This review is for my September 3rd wedding. I have nothing but praise for David for his organization, thoroughness, and timely communication in the planning stages. The Word doc he developed was extremely helpful in outlining the flow of the evening. David also did a wonderful job facilitating the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception setup, plus all of the usual reception activities (cake cutting, wedding party intros, etc.), and he has excellent emceeing skills. The wedding day went as smoothly as it did thanks to him. However, I do wish the dancing portion of the evening had gone differently. There was a disconnect between our expectations and David's gameplan for the evening. I worked months on a playlist that I knew my guests would love as it was full of inside jokes and memories, and I thought there was a mutual agreement that David would exclusively stick to said playlist. Unfortunately, this was not the case. There wasn't anything necessarily wrong with what was played - it was the usual party anthems - but I had wanted to avoid the typical stuff. I was busy talking to so many people that I had to ask some family members to go up and request songs from the playlist that I made. It was frustrating having to involve other people just to get what we wanted. We were also disappointed to hear an artist from our "never play" list as one of the first songs. While they're extremely popular, we have reasons for strongly disliking them, which I won't get into here. There was also another artist that was played towards the end of the night that I'm not a fan of. I asked my now-husband to ask David to change the song, to which he replied, "Well, they weren't on your 'never play' list." I never intended to micromanage, but during the stresses of wedding planning, it's not exactly easy to think of every music artist we don't like. I should note that most of my "must play" songs were played, and that I probably could have communicated my expectations about the music better. I will fully admit that I'm a Type A personality who likes things a particular way. Fortunately, my guests didn't realize what was going on, and they all had fun - I'm still receiving great feedback about the day. But I do feel like there was an assumption that he knew my family and friends' music taste better than I did, and that bothered us. Looking back, I wish I had seen signs that we probably weren't the best fit with David, as my husband and I felt overruled as clients, but we genuinely didn't see this coming until the wedding was actually happening. Ultimately, it was a successful event, and my guests were happy - only my closest friends and family members were aware of what was happening. I would still be willing to recommend David's services but would caution that expectations need to be aligned upfront. If you're flexible with music on the fly, then I don't anticipate there being any issues. read more

WHERE TO BEGIN?! if you are planning an event and have "finding a DJ" on your checklist, you just found him. we were lucky enough to have David referred to us by friends who just got to see him at a wedding.
