Dr Soomekh is an insanely great doctor but its really hard to describe exactly why. Its only after you've been to dozens of other doctors who look at your feet for a couple minutes then quickly give you an extreme diagnosis and treatment plan do you start to understand why. Its not just about what the doctor thinks the best treatment is for the diagnosis but its about the life goals of the patient. The treatment needs to be custom tailored to help achieve the goals of the patient. To do this, extra time must be spent to deeply understand those goals and the diagnosis in the context of those goals. Then a lot of discussion needs to be had about the tradeoffs for different treatment options. Many doctors aren't willing to invest the time to do this or they just don't care to do it. Dr Soomekh is completely different in this regard. He understands your your diagnosis and goals better than any doctor I've spoken to. He takes the time and invests extra to make sure hes great here. Dr Soomekh is not just churning through a bunch of patient but actually improving patient lives by giving the extra care that is needed. Thankfully, while my issue was not a severe sports or foot condition, I was able to walk comfortably pain free within minutes of removal of a deep large callus on my right toe. Most importantly, he explained my toe anatomy and at home care remedies. As small an issue as it was when your feet hurt you are miserable! As side note, he did perform bunionectomies on both feet with six months of each other several years ago! Easy recovery. No issues. Dr. Soomekh is PHENOMENAL! Look no further for your foot issues to be resolved. My son is Type 1 diabetic and was having an issue with his toe nail that was alarming. No one at CHLA (Childrens Hospital Los Angeles) knew what it was and after a few visits where he was misdiagnosed, I asked that a culture be taken. We then discovered that the injury had led to a staph infection. I decided to take my son to a local (cheap) podiatrist that is down the street from where I live, desperate for answers. I have struggled with my bunions for many years. After getting my left foot surgically fixed in NYC with some complications I was very nervous about getting my right foot done. I had a lot of questions and he fielded each one. Going to Dr Soomekh was the best decision I could have made. He really listened to my story and we came up with a treatment plan that would alleviate my fears of another complication. Booking surgery with his team was a breeze and they helped me understand my insurance benefits so there would be no surprise bills. The procedure went amazingly and his follow-up care was incredible. Doctor and medical expertise 5/5 I recently had surgery with Doctor Soomekh. Everything was great. Good explanation of my issue and necessary procedure. Surgery went very well. No pain after. He is very clear and calm which is exactly what I was looking for. I'm very satisfied of the result. Billing 3/5 My only complain is regarding their billing. A few small things were a bit bothering. I got sick 2 days before the surgery and was told by the anesthesiologist to postpone the surgery. I was charged $300 (normally $500) for having to postpone. I understand it was last minute but thought they would waive it as it was for medical reason. Also small things that could be improved: 1. went to renew the bandage on my ankle and was charged $10 for the new bandage. I think it should be offered (kind of like going to a nice restaurant and having to pay for bread) 2. have to pay for parking while having the surgery (I'm okay paying for a regular visit but would be good not to have to deal with parking on the day of the surgery). I would still highly recommend Doctor Soomekh as the most important part is the surgery itself which went great! read more

I made an appointment, filled out all documents online, drove all the way to Beverly Hills, only to be told that they don't take my insurance! That had my insurance information from the beginning! After breaking my ankle (fibula) snowboarding I was able to make an appointment to see Dr Soomekh easily. After taking x-rays, he clearly laid out the pros and cons of surgery vs no surgery. Dr. Soomekh is amazing! In our initial consultation, he spent a great deal of time explaining the different procedures for my problem and felt I was a good candidate for Arthosurface. I recently had the surgery, and I am on the mend as I write this. All is going well. I have suffered for years with Hallux Rigidus (no mobility and pain) in my big toe. I researched remedies outside of fusions and found Arthrosurface. I was not impressed with any of the podiatrists in my area (Northern California). My experience with David Soomekh was a waste of time. I made an appointment with him based off of his yelp status but realized it was too good to be true. I have flat feet and tend to walk inwards so I wanted to see a Dr. to see what his opinion would be about getting insoles. When I went into the office the front desk people were pretty annoying, and Dr. Soomekh was trying to have me pay out of pocket instead of insurance because it would be "cheaper for me". When I told him I rather not pay cash, he said I was ok and I don't need to do anything. That's how much he cares about his patients. read more

