I scheduled an evaluation on Monday, December 6th, 2021 for Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 at 4:00 pm. I did this through their website on their automated calendar system. The slot for 4:00 pm was available. I received two automated emails that my appointment was confirmed. My husband and I took off of work. On December 8th, 2021 we arrived with our doggy. The worker came out and explained that our session was canceled by Emily because she had a dinner party to go to. The worker explained only Emily could do the evaluation, and we would have to come back another day. She stated Emily would reach out to me on how to move forward. On December 9th, 2021 Emily did reach out to us and this is when I began to become suspicious. Instead of Emily looking to reschedule with us, she sent us a thank you email for attending the evaluation. All of you can obviously guess the scam here. She wants to secure her $100 by claiming she delivered a service she never did. This email was not automated and from Emily as we would begin a long thread of arguments. The end game for us was to return our $100 since she was borderline committing a theft by deception. Emily claimed she was at an organizational dinner-party that happens once a year. Emily believed since she had called once that morning to cancel that was satisfactory and the fact I missed the call was my problem. It was less than 8 hours notice. Emily also claimed since I was complaining about not receiving the service she didn't want to work with my kind. It's pretty obvious Emily intended on stealing our $100. If she is the CEO and founder, she knew her holiday dinner-party was already scheduled and that she wouldn't be available for our appointment. She made no attempts to genuinely reach me after two days of the service being scheduled. And after just one email she stated she wouldn't evaluate my dog. Also, she explained when I stated I would seek a chargeback, that she has plenty of experiences with these situations and that it would be very hard to get my money back and "good luck." Continuing with the deceiving trend, her website states she is BBB certified but if you check this website she clearly is not. Emily is a liar all in all and doggy owners: BEWARE!!!!! Do not bring your dog there. Now that I'm doing more research it's a horror. Many reviews claim their dogs were traumatized or became sick while being in her custody. I know the claim there is three sides to a story. I have attached screenshots of the conversation so you all can be the judge.

Our boy is a bit mischievous and likes to wander away from the group too much, so Wali offered to board him for a couple of weekends to work on training, and we definitely see improvement. Of course, we could've just hired a dog walker to walk our boy a couple of times a day while we're at work, but it's 100% worth the money for us to know that he's out enjoying nature and socializing with other dogs during the day, instead of just being bored on the couch between walks. And we love seeing the photos they post on Instagram! Would highly recommend Trail Tails to anyone with a pooch.

Trail Tails is AMAZING. Our dog went to their "camp" regularly since he was a puppy (started ~5mo…read moreold). We recently moved and the worst part of moving was that we are longer be in the Trail Tails service area (it honestly weighed heavily in our decision, if that gives you an idea of how much we loved Trail Tails). Wali and his team are fantastic with dogs - they not only try to enforce good behavior (like recall and "playing nicely" with other dogs), but I can tell that they also show a lot of affection to these dogs and make sure "the pack" has an awesome time day in and day out, regardless of the weather. I also had my dog stay with Wali and his team over a few weekends and he seemed to have a great time. I also loved that they posted pics on Instagram regularly - it was so fun to see the dogs in action! (Including a pic of my dog at Trail Tails!) The only downside: there are some days when my dog got a bit dirty. But a quick sweep/vacuum was totally worth it - my dog had a blast and was always tired/happy at the end of the day when I got home. HIGHLY recommend Trail Tails!

Update one year later: I'd change my 5 to 6 stars if I could…read more My dog progressed as much as possible thanks to Instinct. He ultimately had a degenerative brain disease which explained his behavior and matched what the trainers had been seeing. Instinct not only has experience with difficult cases but they specialize in them. I learned more than I thought possible through them. They saw the best in my boy and have helped me heal. Yes, this is pricy, relatively speaking- yes, results may not be instant; yes, the trainers will be honest with you about your dog and the dynamics in your life that may be impacting things. The idea is to coach the owner while training the dog so that the frequency and intensity of training decreases over time, thus the price not only goes down over time but pays itself back on feelings of confidence, safety, and in having a team to back you up for life. I would hope that pet insurance is something that owners have looked into. Trupanion in particular has an excellent behavioral package. Unfortunately adopting a dog is not as simple as "with a good home and love, any dog can become a wonderful pet." Genetics and upbringing have to with it. Places like Instinct understand this and are essential and unique. They don't shame their owners or judge the dogs, it is what it is, and what a relief to have an outside pair of eyes help out, because as everyone reading this knows, by the time you look for a place like this you're feeling emotionally spent, scared, and hopeless already. We traveled hours to get there and don't regret a second of it.

Our main goals were to address poor manners when people came over (jumping/barking), poor leash manners (pulling/leading the walk/leash aggression for one of them), and all around general behavior training. We wanted, and needed, help to rectify these things before our son became truly mobile. We emailed Pat on a Friday night and he called the next day. We spoke for over an hour and he reassured us that things would be okay. We scheduled a training session for later that week and haven't looked back. He is an incredible teacher; he took the time to learn about our dogs, our family dynamic, and what our hopes were for the training sessions. He began teaching us right away and showed us how to get into the minds of our dogs. We are five sessions in and there has been such a vast improvement already. We are currently working on walking both dogs and pushing the stroller - a dream of mine - that is soon to be a reality. We genuinely look forward to each session and getting to hang with Pat. Our pack was definitely out of whack but Pat has been instrumental in teaching us how to teach our dogs and reframe our thinking. If you are looking for a no BS, honest, caring trainer/behaviorist, and you are willing to trust someone, and put in the time and work, look no further - he is definitely your guy. I mentioned to the young lady at the desk that I have two small dogs that would not fair well being put in the room with the general public. I was then informed that there were private rooms. I said that might be an option and asked if I could see one. "Oh no, we don't let the public in there are pictures online." I asked her if she was serious and thought that I would just drop my dogs in a place site unseen and leave them. She responded with an attitude that people do it all the time. I asked her " assuming she had a pet" as a pet owner, would you just leave your dog in a place that you have only seen pictures of? Are you kidding? I can't understand how any responsible pet owner would drop their dog off in a place that they were not able to see with their own eyes. What a disappointing first encounter with River Pet Resort. In my mind, If you are a well run, properly staffed, legit and clean business you should want nothing more than to encourage potential clients to see your facility and show them around. Seems shady to me. Anyone who accepts the pictures on line as confirmation that they are leaving their pet in clean and safe environment should probably not be a pet owner.
