A Disappointing Experience with David McDavid Ford House
As someone who appreciates the value of hard-earned money and expects a certain level of service when spending a significant amount, my recent experience with David McDavid Ford House has been nothing short of exasperating.
I recently purchased a 2024 F350 from this dealership, shelling out a cool $93,000. Given the hefty price tag, you would assume the basic courtesies like a full tank of diesel would be a given. Instead, I found the tank only half-full. But that was just the start. The truck was also low on Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), and the washer fluid reservoir was empty. These oversights paint a picture of carelessness that's hard to overlook. Additionally, they owe me a key for the F350, which I don't expect to see.
Adding to my frustration, I had planned to use their body shop and service shop for significant repairs on my 2012 Ford Expedition (150k miles), estimating around $7,000 worth of work on the body (quite the price tag for a mirror, small door ding, some work on the back hatch and an interior piece) and $1,800 on the engine. This vehicle is destined for my father, and I explained to them that I would give it to him in as excellent of condition as possible. However, the initial goodwill continued to erode when they went over the service quote (for eight plugs and eight ignition coils) without any prior confirmation of the increased cost. A simple phone call to discuss the overrun would have been courteous and professional. Now, they claim that after the check engine light came on, the entire engine needs to be replaced, but a mechanic of theirs would like to buy it.
I approached this entire transaction without haggling or running the dealership "through hoops." All I sought was a fraction of support with the overall costs, considering my total investment with their establishment would exceed $100,000. Not to mention the planned purchases from the Parts Department for additional Motorcraft accessories.
It's not just about the money spent but the trust invested in a dealership to deliver on the basics. The David McDavid Ford House failed to meet these expectations. Their approach to customer service is as lackluster as the fluid levels they couldn't bother to check before handing over the keys to a $93k truck.
Furthermore, this series of oversights leads me to question the thoroughness of the dealership's inspection processes and the quality of their technicians' work. How can I trust that the necessary inspections and services have been performed to the highest standard when such basic checks are overlooked? If a dealership cannot ensure that a newly purchased vehicle leaves the lot with full tanks and proper fluid levels, it casts serious doubts on their ability to handle more complex and intricate tasks. This lack of attention to detail is not just an inconvenience; it shakes my confidence in the integrity and skill of their technical team, making me reconsider future services and dealings with them.
For an establishment that prides itself on service and customer satisfaction, this experience was a glaring misstep. It makes one reconsider future dealings and second-guess the integrity of their service promises. Needless to say, this has been a disappointing chapter in what should have been an exciting purchase experience. read more
