There's a windy little hiking trail but to get a half hour walk in you have to take it a couple of times and do a lap around the park. There's a nice playground which is of no use to me and although there's no dedicated parking lot, there's parking on the street right in front. Neighborhood seems friendly and everyone seems to be good about picking up after their dogs.

It may be small, but it has just about everything we need to keep us coming back. My 18 month old daughter loves this park, and so do the older kids I've seen there. The little kids side (2-5) features a "rock wall" with built in large steps, a periscope, and a slide. The big kids side has multiple slides, a huge climbing rock, gravity based spinners, balance beams, and more. All of which is on a rubber playing surface. It's just the right amount of play to keep kids occupied for an hour or so. This isn't an all day park, and it doesn't need to be. There are six benches in this park, besides the two picnic tables within the shelter, so parents, you are all set to sit back and relax! My one complaint with the park is that there is no drinking fountain or bathroom.

All of the dogs we have owned love going for a walk though the woods, up the trails, down the long staircases then passed the club house and pond to the river. There is also a wading pool for young kids to cool off on a hot summer day!!! We currently have a mother deer with her fawn living in the woods. I'm not able to send enough kudos to our county's parks' department personnel for the amazing job they did with clean up and restoration after all the flooding that happened in that area. While the lower level of the pavilion was still not usable, the upper area, where the party took place was great. The concern was a possible odor from the flooding damage in the lower level and how it would challenge the upper. Turned out to be just fine. Wonderful venue for a family and friends' party.

I was so happy to see that they also have very options for kids of all different spaces, sizes and needs including a specialized swing for those in wheelchairs. My twin toddlers absolutely loved the play place. They explored both sides even though one side is for a little bit younger and one side is for a little bit olderis older. They really like the slides and the more advanced side. But, they've never seen the old school spring riders before and the kiddie side had two! They got a kick out of that and it made me feel nostalgic. We will definitely return to this playground again and again and again. The kids loved it and other than ONE entryway, the entire playground is enclosed which also helps to give piece of mind while you're watching your littles.

After carting out to some trails in Muskego that I found were closed, I decided to walk Whitnall park since I haven't before. I found this big parking lot right next to this great playground. The baby isn't quite old enough yet for the playground, but we will be back as soon as she is. Anyways, we took a walk around and found out this was pretty close to Boerner Botanical Gardens. The area is all lush rolling hills, woods, wildlife, ponds, streams and waterfalls. It's seriously beautiful and definitely worth walking through. My only complaint is that I read on the Internet that this park had a paved trail, and it did. The paved trail, however, was actually a road. Most folks were very careful and took it slow driving, but there was a few dingleberries who decided to whip through like it was a highway, so for that, I knocked off a star.

It connects to the Beerline Trail. This trail is absolutely gorgeous. It runs along the Milwaukee River, so there is a lot of photo ops. Oh! It's really lovely. When I visit with my nephews and niece, we imagine Druids feeling at home. Of course, in pleasant weather we have actually seen folks LARPing in medieval gear as if to prove us right. The splash pad is silent in fall and winter, but the playground remains active on sunny days. Off street parking is ample and soccer games are fun to watch, even if you don't have skin in the game for either side. Maybe Gordon Park isn't a big one or a famous one in the County's excellent park system, but it is so accessible -- you can just tumble out into Riverwest and Harambee neighborhoods from there.

The park is essentially just the playground, a small metal shelter with three picnic tables, three medium sized trees and a soccer net with maybe 15 feet of clearance in front of it. The playground is separated into two areas, with the little kids side and the big kids side. Note, although the big kids side is very tall with steep slides, the slides have very tall walls that ease your mind with safety. There are two little kid swings, and two big kid swings, along with a new version of a merry-go-round (which my two year old absolutely loves). The build quality for this park is incredible. This is the now the second little tikes branded playground I've seen, and I definitely hope to see more. Although the playground is primarily designed for kids 5+, there was still plenty of things for my two year old to play on with close supervision. This isn't an all day park, and it doesn't need to be. We'll be back when we're in the area. If you're headed to Walmart with the kiddos, definitely stop here first to wear them out. It's just a block away! My primary complaint? No bathrooms or drinking fountain.

Firefly Grove Park just gets better and better…read more First, came a beautiful space with a biofiltration basin and constructed wetlands area that naturally filters storm water runoff. Then came the natural playground. And, then came Mama Rosa, a beautifully made, whimsical troll/art installation created by the well known artist, Thomas Danbo. She's darling and charms me every time I'm there. The park lamposts were all reclaimed and repurposed from other local city projects. Oh, and they have solar panels at the park as well. And, finally, the most recent addition is the Sacred Rhythm Mother sculpture. It's formed by branches bent and shaped to look like a face emerging from the earth. It's stunning. This is the sort of park where I immediately feel at peace and inspired. The benches are little works of art as well. It's a magical little space that charms completely. Get to it!

Stopped here to waste some time while Momma was at the mall. The park is your standard neighborhood park, but with some touches. The park loses a star as the playground has a mulch surface instead of rubber (mulch is sadly used at almost every Brookfield park). Both the little kid and big kid playgrounds have one slide, but they each have fun noise makers attached that I've never seen at any other park before. The playground includes four swings (two baby swings, and two big kid swings). There is a paved walking loop that starts by the playground, wraps around the baseball diamond, and past the basketball courts winding back to the playground. Note: Dogs are allowed on the loop! The park shelter is small but includes a handicap accessible table, and one surprisingly awesome feature, a storage bin that the neighborhood put together with sporting goods and toys for kids to play with while they are at the park. Chalk, frisbees, soccer ball, baseball bats, and more. Way cool!!! Surrounding the entire park is a lot of landscaping and trees, yet they are all fairly young and are not shade producing yet. One other note, there are no bathrooms or drinking fountain at the park. Parking is limited to a few spaces in a parking lot, and no street/grass parking is allowed. While this is not a park your kid will spend hours at, it is a perfect place to get out all of those wiggles from a morning of running errands.
