My dentist, Dr. Lipenholtz had referred me to Commack Endodontics and said they are "the best of the best!". Yesterday I had my appointment, when I walked into the office I was happy to see how clean it was! As I walked up to the front desk, I was greeted by the very friendly and professional reception staff. They made me feel comfortable before even seeing the doctor. After a very short wait in the waiting room, I was brought back by the dental assistant who was also very nice! I asked her if root canals hurt as bad as everyone says and she told me I "shouldn't feel a thing and it is quite painless" while that was very reassuring, I of course had my reservations and said to myself, that they probably tell everyone that so that the patient doesn't get more nervous! Finally the dentist came in. I was seen by Dr. Martin, he was such a nice dentist, immediately made you feel comfortable! I asked him the same question that I asked the dental assistant and he reassured me the same as she did. He also was very gentle while using the novocaine to numb the area before the procedure. He said it might pinch and might hurt but I felt no discomfort, and during the procedure I felt nothing as well. After the procedure was done, I was warned that I may be uncomfortable for a couple days due to how deep my cavity was. Well, I am incredibly happy and surprised to say that it has been 24 hours now and I feel absolutely no discomfort/pain. Dr. Martin did an amazing job and I would refer him to anyone I know that is in need of a root canal. Thank you Commack Endodontics (Dr. Martin and staff) for a pleasant experience during a not so pleasant procedure! I feel brand new already.

I came to this dental office for a routine cleaning, which is fully covered under my MetLife PPO…read moreplan. I was never told that anything was wrong with my gums, nor was I informed of any underlying gum disease or condition that would require a deep cleaning. No one explained that I would be receiving anything other than the routine cleaning I scheduled. Instead, I was handed paperwork to sign without any explanation of why a different procedure was necessary. I was never shown any notes, X‑rays, periodontal measurements, or evidence that a deep cleaning was medically required. After the appointment, I was charged $250 for a deep cleaning I did not knowingly consent to. When I later contacted my insurance company, they confirmed that routine cleanings are covered and that I should have been eligible for one. This directly contradicted what the office told me. I called the office afterward to ask for clarification and a refund. The "manager" told me that the dentist's notes supposedly indicated a need for a deep cleaning -- but again, I was NEVER shown these notes during my visit, nor was anything explained to me verbally at the time. I had no opportunity to understand or agree to the treatment they chose to perform. Patients deserve transparency, informed consent, and honest communication. None of that happened here. I'm sharing this so others know to ask questions and insist on clear explanations before agreeing to any dental procedure.

I got a fast appointment and excellent service. The dentist and his assistant made we feel very relaxed and comfortable. Dr. G. has such a funny personality which made it even better.I had no pain, swelling, or any discomfort at all afterwards. It was a pretty pleasant experience for a tooth extraction. I would definitely recommend this office.

Not having dental insurance, I was paying out of pocket. Upon arriving, they examined him, took X-rays and while doing so asked me if I wanted to see "the estimate." I thought it was a strange question as they previously conveyed the price, but I said "sure." Upon examining the estimate, as four staff members looked on (stared) as I did so, I thought that was in itself curious. Then I learned why. To my surprise the quote was over $1000.00 --as they labeled it a "difficult" extraction. When I questioned what made it over $400 worth of difficult, they had no answers. When I pressed why it wasn't $650.00 difficult or $750 difficult or any variation thereof, they looked as puzzled and confused as I was. I promptly collected my son and left -- having lost all faith and trust in them. What a shame!!! Oh, they did of course insist I pay them $225.00 for the consult and X-rays. I wrote the check unwillingly and asked that they forward the X-rays to my long time dentist-- who does not do oral surgery. I won't be going back to this place, and I suggest you save yourself a trip as well...
