I believe a husband and wife named Bin and Michelle run this salon and they are very professional and friendly. I waited a long time to have my hair washed and blow out, but most definitely worth the wait. Definitely not like the other places on Avenue U where you are just a number on an assembly line. Bin and Michelle take their time with each customer to ensure everyone's hair comes out to perfection and just the way they like it. They are both perfectionists and very methodical in how they work. I was very impressed and super pleased with my hair wash by Bin and blowout by Michelle. My experience and results were just as good, if not better than the other salons on Avenue U. Heck even better than the overpriced wannabe Manhattan salons. There's a nice homey vibe and the owners genuinely seem to care about people. Very rare these days. Support this local business. You'll be glad you did. Very pleased and highly recommend!

They do not listen to what you want. -They are very rough and will yank your hair out while combing. -When I ask for side bangs, somehow they misinterpret it as 1 inch forehead bangs. -I ask for very little layers and trim, they cut 3 inches off my hair. -Barely does any work. Does the bare minimum. I would definitely have stopped them during but as it turns out, I wasnt wearing my glasses during the cut. I didn't think I would need to supervise my haircut.

The place is small and has a handful of stations for the various stylists but its not often a place you wait too long at when you are there. The owner Enesa is also one of the stylists and very friendly along with knowing how to give a good haircut. These days my needs are simple based on the fact that it doesn't grow like it used to. That being said I even come in there to get the summer head shaving and keep it clean up above the whole season. The price is reasonable and will run about $25 and isn't bad since I have seen that barbers are charging about $20 these days as well. I do wish that she had someone on staff that could give a good shave as I've always wanted one of those and why not keep the business in her place as opposed to going elsewhere. There is always music on but no television to speak of to bide the wait time. All in all no real complaints and I have been coming here for a number of years.

They speak Cantonese and Chinese here and I think there is one guy who speaks English that takes all the English speaking clients. I can't speak for everyone else that came here but I came for just a haircut and was pleasantly surprised by how well it came out! I don't do blowouts or anything fancy, just a cut. Mind you that I was VERY specific with my hairdresser about what I wanted and man he delivered! And it was so affordable! I usually go to fancy af salons that charge me $60, and guess how much this place charged me. $22!!! I basically gave them $10 tip because it's such a tiny place and I want to support them. So I'm giving this place five stars because of the extreme affordability and also because of how attentive my hairdresser was! TL;DR: Five stars for affordability and attentiveness. Highly recommend for simple cuts for clients that speak Mandarin/Cantonese.

I've been coming to Lejla's over the years simply due to the convenience of proximity and I've been…read morereceiving mediocre (at best) haircuts. I've finally had it with Lejla, after going and not only being treated disrespectfully but having received the worst haircut of my life. I went in expecting the ususal two barbers, one elder russian man and woman, but this time, they seem to have hired a new staffer, a young russian guy, perhaps a relative. He is a dead ringer for the douche-bags you knew in High school who had no potential, so I assume he needed the job hookup more than they needed an extra pair of hands. Anyways, I brought a picture to show exactly what I wanted, unfortunately, my young "barber" must have paid it a perfunctory glance because he didn't give me anything like what I asked for; in fact, when I returned home, a family member noticed he'd missed a spot, making me realize I'd walked home with a half-rattail. On top of simply butchering my hair, he was overly chatty, about a slew of non-sequitir topics, all of which were really awkward, making me wish he'd shut up and focus on the cut. No luck. The worst came halfway through the cut (which shouldn't have taken more than 20 mins tops regardless): his cell started ringing--and he answered it! Not only that but he distractedly cut my hair and then "asked" me to wait while he -- RAN out of the shop (my head still half chopped) pulling a wad of cash out of his back pocket to pay some guy off (or so I overheard from his cell phone conversation). I waited 10 MINS for him to come back, sloppily finish the cut and have the gall to ask for my payment. I regret stepping foot in the place, much less tipping the guy. NEVER go to Lejla's Salon, no matter how cheap they are. You really get what your $10 pays for.