First and foremost Dr. Soomekh is the most caring doctor (NOT EXAGGERATING), from the moment you meet him to be moment you leave his office his primary concern is you, making sure you are comfortable and have had all your questions and concerns answered. He takes his time to listen to you, to the pain your having and in response he is very thorough. For over 5 years I suffered severe pain on the inner side of both my feet, you could physically see a size of a golf ball bump on both my feet. After several doctor visits and being told it's pressure to my muscles caused by my flat feet I had given up and basically had told myself I was going to suffer this pain for the rest of my life. I couldn't even get a foot massage every time I would get a pedicure and a body massage, that's how painful it was. Everything changed when I made my first visit to Dr. Soomekh in September of 2017. He did an ultrasound and noticed 2 big bumps on my feet and requested I do an MRI to get a better understand of what was really growing in my feet. After an immediate MRI I received a called for a follow up appointment. During my visit he showed me the MRI, explained what we were both looking at and what that thing inside my feet were, that has been growing for years. Turns out I had tumors in my feet!!!!! Of course I was scared, I had so many questions, am I going to be okay, what needs to happen, AND of course will this hurt. Dr. Soomekh took the time to explain my options, answered my questions and really listened to my concerns. With all my questions answered and my 100% trust and comfort in Dr. Soomekh I scheduled my surgery and had the tumors removed. Recovery was painless, I followed his instruction, took the medications I was prescribed and had a smooth recovery. I had continues follow up visits to make sure I was healing well and making a full recovery. It's been 7 months since my surgery and I have never felt any better. I can touch my feet now, I can get a foot massage, I can wear high heels, I can walk in the house without shoes and not be in pain every time I put my feet down on the floor, my feet can touch the sand on the beach again..... Unlike other podiatrists office that are super chaotic and noisy and with a large bitchy staff who tend to be annoyed if you ask them even one question although you are paying a lot of money to see their doctor; Dr. Soomekh's office was truly a breath of fresh air. Dr. Soomekh's office people were super nice and he took the time to listen to what injured me and thoroughly explained all the options like a professional. He did an in office CT scan, and an overnight test on the injury, then figured out exactly what was wrong and helped me immensely. The whole process was not rushed and great from beginning to end. Fitted me for orthotics. Told me they were unconditionally guaranteed but I had to try them for a while. They were extremely expensive. I tried them for a while and they hurt. When I called back and said they were uncomfortable, the office pulled a 180 and went from being gracious and solicitous to being curt and abrupt. Someone from his office called and demanded my credit card # so it could be "put on file in case I don't pay my bill" which was rude and without justification because they had my PPO insurance card on file. Then the Dr very begrudgingly made new orthotics which are also painful and don't fit. I wouldn't call again because they treated me badly and I can't put myself thru that again but I'm out a couple hundred dollars. I do not recommend. read more

I hate to admit this, but as of late I've become a podiatrists worst nightmare. I found Dr. Soomekh on yelp, and asked a few fellow yelpers how their experience was with him before checking him out. I've been dealing with painful foot problems for four months now and to say that it's taken a damper on things is an understatement. What's incredible about this doctor is the level of personal attention he gives to each patient. He could tell how upset I was and was determined to help me find an answer. I know how rare this is because I've seen practically every podiatrist in Los Angeles at this point. On my first visit he literally spent almost an hour with me carefully examining my foot, my CT scan, and determining the best course of action. I don't believe I've ever received this level of attention from a doctor in my life and I am so grateful for the effort he is putting in to help alleviate my pain. I do believe I'm getting better. I had an MRI last week and Dr. Soomekh went through my MRI with the radiologist at length. It turns out I had fluid in three joints and now we are working on getting rid of the fluid. Dr Soomekh was referred to me by a girlfriend on facebook and I am so happy I went to see him! During my pregnancy I developed a small patch of hard skin on the bottom of my right foot. I got an appointment to go see what was wrong w my foot and get it fixed. Getting an appointment was easy and the person who answered the phone was very polite :) When i went into the office the day of the appointment I was put into a room and waited briefly for the doctor to come see me. I was very happy I didn't have to wait long because I had to run home. Anyhow the doctor walked in and was very professional and had a smile on his face. He read over my paperwork and asked me what my issue was. I showed him my foot and told him about the pain on the one spot. He examined my foot and put pressure on it and told me its very common and not a big deal and he went over all my options on the removal process. Since i just had a baby he also told me I needed to wait on the procedure I chose and to come back in a few months. In the meantime he was able to slightly carve out the hard skin on the bottom of my foot so there would be less pain. I did not feel a thing as he did it. It was done very gently and since I'm scared of doctors he would tell me what he was going to do before doing it. He was very educated and made me feel at ease. His bedside manner was always impressive, his knowledge of the feet and surrounding areas was great when assessing what was causing me discomfort. He wasn't pushy and didn't try to sell me on anything else i didn't need, which a lot of doctors in his field might do since patients don't know better and will trust what their doctor recommends (which was the case with my previous doctor). Thank you Dr. Soomekh! My heel was hurting for months. I saw 2 different doctors who kept giving me painful steroid shots, yet the pain still continued. When the pain no longer subsided, two of my friends on separate occasions recommended I see Dr. Soomekh. So reluctantly, I went, and was so impressed. Dr. Soomekh took his time with me to explain that I may not have plantar fascitis at all, and that it could be something else. I was confused because so many other doctors kept telling me I had PF. After an MRI and nerve test, Dr. Soomekh diagnosed me with Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, it's like carpal tunnel syndrome, except in the foot. I had to have a surgery to take the pressure off the nerve. My heel pain is now GONE. Dr. Soomekh knew how to make the right diagnosis and gave me great treatment. I would recommend him over and over. read more
