalo sauce. The Meatball pizza with extra cheese was very good. The wings were OK - not much meat to them. I found it odd that the person working there told me they would give the wings to me naked, with sauce on the side. When I asked why, she said they don't have the man power to mix them in the sauce at this time of night. I told her to cancel them, and the other person working said to do it. It's typical NY or Brooklyn style pizza but they do a great job with it. Walked in initially looking for a Sub but saw their luncheon special with two slice on one topping pizza along with a drink all for only $5. Decided to give it a try. Probably should have ordered something a little more challenging to the taste buds but in the end, the pepperoni pizza was excellent. Good Brooklyn Style with plenty of gooey cheese. Pepperoni was a little of the scant side but good nevertheless. Great value at $5 and the size of the slices was incredible. Will be back because they have a host of other products I want to try including the Subs and Calzones. and some of the Pasta Dishes. We just ordered a pizza tonight and my husband asked if we could have 3 paper plates. The unfriendly gal behind the counter said they didn't have any. You'll have to receive some Davin intervention if you want a slice here, because they never seem to serve me one. Didn't find any Queens here - false advertising. Other than myself. I had good memories of this place, and was hoping to refresh them and discover that I really loved this pizza even more than I thought. Unfortunately all I found was a place that was unreasonably not willing to give me slices. Even though I saw that there were slices hanging around. My group and I was so hungry that I went ahead and ignored the scene and left with my the order. We are visiting the area and didn't want to cook so we ordered delivery from Davino's. If we were here more often, it would definitely be our go to spot. I think we ordered a little bit of everything. The ordering is REALLY hard because they don't really have a menu online. Until they take orders the online ordering doesn't show what's available and then there are no descriptions of what's on them. Any idea what comes on a "white pizza"? "Meet pizza"? You get my point. So, we just ordered. The meat pizza had pepperoni, sausage, ham, maybe hamburger. White pizza - you'll have to post that one, we passed. We also had a Hawaiian (pineapple & ham). The pepperoni only came in small which was also wonky, no larger sizes? Regardless, all the pizzas were made and tasted superb. Had a house salad that was fresh. My mom and I were brought into town by a vacation and we decided to stop here and rest for the night. As I was looking for a place to eat dinner I found Davino's and I am so glad I did. I placed an online pickup order for two lunch spaghetti's that came with garlic knots and a drink and two mini cannolis. Our order was supposed to be done within less than an hour range and when we stopped in we waited about ten minutes. We got our food and got to the hotel before the first given time to be picked up. When we picked up the food it was super hot and smelled super good! We opened our bag to find everything we ordered. The food was amazing to say, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. The garlic knots were well done and not doughy. The cannolis were crunchy but they weren't hard to bite into like other ones I have had before. The cannoli was not hollow it was filled perfectly with cream and just enough chocolate chips. I can see these are my favorite cannolis I've tried. I ate both myself lol! The establishment was clean and the atmosphere was nice. The staff was super friendly! I would definitely come back here if we were ever in town. If you haven't tried Davino's I recommend you do, it is amazing! They have so much to choose from and just great prices. We are from NJ so we have a different standard in pizza. This is NOT NY style pizza. It's edible but by no means is this even similar to anything in the north. Ordered food from Davino's through door dash and it wasn't very good. Ordered wings, which were barely tossed in the sauce and they give you one small blue cheese for them. The fries were old tasting and not very good. The meatball pasta also was not very good. The sauce tastes like it was from a jar or a can. I work down the street and have started a little project of sampling the local spots around town for lunch. Monday was Sub day, so today meant pizza! Their menu is loaded with the usual Italian favorites, but for lunch I opted for the two slice & drink special. Two decent sizes slices and you get to throw on 1 topping at no extra cost. If you're looking for value, this gets it done. Nowadays with lunch choices creeping towards $10 out the door, their special was $6 plus throwing a tip on is still a great deal. Pizza was very good, sauce, cheese, and what seemed like fresh jalapenos on top were very good. It looked like they splashed some oregano on for some nice added flavor.
