if you are looking for an ophthalmologist I would highly recommend Dr Jenny Chou…read more Our optometrist referred us to Dr. Jenny Chou as my husband's eye issue were not getting better after a few weeks. We were called the next day by the doctor herself and were provided an appointment promptly. We were expecting to have to wait a few weeks like most referrals, thank goodness it was not as my husband was looking for some relief soon. When arriving at the office, the door was locked so we called to advise we were there for our appointment. Dr. Chou greeted us at the door, asked us a few health questions, took our temperature and we walked into the office. The waiting room is bright and clean. It has two comfy chairs to sit in and soft music playing to keep you relaxed. We all know how nervous it can be going to a doctors office. During our initial visit Dr. Chou completed several tests on my husband's eyes and gave him some solutions to try and a prescription medication. She explained in detail and clearly so we knew what was going on as she was doing her tests. She provided us with samples and a coupon for our prescription as it was not covered by my plan. Overall, We were very happy with our visits to her office so far we have been to her twice, the main appointment and a follow up appt. My husband is doing much better. Thank you Dr Chou. #supportsmallbusiness

My doctor's office referred me to this office, and when I called to schedule an appointment, it…read moretook several attempts and multiple messages before I received a response. When I was finally able to schedule, I was told that I could not be seen until October because my concerns were not considered urgent, despite having an urgent referral. I understand that many medical offices have their own triage systems to determine which patients need to be seen sooner. However, being told by the staff that my concerns were not urgent felt insensitive, especially as I have been struggling with these issues since May. The office also does not maintain a cancellation list, which made it even more difficult to be seen sooner. I ultimately had my referral rerouted to Sacramento Eye Consultants and was able to get an appointment the same week. I think a cancellation list or another option to be seen sooner would be helpful. Patients shouldn't feel like their only options are to wait months to be seen or seek care elsewhere or through an emergency room. Providing more flexibility and support during the scheduling process would create a much more compassionate and patient-centered experience.

During the per-op appointment Dr. Skelton set realistic expectations and listened and answered everyone of our very many questions. He put my mother at ease. After listening to my mom he suggested a Mono Focal lens, due to the fact that she was comfortable with the possibility of still needing glasses after surgery. Dr. Skelton's vision goal was for her the past the driving test. First surgery was on August 3, 2020. He decided to fix the dominate eye first to improve my moms quality of life sooner. Dr. Skelton did a very good job of explaining the reasoning behind this decision. Since we thought the less dominate eye would be done first. We couldn't of been happier with the surgery! Her vision was restored instantly. In her case by day two she could see clearly with no blurred vision, but everyone is different. We had two more follow up visits with Dr. Skelton. And then her second surgery was performed on September 1st, 2020. Her second eye is a lazy eye so there were lower expectations and a possibility of no vision change. She didn't start to experience improvement until the following day. It was miraculous she could see very clearly out of her lazy eye by day 2. My mom did experience a complication on September 2nd, 2020. After stoping the Perdnisolone Acetate. She experienced rebound inflammation, this was when we were truly grateful for Dr. Skelton. We called the emergency line at 10:30pm, my mom was punched straight through to Dr. Skelton. I texted him photos of her eye and he made room for us to come in the following day 7:45am. After doing a thorough examination he felt comfortable that it was rebound inflammation and put my mom back on the Prednisolone for another 30 days. We where nervous that her vision was still blurry the following day and he made time to see her again the same day. The inflammation is back under control and my mom is moving forward with the healing process. As of now she has 20/20 vision in both eyes but it can take up to a year for complete healing. Everyone is a little different. To sum it up Dr. Skelton is an AMAZING SURGEN! He will listen to your needs. He is meticulous and determined to give you the best out come possible. Above all the compassion he has for is patients is what makes him so amazing. He is truly changing peoples lives and gave my mom back her vision, when she was practically blind. Thank You Dr. Skelton! I have never wrote a review online but thought it important because when we where looking for a doctor ourselves we did nothing but try to read as many review as possible.

I was a new patient so I had to fill out some forms. Within 10 minutes, I was called in. I thought, wow, that was quick. Came to find out, I was called to have my eyes measured by the medical assistant. After that was done, I went sent back to the lobby to wait to be seen by the doctor. 9:30 came around, still waiting in the lobby. Finally around 9:50, I got called in. I was happy as it was finally my turn to see my doctor. I waited in the exam room, waiting and waiting. At 10:20, the doctor finally came in. 1 hr 20 mins passed my appointment time. No apologies or anything of that sort. I understand that some patients might need longer time with the doctors but if that is a known case, I would think it is best if they don't schedule that many patients for the hr/day. Maybe only schedule 1 patient per hour. Patients should not have to wait 1+ hours to be seen by any doctors especially if it is appointment based. Patients times are valuable as well. Because of this long wait, I was late to my next appointment. Luckily they were still able to squeeze me in. Most times, they will require to have it reschedule. On the plus side, receptionist, medical assistant and Dr Fowler were all nice. If they can improve on their wait time, I'm sure their ratings will be higher.
