One of those fears was wether we'd have an adequate healthcare experience that addressed her and our baby's needs. It's safe to say they far exceeded our expectations. For starters, the newish birthing center broke with my experience in outdated hospitals. Everything is well-maintained here, from the equipment to the furniture. My wife got her own private room upon request which worked well because family could stop in anytime and say hi without intruding on God-knows-what might be happening on the other side of a divider curtain. The staff were the real stars. What we hoped would be a quick and relatively painless labor stretched out for a full day, and only half of that was with the assistance of any pain killers. Shift after shift of nurses came in and they were all incredibly attentive, sympathetic to her needs, and supportive of her every wish. If only I could recall all their names. Let's just say that whoever is in charge of hiring nurses at Mercy Hospital clearly knows the qualities to look for. Our only letdown was that after she gave birth she was transferred to a much smaller and nosier shared room. We were both upset since she specifically requested this hospital because of the private room policy. Normally this would knock off a star or two, but again the staff were so incredibly supportive and went above and beyond the call of duty in making her comfortable. With my baby boy home and healthy, I can safely say that Mercy Methodist is a top notch hospital when it comes to the birthing process!

It is management's responsibility to keep networks updated, not blame patients for systemic administrative failures. And two months ago, I called the insurance to transfer over. Which the insurance called the staff to confirm if they still take new patients, and now telling me they don't take it. WOW Trying to call this office is a nightmare, with wait times routinely spanning 10 to 30+ minutes. When I called to request a standard check to see if an alternative insurance policy would provide coverage, the front desk receptionist was openly hostile, telling me: "WE DON'T TAKE MEDICAL, I DON'T SEE THE POINT OF ME CHECKING, JUST WASTING TIME FOR NONSENSE" This claim of being "too busy" to assist patients is a complete lie. I was rescheduled not once, not twice, but THREE times (keep in mind the third rescheduled appointment was several months after the initial appointment). I completely understand that certain injuries take longer to heal from than others. However, what upset me was during the third rescheduled appointment I was brought into the room to change and I was told that a male physician was covering for Dr. Frei. No one mentioned in the appointment reminder phone call or when I checked-in for my appointment that Dr. Frei was still not available to see her patients. The medical assistant almost pleaded for me to stay and said that the office is trying to keep Dr. Frei's practice going. I felt torn, because I felt the office staff was deceitful for not telling me Dr. Frei was still unavailable to see patients. Also, I just wanted to get my annual visit over with. I reluctantly proceeded with the rest of the visit. Fast forward to this year. I used to be able to get appointments 2-3 weeks in advance and even though she cuts her last appointment in the early afternoon, she has graciously stayed behind to take me at 4pm on weekdays. I originally chose her because I preferred a female doctor who could speak Chinese and communicate with me. It was important for me to have someone who would understand my cultural practices and traditional background. I also liked the fact that she was young, which meant to me that she would be open-minded and actually listen to me as a patient. For the most part, she has lived up to my expectations. She does everything you expect from a doctor and gets your needs met. However, I did have one bad experience a year ago, though no fault of her own. It was either her office system or the Mercy medical group that she is affiliated. You can definitely feel that it is designed to squeeze as much money as possible from patients, making some visits seem impersonal and rushed. This particular incident happened when I showed up for my "physical" appointment that I booked many weeks in advance. I was SEVERELY disappointed by the front staff who looked at me blankly and said, "no it's just an appointment, not a physical appointment slot." It turns out the staff initially making the appointment made a mistake and never booked me for a physical - the appointment notes didn't even reflect this and no one at the desk knew what I was talking about when I checked in. Nonetheless, they made me wait and "maybe the doctor can do it." Nope, not only was the staff wrong and unapologetic, it turned out to be a long wait (she was running behind that day). So, minus one star because it was a waste of a couple hours that could've been avoided if they rescheduled me or better yet, got it right the first time. I eventually did only get seen for that 15 min slot and, yes, I was told I had to make another appointment to come back for a true physical appointment. P.A.) on multiple occasions, tried explaining to us, that she would 'manipulate the "coding" so that the charges they were submitting to BLUE CROSS insurance would reflect some made up reason for a non-existent diagnosis that would get them to cover these treatments, 100%!. We didn't quite understand what Debra was telling us at the time. It never felt quite right with us. It almost felt fraudulent, it felt suspect and even shady and is the primary reason that both my partner and I left INTEGRATED CARE and went elsewhere for continued treatments. They, usually "Debra", on multiple occasions, told us, there's just some sort of "lag time"in payments from BlueCross-CA. Eventually, when the unpaid balance was becoming so large and 100%, unpaid. We both felt very uncomfortable about it and discontinued with treatments at IntegratedCare, regardless of the multiple conversations with them assuring us "not to worry" is just some kind of office error. They assured us both, that "eventually, the entire bill would be covered and to "just toss the invoices into the trash". They even kept incurrageing my partner to keep coming for the weekly treatments. All the while, his balance kept growing bigger and bigger. Apparently, the information and instructions that they were telling us? They were either inaccurate or possibly just a plain lies. They made mentions on telling, possibly fabricated information to the BlueCross, so why would I trust them to be honest with us? Over the past year, we are still today getting monthly statements today more than a year later. The stressful PAST DUE OR GOING INTO COLLECTIONS letters start coming in with a past due balance of $7,292.78 ! After numerous attempts to resolve and numerous promises that there no need to worry. Why couldn't they just be honest with us in the beginning or at anytime? Why would they encourage us to continue with weekly Spravato treatments for nearly 8 mos. Why wouldn't they inform us that the insurance was not paying their "bogusly coded charges"? while no payments were being approved by insurance? They never bothered to mention anything about it to us. What kind of business does that anyway? WHERE ELSE WOULD A PRIVATELY OWNED CLINIC CONTINUE PROVIDING "UNPAID" SERVICES FOR 7 MOS? ZERO payments received !! It ridiculous to imagine any medical, "niche" clinic to allow this kind of practice..The charges were more than my partners total income at that time !Over one year later, the obnoxious and bogus past due notices keep on coming on the first week of every month, showing still, no payments made.
