Don't join the gym if you want to use the swimming pool, sauna and steam room…read more I signed up two weeks ago as the swimming pool is open every day till 10 o'clock " as the staff said" apart from Saturday and Sunday till 5 o'clock as I finish work at 6 o'clock so I have time to do some workout and Sauna after, however; since then every day I go to the sauna, they won't let us in as there is swimming club booking or some other activities which are unfair to shot the sauna as well!! swimming pool opening hours: https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/sport/timetables/swimming-pool/

I cannot wait to see what this place is going to be like when it's fully open and fully installed…read more At the moment there are still big water cooler bottle things lying around everywhere, no TVs installed and I really wish that they would attach that one exercise contraption to the floor - I don't like the idea that I could fall over on top of you while you're exercising. However, that being said, it was about time that they extended the gym, and so far, it really has helped - unless you go at peak times and the sports teams are practicing and the changing rooms are stupidly full and all the weights are in use. My tiny little pet peeve, which you should know about, is that people will never put the weights back in their proper order, so be prepared to go on a hunt for matching weights. Also, the new floor exercise/stretching sections are always busy, and one of them is contained in milkglass - but with an opening which, if that's the mat you're training on, will make you feel incredibly on display! There is always a Trainer walking around, so if you have any questions about the exercises or if you want a new exercise to spice up your session, they will be able to help. Generally, the staff is very approachable and usually very friendly. I haven't attended any of the classes yet; they've introduced a new system of grabbing a little token which you then hand to the instructor. I have yet to find out how it works.

There is a good range though, from cardio machines, to weight machines, plenty of free weights, as well as a fitness centre with punch bag, TRX system and more. Single change rooms too, rather than common ones, and parking on street is usually ok (again, pick your times). I've been a few times now, gotta work off those Yelp inspired pounds, and I love the vibe of the place, plus it's close to where I live!

There's 24 hour opening so you can come and go as you please. As the gym isn't staffed round the clock there's a secure entry system to stop folk sneaking in. As stated previously, it is a small gym, so you may have to wait for equipment during busy times. I didn't use the personal trainer service they have on offer, so I can't really comment on the staff. Once I was signed up & given the tour, they left me to do my own thing as I was pretty familiar with the machines. The gym offers 6 & 12 month membership plans. You can also use any of their locations worldwide should you fancy a workout on holiday or in case you get shipped abroad by your boss!

If you've never set foot in a Pure Gym before let me tell you, it's kinda like the Easyjet of gyms;…read moreit's cheap, pretty no-frills, but a little nicer than those in the same price bracket. Having been a member of the gym on Bath St, I took a chance on this gym as it was slightly cheaper and only recently built (although Bath St has recently been refurbished). I'm not going to write a lot about this gym, instead I give you a pro's and con's list: Pro's: 1. It's about as new as a gym can be without being a crossfit-ikea-bobthebuilder mash-up! 2. It's pretty quiet compared to Bath St. 3. There're plenty of cardio machines 4. The free-weights area seems bigger than Bath St. 5. They offer free classes in 2 separate studio spaces. 6. The hairdryers don't blow their fuse everytime you use them (unlike Bath St). 7. Every time I've been in I've seen at least 1 cleaner. Con's: 1. The music is the same awful drivel they play elsewhere. 1(ii) Aaaagh! That music!! 2. The weight machines are scattered over 2 floors, when they could quite easily have been put in one place. 3. Upstairs is totally soulless, it could still be a garage.. 4. You have to be really quick to get a space in some of the classes. 5. They took the peanut butter clif bars out've the vending machines (-50 cool points) I want to like this gym, I want to say it's better than Bath St, but it's just too white (not the clientele). It feels like a gym showroom, but with people using the equipment. This is my opinion of it, perhaps other people love the airy ceilings & clean walls, but to me it just sucks the fun out've being there.. I'll keep going to the gym, so maybe there'll be a change of heart in the future.

This gym opened in early October in the Charing Cross/Woodlands area (which sorely lacked fitness…read moreoptions - until now.) The gym is all new, so it's clean and airy and everything works. They have a good variety of weights and machines around the lower floor, and a room full of treadmills and cardio equipment upstairs. They've also got a spin/cycle room and a studio for classes downstairs. The locker rooms are nice; not huge, but there's enough space. My two minor complaints about this gym are: 1. The space pod entrance. You put in your code, and the first side of the pod opens. You step inside and it shuts behind you! Then the other side opens and lets you through. As a claustrophobic person, this is not fun. 2. The volume - the music is up way too loud, especially upstairs. Downstairs, the noise from the ongoing classes can be a bit much on top of the already-loud music. I find I have to turn my headphones way, way up to drown it all out. I've been in a few times now - weeknights are busier, but I still haven't had much trouble using the equipment or machines I'm after. Definitely no trouble with cardio machines - there are plenty available. Sunday afternoons have been quiet. Staff are really helpful too - I had to ask about how to use a particular machine and the guy came over and showed me exactly how to set up the machine and use it correctly. All in all, I'm enjoying it so far!

The Water Palace, which is a haven for groups of teenagers on a Friday night, has been in the same location in Hamilton for a good while. The Hamilton baths that existed before it was even in the same place, although they're now apartments. The main pool has been closed a handful of times, once or twice due to a disease outbreak in the water, and the other times due to general hygiene issues. If you can go for a swim in here and not find yourself gathering old plasters and bits of hair, then I congratulate you. Unless that's the sort of thing you would enjoy, I'd suggest staying away from here.

One of a notable chain of gyms opened here on thursday the 22nd of october and i was the first…read morecustomer at the doors! As we all know pure gyms can vary from place to place. Some of them are fantastic with ample areas and plenty of time to do your workout without feeling as if you hogging a machine or that you need to hurry. Others not so much with not enough machines for demand and overworked staff trying to keep everyone happy. Thankfully this one falls into the former. As i said its just new opened and it is huge! Its opened on the site of what, at one time, used to be the old kwik save at the back of the shawlands arcade and it is absolutely huge. As you walk in its a very open space with plenty of room around the machines. Id estimate about 15 treadmills, 10 bikes and a variety of cross trainers steppers and the like greet you as you walk in the door. Next to this is a studio type area for classes but that you can use if you need to when its free as well. In the corner you have a cycle studio for spin classes and such which has about another 20 bikes. Next to this is the open area with the weight machines. All the usual suspects are here such as the leg press, ab crunch, bicep and tricep pulls and for the most part they are in duplicate which will help with the demand as well. A couple of interesting machines which i rarely see are the ski machine which, as you may have guessed, simulates the movements needed in skiing and they also have access to a vibroplate in the corner as well. They also have access to two steppers which rather than the up and down contrivences have actual steps moving down and folding in at the bottom and re-emerging at the top. At the back we have a very well stocked weights area with some assisted lift machines where you can change the angle of plates and such to tailor your workout to certain parts of your body. As for the facilities you have a free water fountain as you would expect, 3 or 4 machines selling a variety of padlocks, towels, protein bars, shakes and water and down the other side we have changing rooms and showers which are all secured with the keypads which is grat for the security of your stuff. Also notably they have women's only section of the gym, unfortunately i cant comment on what is contained therein but its a nice wee addition. All in all a big gym, well built with plenty of variety and availability. I cant wait to go back now that im a member!
